March 21st 2025 Shortly after the last delay, the release date has been adjusted again for the upcoming artbook, The Art of Star Wars Outlaws . This was spotted while checking dates for future releases, often the only way to find out a book has been hit by a delay. You can see on the Dark Horse website , that it is now set to hit shelves August 19th. It was reported here only 10 days ago that it had been pushed from July 22nd to August 12th. This change has been confirmed again with updates on retailers websites. Cover art for The Art of Star Wars Outlaws This is the 4th delay after being originally due on June 3rd. This is not a big change and has come shortly after the last one, but with no official word from Dark Horse, it's not possible to know why. If I had to guess, it sounds like a small scheduling issue, possibly due to other releases or simply down to the availability of someone needed for the book. The release will include concept art and insights for Star Wars: Outlaws, from Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft. The game was released in 2024 and highlights the interesting release schedule for artbooks, as most used to come out close to the date a game launched. Now though, many, like this one, come out a long time after. In contrast, The Art of Assassin's Creed Shadows is coming out March 25th, days after the game release. Both are by Dark Horse and Ubisoft, which then does raise questions as to the nature of very frequent delays for artbooks. A lot of work goes into making them, but some books suffer from more changes to their release dates than others, even when the same companies are involved and there is a larger gap between a game launch and publication. February 17th 2025 Not long before release, the upcoming artbook for the popular online card game, Marvel SNAP, has been delayed two weeks by publisher Dark Horse. No official update on the delay of The Art of Marvel SNAP has been posted, as is often the case, so it's not clear exactly when this happened, but it was recent and spotted when visiting the book page. The new date can be found through online retailers and on the Dark Horse website. It was last due on the 4th of March 2025 and is now expected on the 18th of March. The book will come with a hardcover, which is to be expected from Dark Horse, as they are very consistent with their book formats, as well as having 224 pages. It will have the same dimensions as the vast majority of their video game artbooks too, coming in at 9" x 12" ( 23.52 x 31.29 cm). It will feature over 100 characters and locations, with the art showcased across 300 different cards. These will also come with insights from the team at Second Dinner Studios, the developer of the game. The free-to-play game itself was released in October of 2022 and remains very popular. It had over 30 million installs in the first 3 months, with thousands still playing. It launched on Windows, iOS and Android, with Nuverse acting as the publisher. Marvel SNAP was recently in the news after being temporarily banned in the US. This happened on January 19th when the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act came into effect. Nuverse is owned by Chinese company ByteDance Ltd, which is why the game was affected. The restrictions were lifted soon after and Second Dinner Studios are now working with Skystone Games to bring publishing in-house, with the goal being to prevent possible issues in the future. March 19th 2025 Arcane was an incredibly popular animated series on Netflix, so it would make sense that the artbook, The Art and Making of Arcane , would be highly desired among fans. Despite being released in December, there are still people without copies, but the wait is far from over. In the lead up to its release on December 3rd (later in the month outside of the US), it was on the top of multiple book charts on Amazon, which is often a good way of seeing how a title is doing. It was clear this book was going to do well, but seemingly far better than publishers Insight Editions and Titan Books were expecting. This is because it has not only been sold out at most places for a long time, but people that pre-ordered were left waiting for reprints. The book is showing as unavailable on most sites, including Amazon, but if you shop around there are a few places that do now have stock. At the time of writing this, Barnes and Noble have copies in the US, so it's possible to track it down. For the most part though, it seems there will be a continued wait. Shortly after the book was released, people with orders for the book were being told it would ship as late as March, 3 months after release. There are times a book will sell out quickly and reprints are needed, but large numbers of people with pre-orders not receiving their copy is unusual for an artbook. Sites in the UK, where the publishing is handled by Titan Books, are out of stock too. Bigger names like Waterstones have a disclaimer that states copies are expected in the next 4 months, with HMV saying early May for orders placed after February 5th. The book did make it into the collection here on release and previews were posted on YouTube and social media platforms. It was at this point it became apparent that there was a stock issue. Anecdotally, I can confirm that people with pre-orders had to wait long periods of time. The most recent comment claims that they are now expecting their copy in August and although I cannot confirm the location of the buyer, it's not much more than the 4 month wait as mentioned before. I can also confirm that orders placed in December have not been shipped through Amazon. The YouTube video (seen below) is by far the most popular on The Artbook Collector channel and it was around this time that it made use of the Amazon affiliate program. This helps support the channel and website using sales completed through the links. Many people placed orders in December, but I can confirm that there are still outstanding items to be shipped. These orders came in when the video went live, so there is no doubt it is The Art and Making of Arcane that people are waiting on. It is the case then that the wait for the book will continue on for those that have not received it yet. While it is not ideal for a publisher to lack the number of copies needed to keep up with demand, it does indicate that there is a large appetite for artbooks out there. Insight Editions and Titan Books are still sending out copies to retailers, so it's great to see that they are continuing to work on getting the book to as many people as possible. Arcane has not only introduced people the world of League of Legends, the game it is based on, but may well have been the first artbook for many people too. I would predict that the upcoming shows from Netflix and Fortiche will also have artbooks, though hopefully stock will not be an issue now that the teams are aware of the high demand. March 17th 2025 Frostpunk 2, the city building survival game, was released in September of 2024 for PC and on console in 2025 from series developer, 11 bit studios. Fans of the game now have have the chance to get more from the Frostpunk world in the form of a two book set, with a campaign launching on Kickstarter this week. The Kickstarter project is set to begin on March 20th and will allow fans to back the collection, The World of Frostpunk: Artbook and Anthology. As the name suggests, one of these is an artbook, which is what brought it to the attention of this website, and is titled Aesthetics of Desolation. The other is an anthology book, Tales from the Frostland, that comes with stories set in the game's world. Both are being released as hardcovers and come in a slipcase. Aesthetics of Desolation is described as a 'visual story of the Frostpunk world coming together' and is divided into 3 parts as follows; What Now? - A look at the design foundation behind Frostpunk 2. Bones & Muscle of a World - This explores the society and daily life of the people in the game. The Legacy of New London - A dive into the visual change between the Frostpunk 1 and 2, which are set 30 years apart. March 15th 2025 Another artbook delay has been spotted online from Marvel, with Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World - The Art of the Movie being the one that suffers in this update. This is the first delay for the book, that was initially due to hit shelves on June 10th, but is now expected a couple of weeks later, on June 24th. This is confirmed by multiple retailer listings in the US, which are often the first to update their information. It is now the 24th entry in a row in the series of artbooks from Marvel Studios to be delayed (and then cancelled in a couple of cases). The reasons again are unknown, as date changes are never publicly acknowledged. There is no cover art yet for the book, this is the current placeholder There are a lot of moving pieces in the creation of an artbook, which also includes input and interviews from the artists at the studio, who are no doubt incredibly busy. However, while it is easy to accept that problems and scheduling can cause date changes, with this happening so often and so reliably, it has become expected that the first due date for each book will not be the final one. There has also been two other Marvel artbook delays this month. First, Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of The Series was delayed a second time to May 27th, which was first due on April 14th. Second was Marvel Studios' Loki Season 2 - The Art of the Series , which was moved to July 29th. This book has been pushed multiple times and was first dated for October 1st 2024. Despite the poor launches of the books, they have always been consistent in their quality, with incredible art, great page design and interesting insights, but that does unfortunately make the endless delays more frustrating for fans. Perhaps one day they will work out the release issues. There is evidence for this being possible, as the artbooks during the Infinity Saga didn't have these problems and the artbook release for Deadpool & Wolverine only suffered one small delay. March 14th 2025 A flip through is now on the YouTube channel for The Art of Skyrim ! This isn't the official title, as the book doesn't seem to have one, but it is referred to simply as The Art of Skyrim. It's a look a the concept art for the game, which is an iconic entry in Bethesda's RPG series, The Elder Scrolls. The game was released in 2011 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, with a Collector's Edition available. This book was a part of that edition and comes with 200 pages in a leather hardcover. The concept art covers the races, clothing, weapons, creatures and environments. Second hand copies of the book can still be found online at varying prices depending on your location. March 11th 2025 The upcoming artbook, The Art of Star Wars Outlaws , has had its release date pushed further into the summer, confirmed in updated online listings. As seen on the Dark Horse website , who are publishing the book, it has slipped from July 22nd and is now set to hit shelves August 12th. Retailers have also updated their information, which further confirms the new publication date. Cover art for The Art of Star Wars Outlaws This is the third delay I have tracked for the book, though as they are never spoken or posted about, it's hard to know if there have been more in between. It was originally due on June 3rd, so is now coming a couple of months later. Delays are common for artbooks, but this isn't too much of a change when compared to how long other releases are postponed for. The book is based on the 2024 video game Star Wars: Outlaws, from Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft. As is common from Ubisoft and its teams, it is a large open world game and follows Kay Vess and her adventures across multiple planets in the Star Wars universe. March 13th 2025 Kickstarter has become a great way for smaller studios and artists to get their artbooks funded by supportive fans. I wanted to begin highlighting these projects, as collectors can find some great artbooks for their shelves and help others reach their goal of publishing their work. One of these projects is for books based on Diplodocus, a Polish award-winning animation that was released in 2024. It is noted as the first full length 3D animated feature aimed at families from the country. It follows a dinosaur as he hops from one new world to another, along with a group of odd characters, but comes with a unique twist. The feature also uses live-action scenes and took over 10 years to develop. The Kickstarter project is closing on March 21st and, at the time of writing this, has almost 75% of the funding needed to hit its goal of € 21,000. There are two books you can order, The Art of Diplodocus and Storyboard Diplodocus. The books are estimated to be shipped from Poland this month and are being published by another award-winner, timof comics. The Art of Diplodocus, which you can back for €45, includes an impressive 340 pages with insights, photos and over 700 pieces of art for the movie. The text comes in both Polish and English from Director Wojtek Wawszczyk, with the design executed by Tomasz Leśniak. The book is 28cm x 25cm in size. The Art of Diplodocus The second book, Storyboard, is 640 pages and covers the final storyboards for the movie. The art was created by Wojtek Wawszczyk, Tomasz Leśniak, Michał Śledziu Śledziński, Kuba Tarkowski, Marek Oleksicki, Janusz Ordon, and Kamil Kurt Kochański. This can be backed for €35 and is 17.5cm x 25cm. There is also the option to bundle both books together for €70, as well as other options for extras, such as signed copies and bedtime stories. Storyboard Diplodocus The campaign is ending soon, but you can support the project and find more information and previews on Kickstarter here - Diplodocus - Artbook and Storyboard . This looked like a great project to highlight as the previews of the pages look great and perfect for fans of other animated movie artbooks. The volume of pages included is also unusually high for Kickstarter books, so they are giving you a good amount of value here and it looks very much like a labour of love. January 31st 2025 Dark Horse have recently pushed the due date for The Art of Star Wars Outlaws , moving it back 2, or possibly 3 weeks. The book was originally due July 8th, but has now been moved on the Dark Horse website to July 22nd. Online retail listings however, have the book set for release on the 29th. I'm inclined to note the date for the 22nd on this website, in line with the publisher of the book until anything changes. Not a huge push, but this comes at an interesting time, as it happened just as Dark Horse have announced another game artbook, GWENT: Art of the Witcher Card Game Volume 2 . This book has been given the date July 8th, which may have been a reason to move the Star Wars Outlaws artbook out. This is simply speculation though and worth noting that Dark Horse have had releases in close proximity and on the same day in the past. March 8th 2025 Marvel are back at it with another delay, this time Marvel Television's Agatha: The Art of The Series takes the hit and has been delayed by a month. The book was due on April 29th, following a previous delay of two weeks, which happened in December. Now, Marvel have pushed the book again to May 27th, as confirmed on multiple websites, including Amazon. It is unfortunate to have to be writing about Marvel in this way again, but as a goal of this website is to bring updates on books, not just announcements, there will be a lot of these to write about. As expected, there is no public acknowledgement of this change, so the reason is unknown. The last 23 Marvel Studios artbooks have been delayed, with Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion: The Art of the Series also quietly cancelled. This has happened for each movie and series after the Infinity Saga, which ended with Spider-Man: Far From Home. Given the consistency of these delays, I'm certain more will be coming for future books. It is also difficult to speak to anyone involved in making them, I have only been able to speak to artists, who have no more information than the fans about when they will be released or why they get postponed. Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine: The Art of the Movie was the first artbook to release with a slipcase and lithographs, the Agatha All Along artbook will be the second in this format. I did a review of that book here , which highlights the issue of pricing it creates, as the retail price of $100/ £90 is a lot to ask for what is included. Despite the content inside the book being great as expected, this will likely deter a lot of potential customers. The recently listed Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps - The Art of the Movie is looking like it will be priced even higher at $150. When it eventually arrives, this book will be joining the collection and so previews and a review will be found here. I'm expecting a lot of costume design, as it was a big feature in the show. March 7th 2025 A flip through is now on the YouTube channel for The Art of DreamWorks The Wild Robot Deluxe Edition ! This video would have been uploaded last year, the book was released in September in the US and a month later in the UK. Despite that and being on pre-order, my copy has only just arrived, as it required another print run after selling out. This is full of the art for the animated movie, which was released last year and has won multiple awards since. As expected, the DreamWorks delivers another great artbook with Abrams that highlights the concept art, key art, storyboards and more. March 5th 2025 Despite being planned for later this month, The Art of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has been delayed in the run up to its release. This information was highlighted to me through an email and confirmed on the game's official store, which can be found here . The book is now due to be published on May 15th 2025 and applies to both the English and Czech versions of the book. This is the second book for the series, with the first, The Art of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, being made for the first game, as the name implies. That book is also still available on their store, though only in German and Czech. Both books are made by Warhorse Studios in partnership with publisher Xzone Originals. Like the last book, this one is also set to be filled with concept art and insights from the development team that will give fans a look behind the curtain at how this game was made. As mentioned in the listing, the first book sold thousands of copies in Europe, so now Xzone is hoping to surpass those sales with this follow up, especially with an English edition available. The game was released on February 4th 2025, which means that, despite the delay, this artbook is still coming much sooner after release than is typical. While this was once the norm, it is more common for an artbook to be published up to 3 years after the launch of the game it is based on. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has done extraordinarily well, selling 2 million copies in the first couple of weeks, as well as receiving high praise from players. February 20th 2025 Marvel are keeping this site busy with new listings and information, now yet another blow has been delivered to Marvel Studios' She-Hulk: Attorney at Law - The Art of the Series . Not long before release, they have again pushed it out, but fortunately by only a week. The ongoing saga of delays for this book continues, as it was originally due a year ago, but is now dated for March 4th. The current date changes now look as followed; February 2024 > June 2024 > August 2024 > November 2024 > January 2025 > February 25th 2025 > March 4th 2025. No reason is ever given, no statement ever made, delays are only spotted by checking online retail listings or getting notifications from a retailer you pre-ordered with. If one book was delayed, you could understand that, but every book and usually multiple times? You'd have thought they would work on solving the problem. It would now be a shock if they hit a release date the first time. As stated in the last article about its delay, found here , this is coming out two and a half years after the show aired, no doubt impacting its sales potential. It is now expected in the same month as Marvel Studios' Loki: Season Two - The Art of the Series, which has also experienced its own delays. A good mix this month of books for comic art, video games, animation and TV! 4th - The Marvel Art of Michael Turner Please note, the book is currently releasing on the 17th of April in the UK. *Update 03/03/2025 - Clover Press themselves have informed me via Bluesky that this book is actually due on March 26th. My dates are based on online listings, but the publisher has confirmed their information is incorrect. This is the 5th entry in the Clover Press series of Marvel artbooks, this time for Michael Turner . The book was successfully crowdfunded and is now getting it's full release with 200 pages of art. It is a showcase of Michael's talent, including his incredible work on Daredevil, X-Men, Spider-Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America and more! A perfect addition to a shelf for fans of his art, presented in a high quality book. It is part of the post-Endgame run of books without a slipcase, bringing the price down from the more recent listings that have included them again. As with other Marvel Studios books, it is full of the art for the characters, settings, costumes and key moments, with insights from the development team too. This one is coming out very shortly after the game, which is unusual for video game artbooks now, but that does mean it has been pushed out with each game delay. With Shadows seemingly good to go in March, players will finally get their hands on this book. Expect character costume exploration and stunning environment art from the team at Ubisoft. It's authored by Marine Macq and comes with over 300 pages of art, storyboards, 3D models and illustrations for the game. It will also include a lot of unused material. The text in The Art of Jusant - The Great Expedition comes in both English and French. The book can be ordered on the Pix'n Love website and ships from France. 25th - The Art of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II The series gets a second game and a second artbook. It comes with 300 pages and will include art for the recently released RPG, which includes sketches and technical drawings. Players will get insights into the development process too. March 3rd 2025 X-Men ’97: The Art and Making of the Animated Series was set for release June 17th, but that has now been shifted to different dates for different countries. As found on online listings, the UK date has been moved to June 19th, only two days later than previously planned. Artbooks typically release on a Tuesday, so this is an unusual change, as the 19th is a Thursday. In the US it's a more significant shift, as the book has unfortunately been delayed to July 1st by publisher Abrams, confirmed by multiple retailers, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble. July 1st is a Tuesday, but it is not often artbooks release first in the UK or Europe before America. When there is a difference, it is usually the other way around. Dates are always subject to change though, so it's possible some regions are yet to update their information. I use Amazon a lot for checking releases, as they are often the first to add new books and updates, but this can happen at different speeds in different countries. France for example, also has the book coming July 1st, but Germany has the book showing for release on April 29th, which is almost certainly an old date. Reasons for the delay are unknown and only noticed when checking listings, as I often do. People familiar with delays will be aware that publishers are great at announcing books, but are often radio silent when they are pushed out. This can make tracking dates difficult, so it is unclear exactly when this change occurred. The book is based on the return of the animated series, diving into the art for characters, costumes, animation, storyboards and more. Like the previous book, X-Men: The Art and Making of The Animated Series, based on the popular original run, it will also provide insights into the making of the show from the creators. X-Men '97 was released on Disney+ to the delight of fans, picking up where the story left off. Another season is also coming, though that recently received its own delay into 2026, but this could mean that another artbook will also be coming in the future. March 2nd 2025 The Art of Invincible Season Two has been pushed once again, but like the last delay, there is conflicting information online as to when it is coming. Image Comics are the publisher and previously moved the book to June 25th, but now have it listed for August 6th on their website . As the publisher, I am inclined again to change the date on the Upcoming page based on their information. However, online stores have it releasing in July. Checking on US sites, the book is down for release on July 8th and can been seen on places such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. This was previously allocated to the UK release, which has also been pushed. In the UK the publication date is currently July 22nd. It is also headed to Europe, but it has not yet been updated and is still showing as June 10th in places like Germany and France on Amazon, which is the previous date for the US release. This again highlights the lack of consistency in the information from retailers for the book. As I reported with the last delay , no set date can really be determined. Artbooks in general suffer from them all the time, but it's not often that dates don't match like this, especially each time the book is pushed out. This will be a follow up to The Art of Invincible Season One, that hit stores in 2024. It is also worth noting that this book came out later in the UK as well, but only by a week. It is set to include key art and concept art for the characters, locations and more, with insights and interviews with the creators and team behind the popular animated series. March 1st 2025 A new selection of products was announced at this years Warhammer Relics festival, with one in particular that may catch the eye of art and artbook fans. Part of the festival is unveiling new licensed products for Warhammer, including toys, clothing and of course, books. You can find that list of announcements on the Warhammer Community website here. One of these is Warhammer Video Game Art , a new book from Games Workshop and publisher DK, expected to become available on November 4th 2025. It is set to include art for the games set in the Warhammer universe, from across more than 30 years of releases. Warhammer have a rich history in gaming, from real-time strategy games to first person shooters and across multiple generations of hardware. Their recent release from last year, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, was a big hit with fans and will be one of games featured in the book. Dawn of War is also confirmed, with other titles, such as Boltgun, featured on the cover. However, it is worth noting that this cover is not final, but as it is used on the DK website , it is likely these other games will also be included. As expected with an artbook, it will showcase concept and marketing art for the games, with commentary and insights behind the titles. It is listed as having 208 pages and comes in at 28.6 x 30.3 cm in size. I will be looking forward to adding this to the collection too, so as well as expecting any updates to be reported here, you'll find previews and a review when it arrives.
