September 16th 2025

The onslaught of delays continue for The Art of Rust, with yet another date change spotted on the website of the publisher Dark Horse. This marks the 6th setback in as many months since its reveal in March, having already been pushed out of 2025.

Last moved to January 6th 2026, the book is now expected on January 27th, which you can find on the official website here. The 192-page hardcover made in partnership with the developer Facepunch Studios was originally due on September 9th, but has since found itself slipping further and further back in the release schedule of the publisher. The reasons are again unknown, as the delays are not acknowledged and reported exclusively here when a change is noticed.

Having written this article 6 times now, there is not to much to say that I haven't already, as no new information or previews are available for the book. We know that it will focus on concept art for the characters, costume designs, wildlife, weapons, vehicles, and environments of the first-person survival game and that it comes in the 9" x 12" hardcover format that Dark Horse commonly uses.

Hopefully this will be the last delay for the book, which seems to be encountering some issues behind the scenes, but future updates will be shared here if there are more. A copy will also be joining the collection to be previewed and reviewed when it arrives next year. Those interested in The Art of Rust can pre-order it here for their own shelf;
