The upcoming two-volume book set showcasing the artwork of fantasy illustrator Paul Bonner has suffered a long delay and is now not expected until deep into the year 2026.
As spotted on the website of the publisher Titan Books, the original release date for The Art of Paul Bonner: Down From The Mountains was October 28th, but this has just moved almost an entire year back to September 1st 2026. The two books will feature 704 pages between them and will showcase Bonner's artwork from 2008 until the present day. He is best known for for his work across board games, card games, and book covers.

This is an unusual delay, because although they can often happen the month before release as seen here, typically it isn't a long push back when this close to the finish line. What the reason could be is unknown, as Titan Books is one of the many publishers that move back books all the time with no public acknowledgement. A book set of this size comes with the reasonable expectation that any change or scheduling issue could be more problematic than most, but without word from the publisher, it's hard to speculate as to why this has happened.
As well as highlighting incredible fantasy artwork, The Art of Paul Bonner: Down from the Mountains will provide insights into the creation and inspirations of the art. It will also feature early sketches of his pieces, so you can see how the images were developed from their initial stages. The chosen pieces inside were curated by Bonner himself and will include art from Riotminds’ Trudvang Chronicles, Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering, CMON’s The Dead Keep, and more. You can see some preview pages below that show how early sketches are used across the volumes alongside his striking finished art.
Paul Bonner is an award-winning artist that has contributed to the worlds of big names in the industry, including Games Workshop's Warhammer series, Dungeons & Dragons, and World of Lone Wolf, as well as creating covers for J.R.R. Tolkien's books. In 2007 Bonner also released Out of the Forests: The Art of Paul Bonner, also with Titan Books as the publisher, which featured 176 pages of his art up to 2008, where this new release will pick up from.
