This week on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel is a preview of for Dark Souls III: Design Works, highlighting the artwork for the third entry in the hugely popular series!

This is the English version of the book that was published by Udon Entertainment in 2018 and follows Design Works books for the previous Dark Souls games too. This is also an earlier cover that matches the original 2017 Japanese version, which has since been updated. The hardcover book comes with 336 pages of art and illustrations for the hit game and its DLC.

Inside the focus is on the art, you won't find insights and production details here like other books, which is the approach to all artbooks from the game's developer FromSoftware. It's also much more of an illustration book too, as it doesn't include early sketches and unused concepts, but rather the detailed renders to showcase the talent of the artists. It covers the classes, enemies, locations, items, weapons, and more from the game.

FromSoftware's Dark Souls III from 2016 is a dark fantasy RPG that brings back a mix of brutal combat and interconnected world design. Players take on the role of the Ashen One, an undead warrior tasked with linking the First Flame or leaving it to die, all while taking in deadly enemies that continue the series' punishing difficulty. Like before, it also tells its story though through cryptic dialogue, items, and environments, that piece together the lore of its world. The game is critically acclaimed and a favourite for many in not just the Dark Souls series, but in the genre too. The game was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows.
