An additional book preview is up on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel this week, with a look at the recently released Starfield Visual Compendium!
This hardcover from Dark Horse in partnership with the game's developer Bethesda Game Studios dives into the sci-fi RPG Starfield. It was released on September 16th and comes with a huge 368 pages that hold an incredible amount of art. It covers the characters, environments, creatures, ships, weapons, and more, delivering a wealth of the artists work to pore over. You can check out the preview below, as well as reading my in-depth review of the book here.
There's no wasted space in this book, much like the previous release from their partnership, The Art of Fallout 4. Inside is a great mix of early sketches, full colour concepts, and final designs, all highlighting the types of art that helped contribute to the making of a new universe from Bethesda. The art first approach is clear on every page and that makes this book also appealing to artists looking for sci-fi references and inspiration.
Starfield was released in 2023 and is a sprawling action-RPG that takes players in to the cosmos, allowing them to travel to different planets. Like previous games from Bethesda, you take your own created character out into game's world to explore and meet character and factions for new story missions and side quests. This time, the developer has used procedurally generated content which has resulted in there being over 1000 planets to visit. It also features base building that was introduced in Fallout 4, as well a ship content that is unique to Starfield. The game is currently exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC and has also released an expansion, Shattered Space, with their second on the way, titled Starborn.
