The Fantastic Four: First Steps Artbook Suffers Short Delay

The upcoming artbook for the debut of Marvel Studios' take on The Fantastic Four has been hit with a delay, giving those wanting a copy a little longer to wait to see the early art and insights for the movie.

Marvel have left it until just over a month before its release to delay the upcoming book, Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps - The Art of the Movie, a now expected update for the ongoing series. This is the 27th book in a row to miss its original release date from the publisher, which is every book so far in the Multiverse Saga, so while this is disappointing, it's sadly not unexpected either.

The good news is that the delay is just a week long, moving the release from November 18th to November 25th 2025, as spotted on retailer listings. The slipcase set was originally listed in February, but has had multiple updates since, including page count changes and the details of a second book. The price is the only thing that has remained the same, though comments online share the same concerns that were expressed here, because $150 is a lot to ask for what's included. As noted above, delays are common for Marvel artbooks, but while they are frequent across all publishers, Marvel in particular has really struggled, with some being delayed multiple times for up to a year. Of the previous 26 artbooks, only one was delayed once, one was listed and cancelled, and in the case of the artbook for the animated show What If...?, it was cancelled by Marvel and then published later by Abrams Books.

This website has been harsh on Marvel's handling of their books when it comes to delays, but once you have delayed more than 10 in a row, let alone now 27, it's not unfair to say that if they are trying to course correct, it's not working and it's safer to assume that any original release date will not be the final one. More often than not the books are worth the wait though, so it would be good to see them stick the superhero landing. At one time the books also came out just weeks after the movies they were based on, and while some have recently come out after more than a year later, they have done a great job at catching up with 2025 movies.

Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps - The Art of the Movie comes as a slipcase with a 256-page 'Art of' book and a 32-page 'Portfolio' book with blueprints and designs, the first to include two books. It also comes with 5 lithograph prints that were present in the standard slipcase releases.
