  • 'The Art of Star Wars: Visions Volume 2' Delayed Indefinitely

June 18th 2025 The upcoming artbook for Star Wars Visions has been delayed with no explanation and now looks to be on hold. The title has also been removed or made unavailable on retailer websites. The Art of Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 , written by Amy Ratcliffe and published by Dark Horse, was due to be released on July 17th after the latest update. The 192‑page hardcover book was set to showcase the concept art, storyboards, and insights for the second season of the animated Star Wars: Visions show. When this change happened is not clear and only noticed when checking listings for any updates. This abrupt delay came without an official statement or explanation, as is normal for the vast majority of artbook schedule changes. The book is no longer on the Dark Horse website either, implying this is more than a simple delay and possibly a cancellation. The Art of Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 cover art Delays are common for artbooks, however, an indefinite one is highly unusual and usually indicates it won't be coming at all. That's not to say that this is definitely the case, but I cannot think of a time where this happened and the book was released. The last case of this happening was for the Secret Invasion artbook from Marvel Studios, which was listed for last September and will not be coming out. In the case of The Art of Star Wars: Visions Volume 2, the book cannot be found on Amazon US or UK via the search. However, a direct link can get you to the page, with the US listing stating it is unavailable with a new release date of January 2nd 2079, a date I have seen in the past as a placeholder. The UK page , as well as others from Europe, have it as unavailable with the old release date. The Canadian page still has it up for pre-order, but with the 2079 placeholder too. When searching for the book the usual book sites are not appearing here in the UK and the most popular retailers also have no listing. It is possible that those that pre-ordered have been notified that the book has been delayed or cancelled, but this can depend on the retailer, as not all of them do this. Given that the second season came out over 2 years ago, there would already be a smaller potential audience because people can move on from movies and show quickly, especially in today's world of streaming services and endless waves of news things to watch. Delaying this book further would only make this worse, making it possible to speculate that this could be a potential reason to cancel it entirely. Or it may simply be that there are other issues involved. Another problem that could be facing this release was reported recently on this website for the upcoming artbook, The Art of Star Wars Outlaws . Dark Horse does not have the permission from Lucas Publishing to ship or sell Star Wars artbooks or comics to the UK, but also seemingly all countries outside of American territories, limiting the possible sales numbers even more. You can read about that licensing issue here. Again, this is all speculation, but as there has been no public acknowledgement of the delay/ cancellation, it's all anyone can do. No doubt fans that did want to the book will be disappointed, but fortunately they do have the third season of the animated series around the corner, with a premier date of October 29th 2025 on Disney+. The show itself has received high praise from the Star Wars fandom, so being able to watch the new episodes soon will give those wanting another artbook their fix of Visions. If there are any updates on the book, they will be reported here, as well as for other Star Wars artbooks. Tags; #StarWars #StarWarsVisions #DarkHorse #LucasPublishing #Disney #DisneyPlus

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Artbook Announced by Pix'n Love

May 20th 2025 Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the critically acclaimed game from developer Sandfall Interactive, is getting the artbook treatment later this year, as announced today by French publisher Pix'n Love on social media. There is currently very little known about the book, only that it will be released in 2025 by Pix'n Love in partnership with the developer and the game's publisher, Kepler Interactive. It is no surprise that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will have an artbook though, it's not only a hugely popular game already, but the visuals are one of its many highlights. Last month I posted an article with my video game artbook predictions for games released this year, with this Clair Obscur being a wildcard at the time, as it was uncertain how it would perform with sales. After being released to huge success, an artbook became inevitable, with the only speculation left to be based on who the publisher would be. Pix'n Love being the publisher makes sense, not only because they have published artbooks before, but they are also located in France, where Sandfall Interactive is based. Their previous books include The Art of Dordogne and the recent release, The Art of Jusant - The Great Expedition , with both games also made by French teams. These books included text in English and French, a feature that if continued in the upcoming artbook, will be most welcome for those that speak English. It's worth mentioning that the French publisher sells books from their own website and location, so unlike the larger publishers who can send stock to vendors worldwide, it does mean that shipping costs will play a factor for those outside of France. Importing books has become increasingly expensive, even from one country to another inside of Europe. Given the popularity of the game, one would hope that shipping options have been explored, as it will likely have a high demand around the world. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released on April 24th of this year and was met with huge praise from both critics and players. It's already being considered a game of the year contender, with people praising the story, performances, visuals and its interactive turn-based combat. It has sold over 2 million copies already, an incredible achievement for not only a new IP, but also for a game made by a core team of around 30 people. More news is to come for the book, all of which will be reported here. You can also order other books from the Pix'n Love by visiting their website - www.pixnlove.com/99-artbooks . • Book Review - Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie

June 13th 2025 The Infinity Saga series from Titan Books returns with its 13th release, looking back at the early artwork for 2016's Doctor Strange. These new books are rereleases of the original artbooks from Marvel Studios, revisiting their run from the original Iron Man through to Spider-Man: Far From Home. Titan Books kindly sent me an early copy to dive into for this newest entry, so I can give you my thoughts on the book ahead of its release on June 17th! Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie dives into the concept art and designs behind the debut of Stephen Strange and the world of magic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since then, Doctor Strange has become a fan favourite on the big screen, with this release highlighting the work of the artists that helped the iconic comic book character make his big entrance into the MCU. I’ll go over my thoughts with the usual 5 points; build quality, content, credits, use of space and value. These will be organised differently than usual to compare the book to the original release from 2016, simply titled Marvel’s Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie . I’ve always considered the original to be one of the stronger entries in the artbook series, so was looking forward to seeing how this new version holds up to the Marvel published original. The titles of these artbooks are very long, so I will shorten this one throughout the review to simply Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie. Content Coming in at 344 pages, this book is packing a huge amount of concept art. One of the best things about the Infinity Saga artbooks was the lack of a page cap, so some were treated to a lot of content. In this book you get art for every aspect of the movie; characters, key frames, storyboards, settings, weapons, marketing material, and the magic itself. If you’re a Doctor Strange fan then you’ll be more than happy with what is featured here, because not only is there a lot to pore over, but the talent of the art team is on full display with incredible artwork across the board. It’s important to note that the content here is the same as what you get in the original release, so if you missed out before, this is a perfect way to see all the artwork, without worrying about anything being excluded. Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie highlights the concept art for the characters like all other books in the series, but as it is the debut of everyone you see on screen, it means you get a lot of interesting early ideas and designs for each. Doctor Strange, Mordo, The Ancient One and Kaecilius get a lot of page space, with artists like Ryan Meinerding, Karla Ortiz, Jackson Sze, and more getting to showcase why they are some of the best in the business. It’s only Wong that is lacking in concept art here, but perhaps at the time they didn’t expect him to be such a big player moving forward in the MCU. There are also a lot of key frames throughout, depicting important moments of the movie, from Strange’s time in the hospital, through to action sequences later in the movie. These are common in Marvel artbooks, but welcome again here, especially as a lot show how things could have looked, not just the art for what you see on screen. As expected in an artbook that has a lot of early and unused designs, there is a good chunk dedicated to developing the look of the astral plane and other dimensions too, with surreal and abstract explorations of how these would look in the movie. You don’t often get stuff like this from Marvel, the only other place it's seen is in art for Quantum Realm from the Ant-Man series, but Doctor Strange has the opportunity to take it a step further and it makes for an interesting section of the book. The text includes commentary from Kevin Feige, director Scott Derrickson, the actors, and the art team, adding deeper insights about both the movie itself and the art. The series has always done a good job at not being too text heavy, while also adding valuable perspectives. You can read about the making of the movie, the sets, characters, the intentions behind the designs and even the ideas they had when writing and creating the script. As much as the art can easily stand on its own two feet and offer a lot to people who buy the book, the commentary provides even more value here. It’s always nice to hear from actors too, so it’s interesting to read about the movie from the viewpoint of Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen. Credits If you have any of the Marvel artbooks, new or old, you know what to expect here. Each image is credited to an artist on the page with their surname and a page at the back of the book lists their full names, as well as each page they are featured on too. It’s the best way to do it that I have seen and a consistent feature of the Marvel Studios’ artbooks. Build Quality Getting into the comparisons now and there are come clear differences between this new Infinity Saga series version from Titan Books and Marvel’s own release. The big one of course is a lack of a slipcase, something included in the original run. This slipcase is more than decorative, it’s very sturdy and protective too, but this is a trade-off, because they have brought the price down by not including it here. The new hardcover book is a little smaller too, coming in at 24 x 27cm, which is still a good size. The original was 24.5 x 29.5 cm without the slipcase, so not a huge amount of difference. As mentioned before, the artwork included in both is the same and therefore the page count is too. An inclusion I like with the new Titan Books version of Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie is the art on the dust jacket. The front features the original book’s wrap around cover and underneath the dustjacket is the front and back of the slipcase. They could have left it blank underneath, so it’s a thoughtful extra. Where things begin to get interesting is with the binding. Something I found with another Titan Books’ Infinity Saga artbook, for the first Avengers movie, is that the binding is improved in the new version. As you can see in the photos below, Titan Books has added more flex to the binding, as well as an increased number of page signatures. This added flexibility allows the pages to open more easily and, as I will touch on shortly, helps with some of the art too. The binding on the original from Marvel is tight and the pages don’t lay flat because of this, a problem with many of their books. An improvement in quality I also really like is in the brightness of the art. The originals had suffered with dark prints, not great for seeing details in the art for some environments, or dark costumes on a dark background. But as you can see, Titan Books have done a fantastic job and making the art not just brighter and more clear, but more vibrant too. A huge selling point for these rereleases. Use of Space The Marvel artbooks have always been strong in this regard, they fill up the pages and waste none of the real estate available. A big reason this book has a large amount of pages is the number of double page spreads included. It is appreciated that rather than keeping the page count lower, they bulked this entry up to accommodate them. However, it does come with a drawback that is a common issue in artbooks, which is image loss. When crossing the centre fold, often some of the art is either cut off or obscured and that happens here too. The good news is that it is less of an issue in the new Titan Books version due to the previously mentioned improvement in the binding, but earlier pages don’t escape it entirely. It’s unfortunately unavoidable, but I’m happy that the new version has improved things by a good margin in this regard. One small disadvantage with this rerelease if the placement of text, as due to the change in size, the placement is altered to remain clear. Text in this book is placed over the images in almost all cases because art fills the pages. Fortunately, it doesn’t obscure the focus of the image in either version, being found in the corners or bottom of character pieces. But, because of the smaller pages, the text does cover more of the art than before to remain a readable size, with headings also doing the same thing. This is still done as well as it can be, but it is worth pointing out. Despite this, I am personally happy to have this as a smaller issue, as it comes with the big improvement in binding and print quality. Value This is the selling point of The Infinite Saga series from Titan Books, because by the resizing the books and not including the slipcase, the price point is very good. Not only this, but some of the original books are now rare and hard to come by. In the case of Doctor Strange, the original artbook is over £100/ $100, with some cheaper or much higher depending on the condition. The Titan Books rerelease is available for an RRP of £35/ $40 and that's without the possibility of a discount, which is common. Using Amazon as always for fair comparisons, in the UK it has at one time reached 23% off, but this does of course fluctuate. For over 300 pages of the same incredible art, the value for money here, as it has been for each rerelease, is unquestionable. If you missed out before, due to being a new fan or its availability, this is a great way to add the art of Doctor Strange to your collection. Verdict One of the strongest artbooks from the Infinity Saga gets a highly recommended rerelease, perfect for fans that missed out on the original. Marvel Studio’s The Infinity Saga – Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie collects hundreds of pieces of concept art for an impressive price, while improving on some aspects of the original 2016 artbook. Although not perfect, if you want more Doctor Strange or you’re collecting the entire series from Titan Books, this is a superb addition to any shelf and the best printed showcase of the wonderful talent of the artists at Marvel Studios. June 10th 2025 Clover Press have now launched their Kickstarter for the new book focused on the incredible artwork of Tyler Kirkham. This book is part of their ongoing 'Marvel Art of' series that delivers volumes of art from some of the best in the comic book industry. The Marvel Art of Tyler Kirkham is already confirmed to be making its way to retailers after being successfully funded within hours of the crowdfunded campaign launching. At the time of writing this, it has already made over $80,000, far surpassing its $10,000 goal to fund the book. This follows a series of big wins for the publisher, who had six previous Marvel artbooks reach their goal in similar fashion. Fans of Kirkham can still back the project until July 4th and secure their own copy here - Kickstarter page . The book comes as a high quality 9" x 12" hardcover, boasting 200 pages of art, a spot gloss cover, red gilded edging and a cloth bookmark. This makes for a worthy presentation of the stunning artwork of Kirkham, who has worked on a large number of characters at Marvel, as will be showcased in the book. The characters featured include some of the most popular names in the Marvel universe, such as Spider-Man, Deadpool, Carnage, X-Men, Moon Knight and Venom. • 'The Art of Star Wars Outlaws' Will Not Be Available Outside of the US

April 10th 2025 Sad news has struck for Star Wars Outlaws players outside of American territories hoping to get hold of the artbook this summer, as The Art of Star Wars Outlaws will not be available to buy from local retailers. As I often do, I was looking for the best price on the upcoming artbook from Dark Horse and Massive Entertainment, but found that most book sellers have no available listing. Having contacted a retailer to enquire about this release, the response was that the book will not be sold in the UK. This has since been confirmed with Dark Horse themselves via email, who informed me that they do not have the license to sell or even ship Star Wars comics to the UK and that likely extends to all publications from them for the franchise, including Star Wars artbooks. They have not let me know at the time of writing this about other countries affected. I have also checked Amazon sites for Europe and some have no listing for the book at all. The German site has it as being sold through Amazon themselves, with no third party sellers matching the location. In Italy it is simply unavailable, indicating this isn't restricted to the UK. The Japanese Amazon store also has it as unavailable. Canada may also be in a similar situation, as I could not find listings on retailer websites outside of Amazon. Cover art for The Art of Star Wars Outlaws Although some countries do have listings on Amazon, I could not confirm what would happen if you placed an order with them. It may become an import order by default, or the order could be cancelled, but I'm unfamiliar with how this would work, only able to say that some regions do give you the option to place an order. The Art of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor , that was released in 2024, also wasn't available outside of the US at launch due to licensing issues. Because of this, my order of that book here in the UK was cancelled and I had to import it. Some copies became available online at a later date, but not from known stores such as WH Smith and Waterstones, but rather third party sellers through other websites who may also import the book. All these signs seem to indicate that The Art of Star Wars Outlaws is restricted to America due to the deal between Lucas Film and Dark Horse. This will no doubt be highly frustrating for fans hoping to add the book to their collection using their go to retailer. Fortunately for some players with access to sites like Amazon and Ebay, importing books isn't too difficult and can even be cheap or free in some instances. This licensing deal must have come in during the last 6 years as The Art of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which was released in 2019 by Dark Horse, was not restricted and is held by UK retailers. This is true for other European countries I have checked too, so this wasn't always the case. Abrams Books are able to sell their Star Wars artbooks for the movies and shows worldwide, highlighting that this arrangement is just with Dark Horse. The book will still be joining the collection here when it is released August 19th, one I'm looking forward to as Star Wars has a strong legacy of quality artbooks for its movies, shows, animation and video games. Star Wars Outlaws also has a lot to offer for an artbook, with a look at concept art for new characters, ships, weapons, and both familiar and unfamiliar locations too, giving it the potential to be a superb companion to the open world game. If the situation changes, I will share the news here. If you are outside the US and can confirm you can order the book, please reach out so I can update the story. • English Edition of 'Elden Ring: Official Art Book Volume III' Release Date Confirmed

June 10th 2025 The upcoming artbook for Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC finally has a date for its release in the West, revealed yesterday by its publisher Udon Entertainment. Elden Ring: Official Art Book Volume III was released in Japan in December of last year through Kadokawa as a paperback, with the book to release elsewhere at a later date. Like the previous volumes for the base game of Elden Ring, the English version is coming as a hardcover through Udon Entertainment, who have worked on the translated editions for many artbooks from the Japanese publisher. Until yesterday, the exact release date was unknown, but in a post on their website , Udon have confirmed that the 320-page artbook is set to hit shelves on November 4th 2025. It comes 8.25”x11.75” in size and will have the same content as the Japanese original. As well as the release date, the final cover art was revealed, as seen here. Elden Ring: Official Art Book Volume III cover art Elden Ring: Official Art Book Volume III will highlight the artwork for the hugely popular DLC that was released in 2024. Those that enjoyed the previous volumes of art will no doubt want to pick this one up as well for more from the award-winning RPG. As expected, it will showcase the art of the dark settings and environments, nightmarish enemies, and the tools players use to take them on. Developed by FromSoftware, Shadow of the Erdtree expanded the world of Elden Ring, giving players more to explore and additional enemies to vanquish, but of course, get vanquished by too. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki released something special with Elden Ring, managing to take a brutally difficult and inaccessible gameplay and make it mainstream in the world of gaming, winning endless awards too, including for the DLC. Check out some preview pages of the book below! Some bonus news was also shared in the update, as Elden Ring: Official Art Book Volume I and Volume II will be getting a reprint too, so those that missed out before will have the chance to add them to their collection. These reprints are expected in the fall. Any future updates on the books will be shared here and be sure to keep an eye out for the books when they arrive later this year. • 'The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte' Silently Delayed

June 9th 2025 Despite being given a new release date in April at Star Wars Celebration Japan, a delay has hit the upcoming artbook for the Disney+ series, The Acolyte. The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte was announced last summer at SDCC for release in July, but then all went quiet on the book until a couple of months ago. In the last update, the cover was revealed for the book, along with a new release date of October 7th, making that its first delay. Now though, the book has been moved again, this time to January 13th 2026, only spotted when checking the listings on retailer websites. The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte cover art This is unfortunately a classic move in the artbook space, a big fuss about announcing a book, but then quietly pushing the release date back with no public acknowledgement. Delays, as explained on this site weekly, are very common and there are usually more delays to report than announcements when it comes to 'Art of' books With books like this it is especially odd, because although Star Wars is a huge franchise, this show in particular didn't perform as Disney had hoped, leading to its cancellation. Pushing the date out then will only shrink the already limited potential audience for the book. This has no bearing on the quality of the contents, but as someone looking at this from the outside, it isn't a good situation for a release. Disney have a similar issue with the Marvel Studios' artbooks, dating them long after the release of a show or movie, only to then delay them further and out of the minds of fans. This can often be reflected in their position on Amazon book lists, placing them much lower down than other artbooks based on IP that isn't anywhere near as popular. Fortunately in the case of The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte, its ranking isn't too bad, indicating it has been selling pre-order copies, which is good news for publisher Abrams. The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte will give buyers a look at the art behind the series set during the High Republic period. It is set to feature the concept art for characters, vehicles, weapons, locations and more, with insights throughout as expected. The Star Wars artbooks are always of high quality and showcase the work of incredible artists, so although it will be a long wait, those that do get a copy are almost certainly going to get some great stuff. Future updates will be shared on this website and those interested can pre-order the book here for when it arrives on January 13th; Tags; #TheAcolyte #StarWars #AbramsBooks #Lucasfilm #Disney

  • 'The Art of The Outer Worlds 2' Coming This December

June 9th 2025 The anticipated sequel to The Outer Worlds from Obsidian Entertainment is just around the corner and now comes with an upcoming artbook, The Art of The Outer Worlds 2 ! Working with Dark Horse Books, who are frequently revealing new video game artbooks, the game developer is offering fans a look behind the curtain at their outlandish role-playing game, The Outer Worlds 2. Set for release on December 16th, players will get the chance to see the early concept art for the characters, enemies, weapons, creatures and environments of the game. It will come as a hardcover and 208 pages to pore over. It's listed with a RRP of $55, although we all know artbooks rarely sell at full price. As well as this, players wanting more from the Arcadia star system will also be treated to insights from the development team behind the game. The following was included in the press release from Dark Horse; "After painstakingly assembling this treasured content that will be the highlight of every valuable client’s assets, we are pulling back the curtain on a behind-the-scenes look at years of productive labor on the eagerly awaited sequel." The Art of The Outer Worlds 2 cover art The game is looking fantastic and perfectly suited for the artbook treatment, with its mix of over the top weapons, strange wildlife, dangerous robots and retro-futuristic environment designs. The exact art style of the game is hard to name, as its a blend of art nouveau, steam-punk, 'used future' and more. It's easier just to call it 'The Outer Worlds style' or not label it at all, because either way it looks charming, silly and fun. The Outer Worlds 2 is set to launch on October 29th and was just given its own Direct at the Xbox Showcase this past weekend. Players will only have a short wait before they get their hands on this new book, giving them the chance to finish their adventure before enjoying the art and insights that paint the picture of the game's creation. The wait for the sequel was a long time for some, but that has now been made worth it even more with this artbook coming too. Just based on what Obsidian have shown us already, this is a release I would have been requesting, so it's great news to have it revealed so soon and from a trusted publisher too. The Art of The Outer Worlds is available for pre-order now and those wanting to add it to their shelf can find it here; Tags; #TheOuterWorlds2 #ObsidianEntertainment #XboxGameStudios #DarkHorse

  • 'Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory' Artbook Now Coming in October

June 8th 2025 The upcoming artbook dedicated to the visual history of the iconic fighting series, from publisher Insight Editions and developer NetherRealm Studios, has sadly moved its release date back a couple of months. Originally set for release in August, online listings for Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory: A Visual History of the Iconic Series have been updated and moved the book to a new publication date of October 21st 2025. It's worth noting for those that notice, listings in the UK have it coming on October 16th, though I would be inclined to disregard this as almost all artbook come out on a Tuesday, which would be the 21st. Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory will feature the visual history of the gloriously violent fighting series that took over arcades in 1992. Included will be the early sketches and illustrations for the games across the book's more than 300 pages, covering their huge popularity from the 90's, through to today's gaming scene. As well as this, it will include interviews with NetherRealm Studios about their work continuing the legacy of the long-running series. The current placeholder cover for Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory Fans of the games will also get deep dives into the characters, environments and the moves themselves, making this the perfect book for players that need more Mortal Kombat in their life. There will also be details on what it takes to create the games too, making this much more than a book of artwork. When this delay happened is unknown, it is not a book I have checked for a while. Schedule changes, as anyone that takes a quick look at the news page will see, are very common for artbooks, so this isn't a unique situation. This book is coming with good timing though, as only a few days ago, during PlayStation's State of Play, it was announced that the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection is also coming this year. No exact date is given, but the collection will release on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One and both Nintendo Switch consoles. The confirmed games that will be included are as follows, with more to come; Mortal Kombat – 1992 Mortal Kombat II – 1993 Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995 Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995 Mortal Kombat 4 – 1997 Mortal Kombat Advance – 2001 Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance – 2002 Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition – 2003 It's looking like a good year for Mortal Kombat fans then and a perfect time for those newer to the series to go back and not only play the older releases, but see their artwork too. • 'Loki: Season 2 - The Art of the Series' Coming in August After Additional 1 Week Delay

June 7th 2025 A small date change has been spotted on retailer listings for the already long delayed artbook based on Loki. Fans will again have to wait a little longer to see the early art behind Marvel Studios' hit series. Originally due on October 1st of 2024, Marvel Studios' Loki: Season 2 - The Art of the Series has been a victim of multiple delays, with the last moving it to July 29th. Now though, the book is set to hit shelves on August 5th 2025, 10 months later than initially planned and a full year and 10 months after the second season premiered. I have spoken endlessly about the delays from Marvel for these books, but that's because they keep happening. At least this time the delay is only by a week. However, as the last book to come in the old format, without a slipcase and prints, it should have been released before Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine: The Art of the Movie , which was released last October and does have them. Like the artbook for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, date changes have been especially hard on this book and are never acknowledged or explained. Hopefully this is the last delay for people wanting a copy, but also because it becomes difficult to write about them. I can only say the same thing in so many different ways before I may as well copy and paste the previous articles. It's hugely frustrating that Marvel, for all the years they have been releasing comics and books, have been so consistently poor at sticking to their schedule. There is hope though, as Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie has not yet been delayed, which would make it the first in the last 25 books to hit its original release date. This book should be good though, as for all of their problems, the entries in the long-running series are more often than not superb, including the artbook for the first season. As well as this, art that has been released online is great, like the below from Karla Ortiz. As someone that really liked the show, this is one I'm excited to finally sit with and enjoy. Those interested can pre-order Marvel Studios' Loki: Season Two - The Art of The Series here; Tags; #Marvel #MarvelStudios #Loki #LokiSeason2

  • 'The Art of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2' Coming Later This Year from Dark Horse

June 6th 2025 * UPDATE 09:46pm 06/06/2025 The below gives a release date of November 18th, as this was conflicting with the retailer listings and book page on Dark Horse's website, I confirmed with the team that the correct date is in fact December 2nd 2025. The Upcoming page has been updated accordingly. Another artbook is coming later this year from Dark Horse, who are taking over the video game space with their ever growing catalogue. This time they are teaming with developer The Chinese Room and game publisher Paradox Interactive to give an exciting look at the upcoming title, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Revealed today, The Art of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will feature the concept art and insights behind the long-awaited game. The book is available for pre-order and set for release on November 18th 2025, coming as a hardcover with 192 pages. Being that this if from Dark Horse, expect a solid book with good binding and high quality paper. They are consistent in their format, making them a reliable publisher of artbooks, which would likely be why so many game companies choose to partner with them. It's worth noting that online listings have the book as being released in December, but the press release and blog post from Dark Horse do confirm it is coming in November. Should this change, it will be updated on this site accordingly. As expected, it will highlight the early and gore filled art for the characters and world of Seattle for the action role-playing game. The insights from the development team will also be of interest to a lot of fans, as the game has been in development for a long time and comes 21 years after the original. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is set to launch in October, putting the artbook release just a month later. This was something that was becoming uncommon, but a few books have been doing this recently, perhaps an indication that things could return to how they were before the pandemic. The game has been under an extensively long production period and saw The Chinese Room take over development in 2021, having been under Hardsuit Labs before that. The original release date of the game was March 2020, so it will make its way to players after 5 years of delays. In this time, it was reworked and rewritten, so it will be interesting to see how much of that will be covered in the art and commentary, if any at all. The game is set in the World of Darkness universe, specifically on the tabletop role-playing game, Vampire: The Masquerade. Players are more likely to know about it from the preceding 2004 game, Bloodlines, which was released on PC and played in both first and third person. This follow up is presented in the same way and follows Elder vampire Phyre in the 21st Century, dealing with clans and conspiracy within the vampire society. The Art of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is set to be an interesting book, one that will certainly join the collection here. Future updates and information for the artbook will be posted on this website and for anyone else that is interested in adding it to their collection, you can pre-order it here; Tags; #VampireTheMasqueradeBloodlines2 #VampireTheMasquerade #VampireTheMasquerade #WorldOfDarkness #DarkHorse #TheChineseRoom #ParadoxInteractive

  • 'Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective' Release Pushed to October

June 6th 2025 The upcoming artbook for the Metroid Prime games has just received a delay, despite having been due for release in less than a few weeks. Confirmed in a post from the publisher Piggyback, Metroid Prime 1–3: A Visual Retrospective : The Official Art and Making of Metroid Prime 1–3 has been pushed just before release an entire 4 months and is now expected on October 28th 2025. It was last due to be published on June 24th and was included in my Upcoming Artbooks: June 2025 article. Last minute delays have happened before, but the length of this one is unusual, a possible indication that something needs to be corrected or changed, delaying the production of the book. It's also not often that a public acknowledgement is made by a publisher for a delay, although in the post they just simply state there is a new date. This would be like a movie or game publisher saying their release has moved, without an apology or explanation. A post is something, but it's not the best look in the eyes of the fans. One could argue they don't need to explain themselves, but it can certainly never hurt. Regardless, when the book does arrive, it promises to deliver a cloth hardcover with high quality paper, filled with sketches and full colour art for the three Metroid Prime games. As well as this, it will include commentary and insights for the artwork and the 20 year run of the Nintendo series. The small previews online for the book are looking great and I expect that players wanting more Samus will be be eagerly awaiting the release. The book is still available to order now at all major retailers, including Amazon, Gamestop, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Target and more. It has an RRP of $49.99, which is in the range of pricing for most artbooks. A copy is still on order for the collection here, but sadly the review and previews will have to wait until it arrives October 28th! Those interested in Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective can pre-order it here for their own collection; Tags; #MetroidPrime #Piggyback #Nintendo #RetroStudios #Gamecube #Wii #Switch

  • Flip Through - Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series

June 6th 2025 The latest preview on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel is a look at Marvel Television's series, Agatha All Along! The newest entry in the ongoing series of artbooks for the MCU is Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series , released on June 3rd 2025. After multiple delays, it is finally available and is the second book to come with a slipcase and lithograph prints. It is also notably the first to come with the new 'Marvel Television's' title. The book highlights the art for the series, with a look at the costumes, sets, key frames, and more. As expected with projects from Marvel Studios, it also comes with insights from the team behind the creation of the show and the concept art. I wrote a review of the release, highlighting that there are issues with the book, including dark prints, that let it down, especially when it has such a high price tag. You can read that in full here - Book Review - Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series. Agatha All Along was the spin-off series following the introduction of Agatha Harkness in WandaVision as the villain. After the spell that kept her enchanted is broken, Agatha, along with the mysterious character Teen, creates a coven of witches to find and travel The Witches' Road, risking everything in an attempt to get her powers back. Of course, things are never as simple as planned, especially with a morally grey character leading the show. The series of artbooks is set to continue this year with more on the way. In 2025, the following books are still scheduled for release; Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World - The Art of the Movie Marvel Studios' Loki Season 2 - The Art of the Series Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps - The Art of the Movie Check out a preview of Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series above and subscribe to discover more artbooks to add to your own collection! • Book Review - The Art of Jusant: The Great Expedition

June 5th 2025 Jusant, the 2023 game from developer Don't Nod, gave players the control of a traveller and their mysterious companion on a vertical adventure up The Tower, using a climbing rope and few extra tricks to complete their epic journey. The world can now be explored again, this time through the early art and behind-the-scenes insights in the latest release from publisher Pix'n Love, The Art of Jusant: The Great Expedition . The book was released in May of 2025 and a copy has now joined the collection, so I can dive into the book and give you my thoughts on this latest offering from the French publisher. Pix'n Love's last artbook, The Art of Dordogne , was released in 2024, which I enjoyed, so I was curious to see more from them. Like that book, this was also authored by Marine Macq and comes with text in both English and French as well. Like all my reviews, I will go over the book with my thoughts on these five points; build quality, content, credits, use of space and value. Build Quality The book comes as a hardcover with 352 good quality gloss pages. It's a little smaller in dimensions than a lot of artbooks, measuring at just under 27cm x 22 cm, but still a good size. The landscape orientation was a good choice too, as a higher page count like this can be tough on the binding of a portrait book, so this is not a worry with The Art of Jusant. Overall, there isn't too much to say here, it's a great start with no complaints! Content As mentioned before, this book comes in both English and French, which is worth mentioning as the approach to the order of the contents can hit you hard for the first 100 pages. The reason for this is that it is frontloaded with the making of the game. The pages are text heavy, with sometimes just a single image or photo on a spread and at a quick glance looks like a lot to get through. However, as there are 2 languages being used side by side, you quickly realise that it's only a paragraph or two per page, so you do read through them much quicker than you might first expect. This part of the book is all about the history and making of the game, with quotes from the team at Don't Nod too. It covers a lot in these chapters and you learn a good amount, including about how the game started, the early story ideas, worldbuilding, characters, the visual history, and the production methods. It also includes some concept art and screenshots of both the game and the production process. These first four chapters give fans a good look at what it took to create Jusant and the Art Director, Edouard Caplain, shares a lot too. An example of an early page can be seen below. Placing this early on in the book isn't a common approach, many books will mix the history in with the art throughout, but like WipEout Futurism: The Graphic Archives , it works here. It's well written and packs a lot in, allowing the next 250 pages to focus on the art. The rest of the book is split into chapters for the early art, the main character, Ballasts, Fauna and Flauna, then finally the 5 different levels of the game. This is where it becomes a much more traditional 'Art of' book, but given the large page count, you still get a full books worth of content. The early pages are almost like an added bonus for those wanting all the nerdy details and history of the game. It could have very much been called 'The Art and Making of Jusant' for this reason, but I do prefer the used title. The art focused pages of the book shine the spotlight on the stunning visual work from the small team, including ideas and designs that were never used, which is always great to see. The wonderful scenery and designs of the game are a clear reflection of the talented people behind the art and this book gives them the showcase they deserve. From sketches, to full colour concepts and 3D created art, players won't be disappointed at what is included. The print quality here is also superb, the colours are vibrant and allows the book to highlight the different tones and moods that you get from playing the game itself. The art also comes with descriptions and the thoughts behind them, as well as why they went with some designs over others. The chapter for the character, Ballasts and wildlife are full of interesting and charming designs, some stuff so good you wish it was in the game, so it was nice to see it here despite not making the cut. The last five chapters are based on each section of the game and I like this a lot. The ascent in Jusant takes you through different biomes, all very distinct in their look and colour palettes, so having them split in the same way here emphasises that approach. Some of the pieces here are highlights for me personally, I really like the interesting designs, use of colour, and scale created in the art across all of the very different environment types. The announcement of this book already had me curious, but now I can definitely see why this game was chosen to get the artbook treatment. Each of the chapters based on the five levels of the game end on an interview with a member of the team too. Here you learn about their history, role and experience working on the game. This includes Cinematic Director Mathieu Beaudelin and concept artist Andrey Surnov, but also the lead animator, composer and technical artist for Jusant. Interviews in this way are also uncommon, further highlighting that this book isn't focused just on the art, but all aspects of development and the people that worked hard to bring it to life. Credits The art throughout is credited on the page as you can see in the preview photos. With the team being smaller for the studio, it only makes it easier to give them they credit they deserve, so I'm happy to see it here. Another short and sweet part of this review, as it is the best way to do it! Use of Space As mentioned, the early part of the book is text heavy, which may not be to the liking of everyone, so is very much a matter of preference. I like it here myself and the text isn't so small that it's like reading a novel. It's done as good sized chunks and the 2 languages are well separated and distinguishable, as the French is slightly bolder. The pages later on are well designed too, with little wasted space, good placement of the text and a mix of image sizes. Art that crosses the centre fold can sometimes be problematic due to image loss, but there is no problem with that here. Overall then, The Art of Jusant presents the art and insights very well. Value This release, like the previous ones from Pix'n Love, is sold directly from their website in euros. It is listed for €44.90, around £38/ $52, and is about the standard price for an artbook, so no problem here at all for what you get. The one issue you will find with pricing though is the shipping. Although not the fault of Pix'n Love themselves, shipping has become very expensive and so this should be considered if you are outside of France. Despite being a short distance away here in the UK, shipping added on around 50% to the overall price. I'm also aware to the US it's around €35, so just over an additional 75% on top. If interested in the book, be sure to add it to your backet on their site (found at the bottom of the page), so you can see the cost to deliver it. Verdict The Art of Jusant: The Great Expedition delivers deep insights and fantastic artwork, presented in a well designed book. Fans get the best of both in this release, the written story of how the game was made and a visual history of its creation through its concept art. Though you may have to pay the extra to get the book to where you are, if you enjoyed the game and want more from its world, you won't be disappointed. Having recently made the ascent up The Tower again myself, I can say that this is the perfect companion to the game and makes me appreciate it even more. I hope that Don't Nod consider working on future artbooks like this, it's a welcome addition to the collection and more like this would certainly make their way here too. If you are interested in ordering The Art of Jusant: The Great Expedition for your own collection, you can order it from Pix'n Love's website here; Tags; #Jusant #DontNod #PixNLove

  • Book Review: WipEout Futurism: The Graphic Archives

January 24th 2025 If you are after a book full of gaming nostalgia, WipEout: Futurism: The Graphic Archives might be what you are looking for. This book covers the history of the studio Psygnosis, later named Sony Liverpool, and the WipEout games from 1995 to 2017. If you have somehow stumbled across this review and are unaware of the WipEout series, they are zero gravity racing games that began on the original PlayStation, popular for their combination of visuals, speed and music. They began at the perfect time during the rave scene that was exploding in 90’s England. I see the book as a 3 piece combo meal, the written history, the graphic design and the art. It was created by Read-Only Memory and released as a limited edition book. This retail version is published by Thames and Hudson and was released in November 2024. Find out if this book belongs on your shelf here! Build Quality The book is a hardcover, which is great as it comes with a good heft of 320 pages. I’m happy to say they binding is solid, I see no issues here and the paper is of good quality too. The pages inside come in multiple colours, with some nice reflective spreads as seen below for the PlayStation jewel case covers, which is a really nice touch. It makes sense for a book called the Graphic Archives to have extra effort put into the presentation and the print quality is also superb. This was also made with the help of Studio Build, alumni of The Designers Republic, who worked on the graphic design in the WipEout games. Content The chapters are split into years, which guide you through the series. The pages largely come under 4 categories; text, graphic design, screenshots or art. There’s no set way for me in which a book should do things, though most books mix these things on each page, but if it feels right, then great and I feel like it works here with this separation. The text is what you are hit with first in each chapter and these pages are a written history of the studio and series development, including interviews from the development team. It covers a huge amount, including the studios creation, designing the logos, the art, limitations, wins, losses, music and projects that didn’t make it. It really does dive into everything, making for an interesting read that I know many will appreciate. These pages are very text heavy, with only smaller images included and that would usually be a negative for me, but they pull it off. With the higher page count, you’re not missing out on art and it breaks down what was happening in the time period that each chapter is split into. A video preview of the book The next showcase you come across after the history is the graphic design, this is for things like logos, iconography, fonts and more. The book is heavy on this content and is the first in my collection like this. If you have played the games though, you will go through this book and realise how important it was to the series. Whether you realised consciously or subconsciously while playing the WipEout games, the focus here really does showcase this fact. I was always a fan of the designs, which were made with The Designers Republic and became iconic among players. It felt ahead of its time, making it the perfect series for a book like this. These pages also include images of documents and notes from the developers in places too, little history pieces that preserve the communications behind the scenes and is a thoughtful inclusion. Batches of pages feature screenshots of the games too and having them come after the written history and art is a nice way to end each chapter. This is how it is for a good chunk of the book, as the concept art didn’t play a huge factor early on, because as they mention in its text, the art was more for the marketing and magazines early on. But in the later part of the book, you get a great section of development artwork and concepts. This is not a review of the art itself, but if you are a fan as I am, this is a fantastic pay off at the end of the book. The print quality really shines here as the colours and details jump off the page. They also include art for ideas that were not released as well, which is a highlight for me. I called this a 3 piece combo meal because of how to separates its different aspects. This isn’t a straight ‘Art of’ book, with concepts and bits of texts on each page. There are 3 separate books in here, you could title them ‘The History of’, ‘The Art of’ and ‘The Graphic Design of’. It divides them up in that way, but having them all in one book creates a package you can only call a love letter to the series. Credits Not every image is credited with an artists name, but you get smaller text with some details of what the image is of and when it is from. It is very simple, but it works within the context of the book and how it separates images and text. Use of Space The use of space here is interesting. A lot of books leave empty space due to terribly thought-out layouts, but this one, like some others, has spaces by design. It could have had less pages if they combined text and images throughout, there’s certainly room to do that, but more so on the graphic design pages, it feels like the large prints with no distractions works. I personally have no problem with it in this case, it’s bold, clean and in keeping with the games graphic design, but additionally because of the last part of this review, price and value. Value More pages must mean more money right? If they kept text and art separate, creating additional pages, one would assume they are charging a higher price, but the good news doesn't stop at the content. I always use Amazon for price checks, to keep it fair and consistent, though prices do change. The UK price was very reasonable when I got the book, which was £32, with a full retail price at £45. In the US it is $60 at full price, a couple dollars more than the UK after conversion, but no big change. While it is not strictly an 'Art of' book, this does put it in that same price range despite the higher page count, so another win for WipEout Futurism: The Graphic Archives. Verdict Finally my verdict then, does the price along with the content make this worth adding to you collection? You’ve probably already guessed that it does and for 2 reasons; First, because the value is great. The insights, the graphic design and art in this book is put together with care, presented thoughtfully and priced very reasonably. It makes it an easy recommendation. The second reason, though this is subjective, is because I’m the target audience. I played these games as a child on PlayStation, as an adult on PS4 and Vita and just in the last couple of years on PS5. I enjoy art, I like good design and I like a book. So I can say as someone this is made for, it stuck the landing. The only thing I would want from it is more, but you can only add so many pages and increase the price so much after all! I think the quantity and quality balance here works great and I hope more books like this get released. • Book Review - Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series

June 3rd 2025 Agatha Harkness made her return in 2024 with her own series on Disney+, Agatha All Along. Following her debut in WandaVision, she took the centre stage and travelled The Witches' Road with her new coven. Fans can now get a look at some of the concept art behind the show in the latest entry in the artbook series from Marvel Studios, titled Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series . After multiple delays, the book was finally released on June 3rd 2025 and comes less than a year after the show premiered, a much shorter time gap than many other books. It is the second artbook to come with a slipcase and five prints, and the first to come with the new moniker 'Marvel Television's', after Marvel Studios' rebranding. In this review I will cover my usual five points; build quality, content, credits, use of space and value, with details and my thoughts on each. Build Quality As previously mentioned, this book comes with a slipcase that comes with the above cover art. It is 30cm x 27cm in size and is very sturdy, built in the same way as the slipcases for the original Infinity Saga artbooks. This is more than decorative, it's protective too and I can speak to this as my first copy came damaged, the slipcase took the damage through the packaging and left the book unscathed. The book itself is what you expect from Marvel, a 29cm x 24.5cm hardcover with strong binding, coming with 224 pages. The paper isn't as thick as what you get in a lot of artbooks, but still of a good quality. The art on the cover this time round leaves a lot to be desired, they usually have a wrap-around piece of art featuring characters, but this is just the logo on an image of the forest coloured in purple. Like the previous book in this format, Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine: The Art of the Movie , the prints aren't anything special unfortunately. They feel like simple card, the image fills just over half the space and the print is very dark. They add nothing to the overall package for me personally and even those that do love prints will find that other artbooks on the market have had better offerings. Content As expected, the book showcases the art for the characters, settings, key frames and props, all with insights from the creative team, artists and actors. Marvel Studios have always been good at covering everything in the artbooks and that continues here. I'll start with the positives of the content, first by highlighting the great job they did with the insights throughout. Early on there is a lot of recapping and covering the story of Agatha, from her appearance on WandaVision, to where she is early on in the show. The book becomes much more interesting after this though, as you get to read about the costume designs and the thoughts behind them, how the sets were designed and working on props and extras. You get some nice stuff throughout, a lot of it from directly from writer Jac Schaeffer, the artists and the actors too, including Katherine Hahn, Joe Locke and Aubrey Plaza. You feel their passion for the show throughout, making it an engaging for the reader. Of course they art itself is superb too, but you expect nothing less from the team. The full credits page is below in the review, which has many names seen on other Marvel projects, with notable artists that include Jana Schirmer, Vance Kovacs and Karla Ortiz, among others. Unfortunately, this is all let by down by a few issues and one of them has been a plague on the Marvel artbooks for a while, rearing its head most notably here, which is the print quality. I feared ahead of time that this book would highlight their issues with dark prints and I was sadly correct in this instance. Dark locations or costumes, especially on dark backgrounds, have been a weak point of the Marvel artbooks as they hide details due to not being clear enough. Some books avoid this by simply not having images like this, such as entries for She-Hulk and Deadpool & Wolverine, both being lighter in tone and in colour palette. Here though, there are pages where it's back in force, such as those with costume designs for Agatha and Death, using blacks, blues and purples on darker backgrounds. This wasn't a big issue in older books, but even then the print quality and clarity has been much improved in the Titan Books rereleases, indicating this is not an image problem, but rather a Marvel published book problem. Finding the same images online also highlights it's a problem with the book, as on screen they are much clearer. It feels like such a disservice to the wonderful art of the team. A lot of the brighter images get to shine though, but for a series with a lot of dark costumes and locations, this should have been addressed. Another issue, one that isn't the fault of the team, is the large number of spreads that repeat the same character pose or background image, with variations in their design. Of course this is going to be the case, you wouldn't completely repaint and change up the composition when tweaking clothing or colours, but it does occur much more in this book than others, so worth noting. There are over 20 double page spreads that include a single pose or set design, and others with just a couple. Again, this is simply how the art was done, but those expecting lots of dynamic poses big variations in character designs won't find that here. Marvel Studios very rarely include early sketches, but if there were any, this would have been the time to show them off. The book needed a shake up, rather than placing the same pose multiple time on the same spread, they should have been spread out and mixed up. While this wouldn't made sense for the continuity of the pages, it would at the very least stopped the repetitive nature of the experience going through it. Mixing different poses side by side or even throwing in some location art between them would have broken the pages up better. Those excited to get lots of art for the coven will also be disappointed, as Lilia Dalderu and Jennifer Kale get just one spread and one pose each, with Alice Wu-Gulliver getting a single spread and a couple of poses, unfortunately affected with the dark print issues in her case. The focus for characters is very much on Agatha, Billy and Death, with some other pages for the Salem Seven too. Credits Marvel continue to do a fantastic job at crediting each artist on the page, as well as having their names in the back with a list of page numbers they are featured on. Short and sweet for this part of the review, always a strong point of their books. Use of Space The page design is also another thing that Marvel always does well, they make good use of all the pages available to them, leaving little wasted space. Although the art can be similar on each page, the layouts do change throughout and placement of text between the images is also well done. You never have to worry about wasted space or messy pages, they have done a good job since way back in 2008 with The Art of Iron Man . Value Like the last artbook in this format, pricing is a problem in my opinion from a value perspective, but there is also some good news. To start, I'll highlight that the RRP price on this book is $100/ £89.99, which is way too much. Like before, I cannot see a justification for a jump of $40 to include a slipcase and prints. Although the slipcase itself is very good, the prints are still of a low quality and you are essentially paying the price of some artbooks, with more pages than this one, to get a slipcase that this series went without for 21 previous releases. Of course, this is ignoring some of the issues mentioned in the previous content section too. I still believe they should have continued without the slipcases, or at the very least added more pages, as it's a lot to ask from people for what you get. But onto the good news, because it seems retailers may be aware of the issue because discounts are already available. Using Amazon for comparisons to stay consistent, on the day of release in the UK it is already 39% off from one third-part retailer, knocking it down to under £55. In the US, it can be found for just under $90. The UK price is much improved, while in the US it is lower, but still way too high overall. If you are interested in this book, it's worth looking around as you may find better prices. If I had to make a bold prediction, discounts will be coming, because despite being the biggest franchise in cinema history, Marvel's lack of promotion for these books and releasing them too late doesn't place them highly on Amazon lists. Others out there tops the charts months ahead of release, but again this isn't the case here, so retailers could want to shift copies. At the time of writing this on the day of release, in the US, which should be the biggest audience for the book, it ranks as follows; 20,431 in Books, 69 in Media Tie-In Graphic Novels, 92 in Marvel Comics & Graphic Novels and 249 in Superhero Comics & Graphic Novels. Not great for a Marvel Studios book, though others have been much worse. Verdict Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series is unfortunately not the book I had hoped for as a fan of the show. The quality of the art itself is fantastic and Marvel shine with their included insights yet again. Ultimately though, the poor print quality and repetitive pages fail to capture the magic of the show, made worse by the very high price point. This book then is hard to recommend, only suited for those that can't wait any longer for more Agatha and Billy before their next appearance in the MCU. • 'The Art of Rust' Has Been Delayed to December

June 5th 2025 The upcoming artbook based on the multiplayer game Rust has been delayed again, as spotted on the website of its publisher, Dark Horse Books. The Art of Rust will now leave fans waiting until the end of the year to see the art behind the hit game from Facepunch Studios. The 192-page hardcover book was originally slated for September 9th before being delayed a couple of times to October 21st 2025. Now though, the information on the publishers website has been updated again, showing it will be released on December 16th 2025. This update happened sometime yesterday and was spotted late last night, with online retailers yet to update their own listing information. You can find the new date on the Dark Horse website here . Cover art for The Art of Rust As with the previous delays, there was no post or public message about the change from the publisher, having only been noticed when checking their upcoming book list. The reasons for delays in the artbook world are rarely explained and hard to speculate on, as they happen frequently and there are large number of issues that can cause them. The push moves the release to the same month at the game's 12 year anniversary, having been released into early access on December 11th 2013. Artbooks often come out months or a few years after a game launch, but this is a significantly larger gap. While this would typically be a strange move, Rust has continued to maintain a high player count and has been updated frequently each year since its release. The game actually broke its record for active player count in 2025, with 262,284 sessions recorded for the survival FPS. The upcoming book is set to include a look at the concept art for the characters, costume designs, wildlife, weapons, vehicles, base props and environments of the game from Facepunch Studios. • The Art of Rust Delayed Again

April 16th 2025 Another release change has been spotted for the upcoming book, The Art of Rust . This comes just days after it had received a two week delay that pushed it further into September. Revealed on March 7th, the book for the popular game Rust was set to hit shelves on September 9th, but has now suffered a second setback. Like the last time this was noticed, as reported here , this was a change I spotted while checking listings on the Dark Horse website yesterday (April 15th). The new delay is unfortunately longer, moving the release date from September 23rd to October 21st. Cover art for The Art of Rust As is almost always the case, there was again no posting on social media about this change. Spotting delays to report here often come from checking release schedules, something I do fairly often. The reasons again are unknown and up for speculation, but having spoken to an author on artbooks and their delays, it is likely a scheduling issue due to the amount of collaboration involved. Information on the book and the new release date can be found on the the Dark Horse website , with some online retailers also having updated their listings already. Others though, including Amazon UK, are still showing the original release date, but it is not uncommon for details to take some time to be amended. Hopefully this is the last delay for the book and the artwork from the team at Facepunch Studios will make it into the collections of fans on October 21st. • 'The Art of Zootopia 2' is Coming Later This Year

June 3rd 2025 Disney continues its long run of animated movie artbooks with a look at the return of Zootopia later this year. Zootopia 2 is coming to the big screen in the US on November 26th, with the return of Judy and Nick headed to theatres elsewhere on the 28th. Following the success of the 2016 original that grossed over a billion dollars, there is no doubt the sequel will also be hugely popular. It's good news then that, although not unexpected, The Art of Zootopia 2 is also coming out later this year from Chronicle Books. The publisher has partnered with Disney for a long time on their artbooks, which includes entries from both Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar movies. This new book is set for release on October 28th in the US and most of Europe, with the UK expecting the book on November 6th. It comes as the usual hardcover and will feature 172 pages. The Art of Zootopia 2 book cover Like previous artbooks from the studio and publisher, fans can get a look at the early sketches and ideas for the characters and locations, as well as the storyboards, and colorscripts for the animated movie. There will also be insights included from the team behind the art and the movie itself throughout. What is noticeably unusual again with this book is that it will be on sale ahead of the movies release. This has frequently become the case for artbooks from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar, an unusual approach that exposes people to spoilers. Most recently, The Art of Elio was released in May, despite the movie not coming out until later this month. This also happened with The Art of Inside Out 2 and The Art of Moana 2 . This is the opposite approach Disney have taken with their Marvel Studios and Star Wars artbooks, with releases coming months or years later, though it is worth noting they are done with different publishers. Expect superb art from the team, a quality made book and pages completely filled with images and insights. The releases from Chronicle Books have always been very good and the art teams behind the movies are filled with incredibly talented people. To get a better idea of what to expect, check out my review of The Art of Elio . Zootopia 2 will once again focus on Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde in the animal filled city of Zootopia. It follows their undercover investigation into a new visitor of the city, an mysterious snake played by Ke Huy Quan. • Dark Horse Announce 'The Art of Fantastic Four'

May 29th 2025 Marvel and Dark Horse continue their Bullpen Books series with another entry coming later this year, this time shining the spotlight on Marvel's first family and a legend of the industry. The Art of Fantastic Four highlights the incredible work of artist Jack Kirby and will be presented in an oversized hardcover. Focusing on a decade long run between 1961 and 1971, this book will feature 200 pages of his art, including the complete stories from issues 60, 71, 82 and The Fantastic Four Annual 6. The book is set for release on September 23rd with an RRP of $59.99 and will be 10" x 14" in size. The Art of The Fantastic Four book cover The Bullpen Books series from Dark Horse focuses on both characters and creators at Marvel, with this being the second release, following The Art of The Amazing Spider-Man that was released last year. That book focused on John Romita's run of the comic series from 1966 to 1973. Dark Horse released another Jack Kirby focused artbook in February of this year, titled The Marvel Comics Covers of Jack Kirby Volume 1 . It featured his work over the years of 1961 to 1964 for his cover art, coming with 184 pages in an 8 3/8" x 12 3/4 hardcover book. This release will be perfect for those that love the art of Jack Kirby, as well as The Fantastic Four. It is timed perfectly for a new wave of fans that could be coming this year from Marvel Studios' new movie based on the heroes, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. 2025 is set to be a big year for Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm, with this book highlighting were it all started through the original artwork. Dark Horse have also been making artbooks for a long time, so expect another high quality hardcover book from the publisher. • Artbook News Roundup: May 2025

May 31st 2025 A new video has joined The Artbook Collector YouTube channel that highlights the news of May 2025! This may be the start of a new series that takes the news of the month and puts it into a short video, highlighting artbook updates, delays and announcements. It's easy to miss news, so this could be a good way to get a quick overview of what has been happening in the artbook world, with links to read the full articles. This is the first video and so a little rough around the edges, I'm in no way a video editor, but if received well, the roundups will continue and can only improve. This website is also run by just myself without any experience in writing, so doing something new is a stress I'm familiar with! The monthly roundups will of course miss out on news from the end of each month due to when I record, but they will be picked up in the next video. Give the video a watch and feel free to leave feedback. It's always good to hear from people that use my content as I want to create something that keeps people coming back. • Clover Press Reveal 'The Marvel Art of Tyler Kirkham'

June 1st 2025 Back with another entry in their ongoing Marvel artbook series, Clover Press have revealed that Tyler Kirkham will be the next artist to enter the spotlight and get 'The Marvel Art of' treatment. Like the previous releases, The Marvel Art of Tyler Kirkham will be making its way to Kickstarter and is set to include Kirkham's artwork for Spider-Man, Wolverine, Deadpool, and more. No specific date has been given for the campaign's launch, but fans can sign up to be notified for when it does go live here - Kickstarter page . This book follows 6 previous oversized hardcovers for 'The Marvel Art of' series, which focused on David Mack, Alex Maleev, David Nakayama, Russell Dauterman, Michael Turner and Michael Allred. Each of the Kickstarter campaigns were hugely successful, as they were all fully funded very quickly while hitting stretch goals too. This new book will no doubt join them in reaching its campaign goal and going on general sale. Clover Press also funded a campaign for their first DC Comics artbook, The DC Art of Jorge Jiménez , which highlights the demand from the publisher for these high quality books. The upcoming book will feature over 200 pages of highlights from Kirkham's career, who has worked on a lot of characters for Marvel Comics, including The Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man, Deadpool, Carnage and Venom. His fans will want to keep an eye on this one, as the artbook will offer a superb print quality to give his incredible art the best showcase possible. Although no details are available yet, if previous campaigns are anything to go by, expect tiers that offer alternative covers, a slipcase, prints and more. A copy of The Marvel Art of Alex Maleev is in my collection here and I was very impressed with the quality of the book. I would happily recommend the releases from Clover Press to people that want to add the artwork of their favourite artists to their own collection. When more is known about campaign when it goes live, it will be shared here. Tags; #TylerKirkham #MarvelComics #Marvel #CloverPress

  • Upcoming Artbooks: June 2025

May 31st 2025 As the month comes to an end, take a look ahead at June's selection of upcoming artbooks to keep an eye out for. The coming month is lighter on releases than it could have been due to multiple book delays, but these are some to look forward too! 3rd - Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series Following multiple delays of its own, Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of The Series is finally hitting shelves after its Disney+ debut last year. This is the second book in the series since the Infinity Saga ended to come with a slipcase and lithograph prints, as well as the first to use the new branding 'Marvel Television's' in the title. Fans can expect a look at the early art for the characters and settings in this look behind the curtain from the visual development team. The series featured a lot of costumes for the Agatha and her coven, likely making this a big focus of the book. Those wanting to grab a copy can order Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series below; 17th - Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie Titan Books continue the run of Marvel Studios' rereleases in The Infinity Saga series, this time focused on the debut of Doctor Strange from 2016. This book features over 300 pages of concept art, covering the characters, key frames, settings and trippy dimensions. There is a huge amount of art here and all of it offers interesting designs, as this was not only the introduction of Stephen Strange and every other character into the MCU, but also the world of magic. The original release was one of the stronger books from the studio, so having it made available again at a great price makes this well worth checking out. You can pre-order Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie before its June 17th release here; 24th - Metroid Prime 1–3: A Visual Retrospective: The Official Art and Making of Metroid Prime 1–3 Fans of the Metroid Prime series can pick up this collection of early sketches, concept art and illustrations for the games in the book from publisher Piggyback. It covers over 20 years of series across over 200 pages, with added insights from Nintendo producer, Kensuke Tanabe. Despite the title being disastrously long, there is a lot to look forward to here for fans old and new. A copy will also be joining the collection, so a review will be shared when it arrives on the 24th! You can order Metroid Prime 1–3: A Visual Retrospective: The Official Art and Making of Metroid Prime 1–3 here; 24th - The Art of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty After being released in Japan in 2023, The Art of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is finally making its way to the West after being translated to English. Udon Entertainment are the publishers of the English version, which isn't unexpected, as they are often behind the localised versions of Japanese video game artbooks. It comes as a hardcover with 200 pages of concept art for the characters, creatures, weapons and environments of the dark fantasy RPG from Team NINJA. It will also feature in-depth character profiles too, perfect for those looking for more than just the art. • Flip Through - The Art of DOOM

May 30th 2025 This week's preview on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel is a look back to 2016 with the return of DOOM! It's a good time to go back to The Art of DOOM from Dark Horse and id Software now that they have released the latest game in the series, DOOM: The Dark Ages. After a long break, the series returned with more demon killing action just like the 90's originals, but modernised not just the visuals, but the gameplay too. It was a huge hit and then spawned the even faster paced sequel, DOOM Eternal, before the prequel to both games was launched earlier this month. The Art of DOOM showcases the early concept art for its 2016 return, with a look at interesting enemy designs that were not used. It also includes a look at the locations, weapons, multiplayer characters, and the Doom Slayer himself. The book is harder to come by now, having sold through its print run, but those that find themselves a good copy online will be treated to a wealth of incredible art that will make you want to play the game again. The sequel also got an artbook from Dark Horse, titled The Art of DOOM Eternal , with the latest entry not yet having one announced. I had previously stated in my article, Artbook Predictions for 2025 Video Games , that 'The Art of DOOM: The Dark Ages' would be a safe bet. These days though, artbooks come out a long time after the game they are based on in most cases, so it could be a while before the book is revealed, if it is indeed coming. Check out a preview of The Art of DOOM above and subscribe to discover more artbooks to add to your own collection! Tags; #DOOM #DOOM2016 #idSoftware #Bethesda #DarkHorse

  • Final Cover Revealed for Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie

April 30th 2025 The Marvel Studios' artbooks are often listed for months with placeholder art, not getting their final cover until sometimes just a couple of months before release. One of their upcoming books, Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie , is the next book to unveil its official cover art. The art was created by Marvel Studios' veteran and Director of Visual Development, Andy Park, and was spotted on online retailer listings. The image depicts the Thunderbolts team, consisting of Yelena, Bucky, The Red Guardian, John Walker, Ghost and Taskmaster, all painted in Park's detailed and realistic style. This will no doubt be the cover for the slipcase only, with the wrap-around book cover inside having a different image. The book is set for release on August 26th and will come with a slipcase, lithograph prints and 224 pages of art and insights for the movie. It has an RRP of $100/ £89.99, which was an increase of $40 when the slipcase and prints were added, starting with Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine: The Art of the Movie last year. The book is also 'unique' in that it has yet to be delayed, its release date has always been August since it was revealed. I often report on delays for the Marvel Studios' artbooks here because it is a serious problem. Could it be release number 25 of the Multiverse Saga that ends the 24 book long delay streak? Expect the book to feature a dive into the costume design of the characters, including the early art for the debut of Bob and his alter egos. As seen in other books from the series, key scenes, settings and weapons will be showcased too. The artists at the studio have always created amazing concept art and the books are always well designed too, so fans of the movie should keep their eye out for this release later in the summer A copy will be joining the collection here, so previews and a review will be shared when it arrives. Those interested can order Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie here; Tags; #Marvel #MarvelStudios #Thunderbolts
