The Art of Marvel Rivals Announced by Dark Horse

Dark Horse continue to grow their catalogue of video game artbooks with a new addition for the hugely popular multiplayer hero shooter, Marvel Rivals.
Revealed today, The Art of Marvel Rivals is being released in partnership with Marvel Games and the game developer NetEase Games. The release date is set for September 2nd and it comes as a 208 page hardcover book.
The book will showcase the art for the many characters of the game, as well as its maps. Expect a look at designs for iconic heroes and villains, including Wolverine, Venom, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Storm and Iron Man. Maps in the game are located in places such as Yggsgard and Wakanda, which will allow a showcase of the variety of environment concepts from the artists.
The Art of Marvel Rivals comes with insights and commentary from the development team, giving further information on the redesigns and bold style that fans have enjoyed in Marvel Rivals.
Art Director Dina Ma said the following in a quote given to Dark Horse; "For Marvel Rivals we developed a distinctive artistic style and visual language that not only carries the vast and rich worldview of the Marvel Universe, but also conveys the hero's story through the visuals. We drew inspiration from various sources such as animation and graphic design, infusing our style with bold colors and rough brushstrokes. This book details the birth, evolution, and application of this “Dynamic Comic” style we developed, and I hope it will inspire others."
Marvel Rivals launched on December 6th 2024 and made waves very quickly. Despite other games struggling to break into the multiplayer space, Rivals captured people's interest and continues to hold a high player count. Though the Marvel brand did a lot of the heavy lifting, the retention highlights the quality of the game that has players coming back for more.
