- 'The Art of Avatar: Fire and Ash' Cover and New Release Date Revealed
February 20th 2026 The upcoming artbook for the third instalment of Avatar has had new updates, exciting fans that are looking forward to seeing the concept art behind the visual powerhouse. The Art of Avatar: Fire and Ash was revealed here in December following an early listing for the book, but this new update has replaced the placeholder cover with the official artwork, as well as changing the release date. You can see the new cover with art from Dylan Cole below. The upcoming hardcover from publisher DK is now coming July 21st 2026, moving it back in the month after the original listing gave it a July 2nd release. Dates often change in the artbook world as many readers and collectors will know, so this is not unexpected and may have also been an early placeholder. The 272 page count and description remains the same though, and it comes with an RRP of $50 or £35, both of which are very reasonable for a book of this size. Previews have also been shared online, which you can see below; These updates can also be taken as an official announcement, because when the book listing was reported in December, it wasn't available to view on most websites, with some only showing the book in search results using the ISBN number. To add to this, it has also now been shared on social media by the movie's production designer Dylan Cole. The official description is as follows; "Explore the magnificent behind-the-scenes artwork underpinning James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. Discover how crucial scenes were conceived and marvel at the incredible attention to detail that the Avatar artists brought to the development of new characters like Varang, leader of the fearsome Ash People, and aerial creatures like the medusoid and windray. Hundreds of spectacular images convey all the power, beauty, and intricate detail with which the Avatar film franchise has enthralled millions all over the world. Written in full collaboration with James Cameron’s production company Lightstorm, Art of Avatar: Fire and Ash provides a unique window into a visionary movie universe." Avatar: Fire and Ash has made over $1.4 billion at the box office, continuing the series' huge success. The visual effects and visual design are incredible, possible in no small part because of the talented artists working with James Cameron and Wētā Workshop. If the previous book, The Art of Avatar: The Way of Water, and the previews are anything to go by, this will be another excellent addition to the shelves of fans. Dylan Cole also released a s superb artbook last year, Creating Worlds: The Disney and 20th Century Studios Cinematic Art of Dylan Cole , which also includes artwork for the first Avatar and The Way of Water , among other movies. You can read a review of that book here - Book Review - Creating Worlds . Future updates on The Art of Avatar: Fire and Ash will be shared here and those interested can pre-order the book below. The re-released hardcover from Titan Books was published on February 3rd 2026 in the UK and February 10th in the US, delivering all of the content found in the 2018 original across its 296 pages. This is the 17th of 22 books in the series, reprinting the artbooks for Iron Man to Avengers: Endgame . The book contains concept art for the costumes, locations, key frames, vehicles, technology, and more for the movie, boasting a huge amount of images to enjoy. Black Panther was the introduction of Wakanda's secret world, full of both African culture and sci-fi technology, all of which is explored here with a lot of unused designs on display. Alongside this, the creators, actors, and artists provide insights into the movie and art, giving readers details on the ideas that helped build this corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can read my thoughts on the book in the review, one that also compares the new release to the original version, letting collectors know what the differences are. You can read that here - Book Review . Black Panther was directed by Ryan Coogler and follows T’Challa after his debut in Captain America: Civil War and the death of his father. Upon returning home, he is challenged by Erik Killmonger for the mantle of Black Panther and to determine the future of Wakanda. The movie was a critical hit and was praised for its world-building and performances, on top of introducing fans to the technology and culture of the fictional country. - 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day – The Art of the Movie' Revealed in New Listing
February 18th 2026 Marvel fans have another artbook to look forward to for the long running series from Marvel Studios, as a new listing has appeared online that will deliver a look at the artwork behind Peter Parker's upcoming adventure in Spider-Man: Brand New Day . Spider-Man: Brand New Day – The Art of the Movie is now on the site of Penguin Random House, with a live page available on Barnes and Noble , as well as on Amazon US via a ISBN number search. This comes with details on the book, including a release date of August 4th 2026, while also using the below placeholder image. There are three details of note, first the release date, then the price and page count, which I will break down here. August 4th 2026 is less than a week after the movie's July 31st premier, which would make this a very short gap between the two releases. While this may be the intention of the Marvel-published book, this would be odd, given that Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps - The Art of the Movie came over three months after the movie, but was still one of the shortest gaps in recent years, with others coming six months to two years after the project they are based on. They have been closing the gap with the movie artbooks, but this could indicate it is a placeholder date. It's always worth noting, as has been reported an endless amount of times on this site, Marvel miss their original dates, having delayed (or cancelled in a couple of cases) the last 27 books in a row, so take this new date with a big pinch of salt. Next is the pricing and the 224-page count, which indicates that this is not going to be a 'Deluxe Edition' as seen with First Steps , one that added a small booklet, but also 32 extra pages. Prior to this, all Multiverse Saga artbooks have been capped at 224 pages, as this one is, which is good news for fans as that increase came with a huge price tag of $150. The price for Spider-Man: Brand New Day – The Art of the Movie is just $50, which also signals that this won't have a slipcase either, which were added for the movie books starting with Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine: The Art of the Movie , which saw the price rise to $100. Fans may be split on this, as while some enjoyed the value the slipcase added, others saw this as a steep increase from $60 to include it with 5 prints. With this coming even under that price point, it could be that Marvel are reverting back to the older format again. The official description of the book is also included; "Marvel Studios is proud to present the latest volume in its acclaimed Art of the Movie series as Spider-Man swings back onto the silver screen! Four years have gone by since we last caught up with our friendly neighborhood hero. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man is at the top of his game keeping New York City safe. Things are going well for our anonymous hero until an unusual trail of crimes pulls him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced before. In order to take on what’s ahead, Spider-Man not only needs to be at the top of his physical and mental game, but he must also be prepared to face the repercussions of his past! As Spider-Man: Brand New Day wows moviegoers the world over, discover the behind-the-scenes magic of the film’s visual development—from early concept sketches to final character designs. Explore environments, costumes, and exclusive insights from the next chapter for Marvel’s neighborhood hero!" A preview of Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps - The Art of the Movie All of these details could change, as they often do in the artbook world, which includes this ongoing series for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Placeholders are very common and these are the earliest listings, with other sites not having it available yet at all. No doubt more updates are to come, but this is at least confirmation that the book is coming, as predicted in a list at the start of the year here - New Artbook Predictions for 2026 . From the perspective of someone that reviews and covers the series, releasing the books without the slipcases is a smart move, especially for one based on one of the most popular characters in the MCU in Spider-Man, because the pricing makes it much more accessible for fans. The prior price increases were too high from a value perspective and left many passing on them, or waiting for discounts. The release date is also hard to believe based on the last 27 releases, but it would be fantastic if they managed to hit it. Future changes to Spider-Man: Brand New Day – The Art of the Movie will be reported here, and those interested can read reviews for the series below, including the re-releases of the Infinity Saga books from Titan Books. - Book Review - Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History (Revised and Expanded Edition)
February 16th 2026 Great Scott, Back to the Future is over 40 years old! The trilogy of movies are iconic classics that have gone on to be adapted into other mediums, creating fans across multiple generations. To mark the milestone, a look back at the franchise is now available in an updated book, Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History (Revised and Expanded Edition) ! This re-release of the 2015 book from Insight Editions and Titan Books delivers the same content found in the original, with additional pages to include more on Back to the Future since its release. This makes the book the most comprehensive deep dive to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Marty and Doc’s adventures across time. Titan Books have kindly provided a copy, so I can share my thoughts on the new book that has a February 17th 2026 release date! Build Quality It comes as a 24cm x 28.5cm hardcover, with 272 pages of insights and imagery, making it a hefty book. The binding is strong and does an excellent job of providing enough flexibility to make the pages lay flat with ease as well. Also inside are some thoughtful physical extras that I will touch on shortly. The cover has an embossed and spot varnished logo and DeLorean, a nice touch that gives it a more premium feel. The production quality, including the print finish, is very good all round and won’t leave fans disappointed. Content There is a huge amount included across the book’s pages, giving fans a lot to read about the series, as well as images to enjoy too. This really is the definitive book for those that love Back to the Future because it shares so much, including the highs and lows and leaving no stone left unturned. It begins with background of creators Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, before getting into how the first film came to fruition. From inception, to being dropped and finding life again, casting, and more, the fascinating history of how Back to the Future started is shared in full and is an engaging read. Author Michael Klastorin does a wonderful job throughout, delivering a huge amount of detail between the interviews with the cast and crew. The book highlights the shoots of each movie by breaking them down into weeks, starting in November of 1984, which includes filming with Eric Stoltz before he was replaced by Michael J. Fox. Within this pages you learn about the challenges faced by the cast and crew, the locations, and even the business side of what was happening. It’s impossible to highlight here the full range of insights that you can read about, because it’s a truly impressive and detailed breakdown of the movies that fans will appreciate. As well as the trilogy, a large part of the book looks at the history of Back to the Future: The Ride , the animated series, the music, merch, and more, with the same level of care. The story of Marty and Doc expands beyond the screen and this book celebrates that as well, highlighting the impact the time-travelling adventures have had on pop culture. Of course, this is the ‘ Revised and Expanded Edition ’, so more has been added to mark the 40-year milestone. Added to the book are events and releases that have happened since 2015, including the documentary Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie being released, the musicals in the UK, Broadway, and Japan, and new merchandise like an updated Lego DeLorean. This new edition of Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History is perfect for fans new and old to get lost in four decades of cinema history. As the titles indicates, this is a visual guide, which means there are a lot of images inside to pore over as well. Most of this is made up of production photos, from days on set, to the cast of the stage productions. Pages are littered with these as you can see in the previews and will give film buffs a lot to enjoy. Alongside this is concept art too, with sketches of characters, the DeLorean, sets, and even the amusement park ride. Seeing early and unused designs is always a highlight of a book for me personally, so I was very happy to see so much included. The final and concept posters from artist Drew Struzan also stood out as a favourite part of the book. Other images cover casting call sheets, script pages, and storyboards, adding to the range of insights. Something that I also really liked was the physical extras that are found inside. These are items that have been placed within the pages to really cement the book as something special for fans. A lenticular photo of Marty McFly and his family, the envelope with “ Do not open until 1985 ”, a Biff dollar note, a movie poster, and other extras didn’t need to be included as there is so much here already, but they are a superb addition from the publishers. The below preview shows one of these inclusions. Credits Continuing the positivity of the review is the use of notes on every page for the images. Photos are given a description of what you are seeing and the person or studio responsible for the artwork is credited too. You can’t ask for much more than this and it’s always great to see it done in this way. Use of Space As you can see in the photos, the book is packed with images and text to read on every page. The designers have left no space wasted without overwhelming the reader either. The backgrounds are kept clean and this always works best in a book that has so much included, because it doesn’t become distracting or create a mess. The book is far from small with 272 pages, but I’m happy to see the team still got the most out of each page. Value This updated version of the book has an RRP of $74/ £54.99, putting it at the higher end of companion books. However, this is a large book and includes some physical extras as well, justifying the higher price tag. Taking into account this, the production quality and the sheer amount of content shared in its pages, fans won’t feel stung ordering at the full price. At the time of writing this just before its February 17th release, there are no discounts on Amazon, the site I check for my reviews. However, discounts frequently come and go and it’s always worth keeping an eye our for sales. If you can’t wait though and love Back to the Future, you will still find good value here. Verdict Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History (Revised and Expanded Edition) takes the already excellent book and updates it with yet more interesting details to mark the 40th anniversary of the DeLorean’s first trip into the past. From the conception of the first movie, to the animated show and modern collectibles, this is an outstanding volume of insights, photos and artwork that will take you on your own adventure through time. - PlayStation State of Play February 2026: Potential Artbooks
February 13th 2026 PlayStation treated gamers to over an hour of updates and new announcements for upcoming games yesterday (February 12th) and it was one of their strongest State of Plays yet. Now that some time has passed and wishlists have been updated, I wanted to take a look back over the titles shown and highlight some that may get the artbook treatment! Below is a list of all of the games in the showcase, with some highlighted with deeper speculation and thoughts. Kena: Scars of Kosmora The new game from Ember Labs is a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits , and like that game, looks beautiful. No artbook was released for the first game though, but with a partnership with Sony and a bigger game on the way, perhaps ' The Art of Kena ' is a possibility to see art for both releases. Ghost of Yōtei Mentioned in my New Artbook Predictions for 2026 article last month, this is very likely to get the artbook treatment given that PlayStation partnered with Dark Horse for The Art of Ghost of Tsushima . It's also worth noting that it included art for its 'Legends' mode, which was just revealed for Ghost of Yōtei , so the timing is now right. This is an artbook I'm very confident will get a reveal this year. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach - The game was shown to announce a PC port, but an artbook is already coming very soon, with The Art of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach releasing February 17th 2026! 4 Loop - While multiplayer titles do get artbooks, they are much less common. I wouldn't expect one for this new co-op shooter, but if it becomes a big hit, it's always possible. Pragmata - Capcom's upcoming third-person action game is looking very nice visually and a showcase of the concept art would be most welcome, but the developer can be hit and miss on releasing artbooks. Series like Street Fighter still get releases from Udon Entertainment, but others like Resident Evil have been skipped in recent years. ' Pragmata: Design Works ' is a possibility, but it may depend on the game's success. Resident Evil Requiem - As mentioned, this series has been without an artbook for some time. While books are released, they haven't been any dedicated to concept art since Resident Evil Revelations: Official Complete Works in 2015. If there hasn't been artbooks for the last two instalments, I have no reason to believe one is coming for this game either. Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered - Remasters of this nature are never cause for a look at the artwork behind them, so fans wont be expecting more than this updated game. Brigandine Abyss - Another game unlikely to receive an artbook, the last was for Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia , but that was only included in the Collector's Edition. Dead or Alive 6: Last Round - The classic series does have artwork printed in books, but there is no history of dedicated artbooks to indicate that one may be coming for its return. Control Resonant Developer Remedy Entertainment have released artbooks in the past, but it's not been the most collector friendly in its approach. The Art and Making of Control was published by Future Press, and while their books are of a high quality, their print runs are very limited, making this book expensive on second hand markets. The Alan Wake II Art Book was only included in a Collector's Edition from Limited Run Games, which was again not mass produced. The good news is that Alan Wake: Design Works is coming from Lost in Cult, so fans can grab some art for their previous games later this year. Although this is a hybrid book that dives deep into the development of the series alongside the art, it does highlight the studio's commitment to releasing books, so there is a good chance one will be made. Crimson Moon - Developer ProbablyMonsters is a small studio with no previous artbook releases, so it's highly unlikely that their new co-op action game will be receiving one either. Beast of Reincarnation - Game Freak is sitting on gold with the Pokémon series, yet they don't release artbooks. This could be down to Nintendo though, who are strangely lacking a library of concept art deep-dives for some of the biggest franchises in gaming. This is a completely new type of game though, so it's not impossible one will arrive. Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition - While on its own I would be confident ruling this one out, a book has actually already been revealed! Into the Glade of Dreams: The Art and Design of Rayman from publisher Cook and Becker is set to arrive later this year and looks back at the series as a whole. Mina The Hollower Yacht Club Games are finally making a return this year with Mina the Hollower to the joy of patient fans. It's far from the safest bet on the list, but an artbook was made for Shovel Knight , which was a fantastic look at the designs behind the characters and maps with a lot of early sketches. The book is getting a re-release in the form of Shovel Knight: Ultimate Design Works from Udon Entertainment in May, so keep an eye out for this potential release! Neva: Prologue - GRIS | Neva Art Book was included in a Collector's Edition from Devolver Digital for the games, but as a standalone artbook? Unfortunately it's unlikely. Yakoh Shinobi Ops - This interesting looking fantasy co-op game has some cool enemy designs, but a game of this size is unlikely to get an artbook. Project Windless Is this game likely to get an artbook? Based on Krafton's history, no. Is a game with a buff sword-wielding cockerel-like birdman in need of one? Absolutely! This upcoming open-world RPG was one of the highlights of the show, not just because of the protagonist either, but because the combat and visuals are very impressive. It's fast action and fantasy designs have left many excited to see the new game, one that is based on the Korean novels The Bird That Drinks Tears . It has drawn comparisons to Dynasty Warriors , but players of Heavenly Sword on PlayStation 3 will also feel at home too. Star Wars: Galactic Racer - This promising looking release is set to arrive sometime this year and has pulled in a lot of positive attention. An artbook for this game is not a sure thing, because although Star Wars has a very rich history and back catalogue of books filled with stunning artwork, not all of their games get them, and the racing genre isn't known to receive them either. I would certainly buy one if it was announced though! 007 First Light Developer IO Interactive are diving into the past of James Bond with a new story-driven action game. It certainly has elements of their flagship series Hitman, but it's adding set pieces to allow for bigger blockbuster moments. Standalone artbooks would be new for the studio, but if they were to start with any game, this would be it. ' The Art of 007 First Light ' is within the realm of possibility. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 - Art for the game have been published before, but no book was released for Vol. 1, so don't expect anything for this upcoming collection. Darwin's Paradox - As much as I would love to see the art behind the stealth-action sidescroller and its Octopus lead, it's highly unlikely to be printed in a book. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse - The long-awaited return of Castlevania comes by way of Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the teams behind Dead Cells . There is a chance of an artbook, as the series owner Konami has worked with book publishers in the past and The Heart of Dead Cells: A Visual Making-Of was released by Third Éditions. Silent Hill: Townfall - This is unlikely to get the artbook treatment, as sadly for fans of the series, previous entries also went without them. Rev. Noir - It's always hard to guess whether anime style games will get an artbook, but the market for them is huge, so if the game makes a big splash, it could happen. John Wick - Saber Interactive are bringing the visceral action to the hands of gamers in this upcoming release. The movies are so video game coded in places that one in this style was inevitable. An artbook though? I'm not so sure, the world has some interesting lore behind it, but visually it doesn't do anything too crazy. If it has big action set pieces like 007 First Light , then it's always possible, but if it stays more grounded, there less of a need for one. Marathon This is an interesting one, because the team at Bungie not only have a history of creating stunning concept art, but they like to release books to showcase that too, as seen with Halo and Destiny. I am expecting to see ' The Art of Marathon ', or a similarly titled book, but there have also been some controversial findings of art theft for this game too. The issue of the stolen art from Antireal has been resolved behind closed doors since their work was found in the game, but people have still not forgotten. Stories like this are known by hardcore gamers, but the more casual may be completely unaware enough that it wouldn't impact sales of an artbook. Marathon is also entering an unsteady landscape too, one that has seen multiplayer games fail, but Bungie have a better chance than most of creating a hit and justifying a look at the art behind it. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Games - There was nothing of note here to mention in terms of new artbooks, but one does already exist for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac. The Art of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a fantastic release from Dark Horse for those that want more from its world. Saros Also mentioned in my New Artbook Predictions for 2026 , Saros is a game that looks incredible and will likely get an artbook release. Not only are PlayStation Studios happy to partner with publishers for books, but The Art of Returnal from Housemarque and Dark Hose was released in 2024. It did take time to arrive, but ' The Art of Saros ' could always come quicker. Check out a preview of their last book below. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls - The upcoming fighting game will certainly be popular, in part because of the new takes on the designs of Marvel characters. An artbook is always likely with a Marvel game, as seen with The Art of Marvel Rivals , The Art of Marvel SNAP , Marvel's Midnight Suns - The Art of the Game , and many more. God of War Trilogy Remake & God of War: Sons of Sparta The State of Play ended with two new reveals for God of War, starting with the God of War Trilogy Remake . This is likely a long way off, it wouldn't be a shock if this was a PS6 game given that it's in early development. The chances of an artbook are up in the air though until we know more. If this is a new coat of paint, like we saw with The Last of Us Part I , then an artbook is not needed, especially as the Greek games had art shared in last year's release God of War: 20th Anniversary Retrospective from Dark Horse. This two-volume set also included the Norse games too, but still reduces the need to print artwork again for the games. You can see a review of that book below. If the remakes are total overhauls though, there's always a chance, but I think that it's unlikely they would change much because it would be too much work to be worth announcing yet. God of War: Sons of Sparta is a new Metroidvania that takes players back to the youth of Kratos and was released yesterday after a shadow drop. The scale of the game and its use of existing designs does lower the chances of an artbook significantly, so I'm not expecting another God of War title in the collection for this one, but it would always be most welcome. Perhaps it will be included for a 30th anniversary book! That's brings us to the end of the list and my speculations of books that could expand your collection. There was a lot to enjoy in the State of Play and I'm hoping it will being a lot of concept art to pore over as well. Until then though, check out the Upcoming page ! for books that have been announced and stick around for more news and reviews of artbooks! - Book Review - The Art of Hoppers
February 12th 2026 Pixar is back with its new critter-filled movie Hoppers , an animated movie about a young girl that enters the animal kingdom as a beaver, after transferring her mind using experimental technology. This set the stage for a wonderful collection of critters and characters, perfect for another entry in their artbook series! The Art of Hoppers was made in partnership with Chronicle Books and was released on February 10th 2026 (February 19th in the UK), a month before the movie premiered. With this in mind, my review of the book is spoiler free, but still gives an in-depth look at what to expect from the new release. Build Quality Collectors of the Pixar artbooks will know what to expect, as the series from Chronicle Books has been going for a long time and they keep it very consistent. This is not a bad thing, as the 29cm x 23.5cm hardcover book is well-made yet again. This entry comes with 176 pages made of high-quality gloss paper that is held together by strong binding, while also allowing the pages to open flat without bounce back. This makes it another fantastic job from the publisher. The book has a dustjacket with the cover art seen above, a fun piece created by Daniel Lopez Muñoz, with another image on the back with the book description. There’s not much to see under the dustjacket though, as the book cover is completely green with a debossed ‘Hopping’ loading bar, with the book title and on the spine. Content The artists at Pixar never disappoint and this is another example of that. The Art of Hoppers is full of superb art from front to back, giving readers a lot to enjoy. It covers all stages of development too, from early sketches, to full colour images and 3D renders. Among this are also animation concepts, storyboards, and a colorscript page that is found in each Pixar artbook. This gives a nice variety of artwork for fans to pore over. Variety doesn’t stop at the type of images included though, as there is also a nice mix of art styles as you can see in the previews for the characters, settings, and key moments. Although the majority of the art is created digitally, each artist has still added their own flare, with some looking like watercolour paintings, some having an almost Studio Ghibli style, and others looking much more modern and refined. It’s a joy to see all of this on the same page in many cases, highlighting that expression and design is what makes them work, not matching the final on-screen visuals. Animal lovers hoping to see a lot of adorable designs will not be let down with The Art of Hoppers ! Another highlight is the large number of early sketches that, while not focused on detail, express character and personality for the characters and animals of Hoppers . These sometimes come with artist notes or speech bubbles, adding to who the characters are. Many of these are done digitally, but there’s also a good amount of paper sketches included too, something I always like to see. Whether it be the early sketches, or the later designs, there is an incredible amount of charm in the artwork that helps make Pixar movies special. There are also some physical models used and shown here, like a miniature for a log dam, which is a nice touch. As well as this, photos are shared of the team doing research for the movie and allows you to see how the real world directly impacted their designs. Storyboards are shown throughout the pages, giving an insight into how the scenes look at their earliest stage, perfect to look at after the credits roll on the movie. A big highlight for me is a section at the end for unused concepts and ideas, from early ideas for the movie, to scenes that were cut from the script due to time. I love seeing the stuff that didn’t make it into the final movie like this, and so an entire chapter is great to see. A lot of unused designs for existing characters are found earlier on, but the end of the book has characters, places, and ideas that didn’t get used at all. These include a scene with penguins, places George was living, and an assassin poisonous frog, all of which fans will no doubt enjoy seeing. It’s something I want included in all releases from Pixar and Chronicle Books, as it adds a lot of interesting art. There isn’t a huge amount of reading to do in The Art of Hoppers , but what is included is engaging and adds some nice insights. Even in the introduction you learn that the movie was pitched as ‘Penguin Avatar’, with other notes highlighting trips the team went on. The majority of the text comes with the storyboards that speak on the scene being shown. This does make the book much more art focused overall, with most spreads having no paragraphs or notes to read at all. One thing that was very odd though, was that there are no titles or names given on the pages. Having not seen the movie as it isn’t out yet, it is strange to have pages of art dedicated to what are certainly key humans and animals, but not have their name included as seen is almost all other artbooks. I’m not sure why they would do this, as it feels wrong not knowing the names of the eclectic mix of characters. Credits Chronicle Books and Pixar have again done a very good job at crediting every image on the page. A nice short and sweet section of this review, as you can see who created each piece of art, along with the technique used as well. Use of Space Another welcome consistency from the series of artbooks is the page design, because there is no space wasted and the art is well organised. Layouts change from spread to spread to give the art the showcase it deserves, while double page spreads benefit from the binding that stops image loss in the centre fold. An excellent job from the team at the publisher yet again. Value This new release has an RRP of $50/ £40, which is standard pricing now in the artbook world. For the production quality and art found inside, Pixar fans should find this to be a fair price as there is a lot to enjoy and the book will last a long time if looked after. As always, and to stay consistent in my reviews, I checked prices on Amazon and found that the book has already been reduced on the week of its release. In the US is it $39.30, with the UK having it at £31.09, both of which being very good value for money. Prices on artbooks fluctuate a lot, but it does highlight that people that shop around can get a nice deal on this book. Verdict The Art of Hoppers is a wonderful showcase of the artwork that helped create the mind-hopping world of their latest movie, delivering a huge amount of artwork in a variety of styles that all capture the magic of Pixar. I really enjoyed my time with this book and can’t wait to revisit it after leaving the cinema. Collectors of the series and those that want more from Hoppers cannot go wrong in adding this volume of fantastic art to their shelf! - Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag 'Remaster' Artbook Listed Online
February 11th 2026 *Update 11/02/2026 Since posting the story, conflicting details have been found on new listings, confirming placeholders are in place for the new book. Australian website Booktopia has a listing with a release date of July 28th 2026, conflicting with other retailers, lining up with reports the upcoming game has been delayed to fiscal year 2026/ 2027. Find that listing here . A new listing has also appeared on Blackwell's under ' The Art of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced ', matching the rumoured title for the game. Despite having different information, both are further confirmation that an artbook is indeed coming. Original story below. An early placeholder listing has been spotted today for an artbook based on the remaster (or remake) of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag , one that could hint at a release date for the unofficially announced game. The Art of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was published by Titan Books in 2013, which covered the concept art for the original release from Ubisoft. Now though, it seems that there is an updated version coming for the long rumoured remaster for the game based on a listing on Amazon UK . The cover of 2013's The Art of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag The Amazon listing seen below has a release date of March 24th 2026, which is less than 6 weeks away and maybe a hint at when the updated game is arriving. However, although it may be shadow dropped or given a very short wait time if revealed, there is also the chance that the date is simply a placeholder, and there are signs that indicate this. The first are that there is no cover art, no description, and the publisher is noted as 'TITAN', not 'Titan Books'. It wouldn't be the first time that a book is listed early with details that are later updated, so although it is entirely possible that the book and game could be coming very soon, it's not a guarantee. It's also worth noting that while Titan Books was the long time publisher of the Assassin's Creed artbooks, from Assassin' Creed III to Odyssey , Dark Horse took over for the last few books. These were for The Art of Assassin's Creed Valhalla , The Art of Assassin's Creed Mirage , and last year's The Art of Assassin's Creed Shadows . It could be that Titan are back in partnership with the developer for this title, but that could also depend on what the game actually is; a remaster, or a remake? This is also the last indication that the release and details are not final as the title ' Art/Assassins Creed Black Flag Remaster ' is certainly going to change. Previous reporting has indicated that the game is a remake, not a remaster, which would mean that this book will feature new artwork and therefore opens the door for Dark Horse to be the publisher of original material. Titan Books could still release a book for a remake though, but if the new version of Black Flag is indeed a remaster, there's also a chance it may be a reprint of the 2013 book. It's all up for speculation, but it is at least more confirmation that Ubisoft are working on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag title, one that is a fan favourite in the series. The original release of The Art of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was filled with incredible artwork from the studio, which you can preview in the video below. Officially announced artbooks have listings that are changed and updated for games that have already been released, so while it is fun to speculate, we shouldn't jump the gun based on a page that is clearly filled with early placeholder information. Future updates on the book will be shared here and when an artbook does arrive, be sure to check in for a review! Tags; #AssassinsCreedIVBlackFlag #AssassinsCreed #TitanBooks #Ubisoft

February 11th 2026 After being introduced in Archie Comics more than 80 years ago, Betty and Veronica are continuing their time in the limelight with a reprint of the 2012 artbook, The Art of Betty & Veronica . It comes with the same content as the Archie Comics published original, featuring 160 pages in the same hardcover format. - Book Review - Ultros: Design Works
February 10th 2026 Lost in Cult are beginning their 2026 Design Works releases with a look at Ultros , the ‘Gardenvania’ from developer Hadoque. The game captured attention with its bold psychedelic visuals, but hooked players with a blend of time loops, strange characters, exploration, unique resource mechanics, a cosmic soundscape, and seed planting. This makes the game perfect for a book that explores all of this and more, so it’s a good thing that Ultros: Design Works is now here! A copy of the book has now joined the collection in the form of the limited Deluxe Edition, so I can jump in with my thoughts. I will review the book itself as I usually do, with an added section at the end for the Deluxe Edition extras. Build Quality The copy I have is a hardcover that comes in a slipcase at 20.5cm x 28.5cm, both of which feel strong and well-made. The paper and binding are high-quality too, also delivering an excellent print finish throughout that makes the colours really pop across its 252 pages. It’s a great job all round on this front from Lost in Cult. The Standard Edition is a softcover, which comes in at 20cm x 28cm, and although I don’t have that to review, their previous softcovers have been very impressive. You can read more on this in my review of Outer Wilds: Design Works here . Content The Design Works series are hybrid books, as opposed to dedicated artbooks, but there is a huge amount of artwork included in this release alongside the development details of the game, so I was not let down as someone that wanted to see this side of the game. It strikes a very nice balance of interviews and details with the illustrations, concept art, and screenshots of the vibrant game. Speaking on the development details first, it’s safe to say fans will enjoy the amount shared in Ultros: Design Works . Author John Rogers has done a fantastic job at not only writing the book, but getting insightful interviews with the Hadoque team as well. These are done with Art and Creative Director Niklas Åkerblad, Game Design Director Mårten Brüggemann, game designer Hugo Bille, audio designer Oscar ‘Ratvader’ Rydelius, and narrative designer Pelle Cahndlerby, each giving their perspective on working on Ultros and together painting the picture of what it took to create the game. The book is broken down into chapters that focus on different aspects of Ultros , beginning with a history of its development, from conception and growing the team, to getting the funding and its release. From there, it focuses on the people mentioned above and their departments, offering a fascinating look into the creation of its visuals and how they were made, composing the soundscapes, developing the gameplay and mechanics, and building the lore and story of the characters and the Sarcophagus, the ship that serves as the setting. You also find out more about the past of each person interviewed too, making this an exploration of more than the game, but also the minds behind the world of seeds and the Demon. Ultros: Design Works is rich with information and was a joy to read through as a fan of the game, leaving me wanting to jump back in all over again to reunite Ouji with Gardner, as well as seeing my plants grow. Finding out about the switch from pixel art to HD, how it started as a Roguelike, the early idea to have you bring offspring with you for your next life, Ratvader’s trip to record sounds in Peru, and much more, made this an engaging read. The game was a meeting of very creative minds that is explored wonderfully in the book. Artwork, animation frames, and screenshots are littered throughout, with many spreads dedicated to nothing but images. Ultros stands out for being almost overwhelming in colour, something that doesn’t change with the art behind it. I love the style created by Niklas Åkerblad, one that you cannot label, because it feels simultaneously classical, retro, and modern, with biomechanical designs that have a touch of H.R. Giger to them, but also infused with psychedelic colours. It’s a fun blend that creates pieces that jump off the page, making this feel very much like an extension of the game itself. There are also sketches and concepts shared inside too, including pages and pages of designs for the characters, environments, enemies, weapons, assets, and plants, as you can see in the previews. While not full of colour, they still maintain the distinct visual style of Ultros , showing how the visual design was developed. I love seeing artwork like this and appreciate that the team at Lost in Cult created sections of green and pink pages to focus on these early concepts and notes, parts that will no doubt be a highlight for many readers. I enjoyed reading through Ultros: Design Works a lot and believe fellow players of the game will too. There is a huge amount I could talk about, which is what is great about the Design Works series, but that would risk this review becoming a book in itself, a testament to how much you can learn and get out of your time with this release. Credits Although Niklas Åkerblad is the Art Director and no doubt responsible for a lot of the art seen here, he wasn’t the only artist that work on Ultros . The book doesn’t have credits for the art unfortunately, and it’s not entirely clear that everything was created by Åkerblad. Use of Space Lost in Cult keep the positives going with their page design, as the layouts and use of space are very good throughout. The art gets room to breathe and, while there is a lot to read, they don’t flood spreads with a mass of text. Every spread has at least one image on it for balance, with small gaps strategically places to prevent there being an overwhelming amount of text hitting you at once. It creates a nice flow that allows the imagery and colour to keep you lost in the visuals of Ultros and it works extremely well. There are many ways this book could have presented its contents to you, but this feels very thoughtful. The sections of early artwork on coloured pages as mentioned before is also a great touch. Value The book was sold directly through Lost in Cult’s website for £49.99 (£129.99 for the Deluxe Edition) which does place it on the higher end if comparing it to an artbook. However, this is a well-executed hybrid book from a small publisher, so it feels like a very fair price that delivers something that feels like a passion project. I think those that bought a copy will find great value in the pricing, as the production quality and care put into this is felt from cover to cover. Deluxe Edition Although this is no longer available to buy as these editions are sold for a limited time period, it’s worth highlighting the quality found here for those that are interested in future Design Works books. A large number of extras were included; a CD with the soundscapes and a podcast, an A2 poster, art cards with screenshots, stickers, a booklet with poems from Pelle Cahndlerby, an Ultros Origins booklet, and a scratch art card, all gathered in a presentation box. The book itself was upgraded to a hardcover with a slipcase, which is a big selling point for many, including myself. The quality of it all is as good as the book itself too, with the art prints being standouts for me personally, each of which I would love to get framed. If you’re a fan of the games the Design Works series are based on and don’t mind spending some extra money, these are certainly worth adding to your collection. The book makes for the perfect read after the credits roll, with this Deluxe Edition adding goodies that can give you daily reminders of your favourite title. I always appreciate good packaging as well and this came well protected, so those outside of the UK will get their order safe and sound! Verdict Ultros: Design Works is a superb book that gives players a look at what it took to make the ‘Gardenvania’, delivering engaging details and interviews into its history and creation, as well as spectacular artwork that you will want to revisit time and time again. The book design makes it a joy to read through and the production quality highlights Lost in Cult’s commitment to doing right by collectors of physical media. After you encountered the demon and have tended to the garden, reading this book is a great way to extend your time with Ultros . You can find more Design Works books, as well as other products, including physical games and vinyl on Lost in Cult’s website. Be sure to keep an eye out for more announcements from their team, as they always have more book coming. Visit their website here . You can also read my interview from last year with narrative designer Pelle Cahndlerby for more on his role on the game - Interview . - 'The Infinity Saga - Avengers: Infinity War - The Art of the Movie' Coming November 2026
February 10th 2026 Titan Books is in the final stretch of The Infinity Saga series, their collection of reprints for the older Marvel Studios artbooks. The 19th entry of 22 books has now been listed online, this time focused on the concept art behind the blockbuster epic, Avengers: Infinity War . Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Avengers: Infinity War - The Art of the Movie takes fans through the incredible concept art that was the start of the end for Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as the Infinity Saga as a whole. The 336-page hardcover book was spotted on the website of the publisher and has a release date of November 3rd 2026. The cover art depicting Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet can be seen below. Like previous books in the series, this is a resized version of the original from Marvel themselves, which in this case was released in 2018. It contains all of the original content, so those worried that it will be missing artwork need not worry, as everything remains the same, from the images to the text. The original book can be expensive on second hand markets too, making this the perfect way for fans that missed out before to add this to their collection. Inside is a collection of concept art for the characters, locations, keyframes, technology, and more of the movie, including unused designs that makes for an interesting peak behind the curtain. From the return of the Avengers team, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange, to the introduction of the Black Order, the artwork will give readers a lot to pore over. It doesn't stop there though, as a huge amount of art covers the key moments and locations of Infinity War , including the planet Titan and the battlefield of Wakanda. The original is filled to the brim with stunning artwork that will be faithfully reprinted in this new version. Details are also shared through interviews with the creatives and artists themselves, adding more value to this upcoming book. To get an idea of what to expect, check out a preview of a previous release, The Infinity Saga - Spider-Man: Homecoming - The Art of the Movie below Retailer listings for the book have not yet appeared online, but as the book was only added to the Titan Books website late yesterday, expect the book to be available to pre-order soon. It comes with an RRP of $50/ £35, a very reasonable price for the amount of art found here. This leaves just a few more books left to be listed in The Infinity Saga series, which will no doubt go into 2027 based on there being just three releases this year. Up next will be artbooks for Captain Marvel , Spider-Man: Far From Home , and finally, Avengers: Endgame . The series comes highly recommended for MCU fans, as not only do reprints make some of the books accessible after selling out, but they make quality improvements too. Although smaller in size and without a slipcase like before, the paper and binding are higher in quality, reducing image loss in the centre fold and correcting the overly dark print finish in places as well. You can read reviews of the some of the releases for more details, as well as comparisons to the original books here; Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga – Black Panther: The Art of the Movie Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga – Thor: Ragnarok – The Art of the Movie Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga – Spider-Man: Homecoming – The Art of the Movie Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: The Art of the Movie Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga – Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie Marvel themselves are still releasing artbooks for their most recent projects, including Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps - The Art of the Movie , Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie , and Marvel Studios' Loki: Season Two - The Art of The Series . However there are currently no more announced, but Daredevil: Born Again and Spider-Man: Brand New Day are expected to be announced this year. Updates for both the series and Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Avengers: Infinity War - The Art of the Movie will be reported here, as well as a review for the book when it arrives November 3rd 2026. - 'Call of Duty Zombies: The Art of Treyarch' Delayed to August
February 9thth 2026 Call of Duty is getting its first standalone artbook this year after the first game's release over 20 years ago, focusing on the hugely popular Zombies mode. However, fans will have to wait a little longer, as Call of Duty Zombies: The Art of Treyarch has been hit by a delay that pushes further back in the summer. The book is coming by way of Insight Editions and Titan Books, and was revealed in October 2025 with a June 16th publication date. Sadly, that has now changed, as retailer listings and the Titan Books website have now updated its release to August 11th 2026. The reason is unknown, as is normal for the artbook world, with both publishers silent about the delay as is also the norm. Those that collect artbooks will know very well that delays are common, affecting most titles, and that announcements are done with a bang in contrast to the silence of subsequent set backs. After 20 years of only having published artwork for the series in books found in collector's editions of the games, a couple of extra months to wait is very unlikely to deter fans from picking this up. The other details have not changed though, because it is still listed as a 256-page hardcover with an RRP of $50/ £40. It will feature the artwork of the Zombies mode from Treyarch, the developers behind the Black Ops game the mode is featured with, as well as insights from the team too. Zombies has grown and expanded since its debut in 2008, going from defending a decrepit house, to large maps and its own story, after multiple Call of Duty releases. It became quickly popular with players that enjoyed the intense chaos that it brought while playing with friends, offering an alternative gameplay experience to the rest of the series' multiplayer modes. February 6th 2026 On the The Artbook Collector YouTube channel this week is a preview of the The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte , the latest artbook from publisher Abrams Books! After 4 years without an artbook, the live-action Star Wars projects are showcasing their concept art again, starting with this release on February 3d 2026. Fans of The Acolyte may not get to enjoy another season, but a look at the concepts and design for the show can now be added to their shelves. Alongside this are interviews with the show runners, actors, and artists to add more insights behind the High Republic's live-action debut. The review of the book was very positive, because it not only delivered exceptional art as expected for for a Star Wars release, but the book is well-made, the page design uses the full space of the page, the interviews offer a lot of details, and the artists and credited on every page. It does everything very well, so those that are interested in the book will find a lot to enjoy. You can the full review here - Book Review . - Book Review - The Infinity Saga – Black Panther: The Art of the Movie
February 6th 2026 Black Panther made his solo movie debut in 2018 and introduced viewers to the hidden world of Wakanda within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Shortly after its release, Marvel released an artbook for the movie, but after 8 years it has become expensive to buy. Fortunately, it has now received a re-release from publisher Titan Books as part of The Infinity Saga series! Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga – Black Panther: The Art of the Movie hit shelves on February 3rd 2026 in the UK and arrives March 10th in the US, allowing those interested in the concept art behind the movie to add the book to their collection. Titan Books have kindly sent me a review copy, and as someone that owns and thinks highly of the original, I can also compare the releases as well. Content The book comes with 296 pages of artwork and insights for Black Panther, containing the same content found in the 2018 original. It features hundreds of concept pieces and highlights how much work goes into making the movies, shining the light on the extraordinary talent of the visual development team. There is so much here that fans could revisit the book an endless number of times and never get tired of seeing what’s inside. Marvel Studios have always had some of the best artists working for them and this movie was perfect for putting their creativity on display. Black Panther may be set on earth, but because it introduces the advanced civilization and setting of Wakanda, there is a lot of world building developed through the art. From the technology driven city and science labs, to the landscapes and the deep culture of its people, there is so much this book shares that it makes it stand out in the series of artbooks in this regard. Alongside the incredible world building are a look at the characters too. A highlight of course is for the Black Panther suit, which has 12 spreads of designs to bring the iconic character from page to screen with a range of colours, patterns, and details. It’s always fun to see the ideas that didn’t get used and this book shares a huge number of them. Suit and costume designs for Killmonger, Okoye, Shuri, and more, also get explored with detailed designs that bring the characters to life. The book is very generous with how much is shared and part of the reason Marvel artbooks are so attractive to fans. Keyframes are included as they are in all of the Marvel books, wonderfully displaying dynamic artwork for moments of the movie, such as the final battle and the car chase scene, making them again a personal highlight for me in the book. There so many other incredible concepts and designs that it is hard to talk about highlights, because there is a new one to find on each page. There’s something here for everyone; suits, Klaue’s arm designs, Wakanda’s concepts, keyframes, costumes rich in African culture, and so much more. This is a superb collection of art that you can get lost in for a long time. Text throughout adds even more to get into, going beyond just describing what you’re seeing and giving detailed insights into the designs and the making of the movie itself. The text is a little smaller than seen in other books, but that’s because there is so much shared in the interviews, they had to make room. These are done with the creators and artists, including Director Ryan Coogler, President Kevin Feige, and the artists themselves such as Jackson Sze, Tully Summers, Karla Ortiz, and more. Each have a lot to share about creating Black Panther , including the approach to the visuals, the character details, and influences. It’s also great to hear from the actors, with Chadwick Boseman, Winston Duke, Daniel Kaluuya, and others, lending their thoughts on the movie and characters, taking this beyond just an art focused book. This is something that the Marvel series of artbooks has always been very good at, with this being a strong release in the line-up. Credits Business as usual for Marvel with this entry in the series, as the artists are credited on each page with their surname, so you can see exactly who did what throughout. On top of this, there is a page in the back of the book with the names of the artists in full, each with a list of the page numbers they are featured on. This approach has always been appreciated and the studio has been great at giving full recognition to their artists. Build Quality Onto the comparison to the 2018 original now, simply titled Marvel’s Black Panther: The Art of the Movie . Both come as a hardcover, with the new Titan Book’s version using a dustjacket, as opposed to a slipcase. While people do like the slipcases from Marvel as they are thick and protective, it does increase the price significantly. Keeping the price down with a dustjacket is a move that I like, as it makes the books accessible to more people. The Infinity Saga books are smaller at 24cm x 27cm in size, but it’s still not far off the 24.5cm x 29.5cm size of the originals without the slipcase. What is significant though, is that the new book is just as thick as the original while inside the slipcase. This is due to the thicker pages that add an improved level of quality to the new edition. It’s a welcome upgrade that puts the paper used on par with most other artbook releases, as opposed to the thinner paper Marvel use. Below compares the size of the original slipcase to the new book, then the 2018 books itself to Titan Books' latest release. The paper used does mean the binding had to change as well, but this is also a step up over the original because it uses more page signatures (groups of pages), that allows the spreads to open with ease. A book that is close to 300 pages can suffer dramatically with image loss in the centre fold, but because of the binding that has been minimised, especially in the centre of the book that display double page spreads wonderfully. Only small adjustments have been made to keep the original content and design in the new resize, but the team at Titan Books have done an excellent job with this. The print quality is also fantastic, but most notably for the darker pictures, in which the lighter print of The Infinity Saga version allows readers to see more details. This is perfect for Black Panther , as many of the concept pieces unsurprisingly have darker tones. Below is a comparison photo, with The Infinity Saga book at the top and the Marvel original below, highlighting the change in the print finish and small sizing adjustments. Use of Space The pages are kept very simple in their design, aiming to make as much use of the space as possible for artwork and it’s wonderfully executed. There’s nothing fancy here, plain backgrounds with the occasional colour change to keep the art the main focus. I often like this approach for books that fill the pages as much as this, as it reduces distractions while only leaving gaps for the text. When you’re sitting on gold, you don’t need to decorate it with glitter, so this restraint works very well. Value Like other recent releases in the series, The Infinity Saga – Black Panther: The Art of the Movie has an RRP of $50/ £35, a solid starting price point. The original release can still be bought online, but can go into triple digits for a copy that is new or in good condition, making this a great option for buyers. For the quality of the book and the artwork inside, a look behind the scenes at this price is very fair. Comparing using Amazon, it is 21% off on the week of release in the UK, giving it even better value at under £30. Just before release in the US there is currently no discount, but these will come and go as they often do, but the full price is still more than worth what you get here. Verdict Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga – Black Panther: The Art of the Movie is another exceptional collection of artwork and an engaging joy to sit with. Titan Books have again delivered a high-quality re-release of an older artbook, adding improvements to an already highly recommended release. If you’re a fan of Black Panther , this more than deserves a spot on your shelf, especially now with a newly released and easily accessible edition. What was a stronger entry in the original series is now the same in The Infinity Saga series! - 'The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte' Coming February After Delay
December 29th 2025 Suffering from a third delay, The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte has been moved out of January by publisher Abrams Books, as spotted on the listings of retailers. The hardcover book was announced at SDCC 2024 for release in July 2025, but was later given a new release date of October at another event. However, it was silently pushed back again to January 13th 2026. As is not uncommon in the artbook world, another set back has hit the release and only noticed when checking listings of the book online. It is now expected to arrive on February 3rd 2026, fortunately a shorter delay than those that came before. Waiting an extra month isn't that long in the grand scheme of things, given that the last artbook for a Star Wars live-action project was The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian (Season Two) , which was published in February of 2022. This new book will be the first artbook in 4 years, a gap that has never been explained, but is slowly being filled by future releases. The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte will allow fans to see the concept art behind the show that was set during the High Republic time period. It will highlight the designs for the characters, ships, locations, and more, alongside insights from the creators. The Star Wars artbooks have always been excellent, so their return will be welcomed with open arms by fans and collectors. It's not alone though, as two more books are also coming for fans. First is The Art of Star Wars: Andor , which covers both seasons of the show and is expected to arrive next year. Second is The Art of the Mandalorian and Grogu that delivers a look at the new movie, season three of their TV series, and also The Book of Bobba Fett . Future updates for The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte will be shared on this website and those interested can pre-order the book here for when it arrives on February 3rd; Buy Here / Buy Here (UK) Tags; #TheAcolyte #StarWars #AbramsBooks #Lucasfilm #Disney

- 'The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte' Previews: The Stranger, Mae the Sith, and More!
January 28th 2025 Over a year after the show premiered, The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte is out next week with a release date of February 3rd 2026. After some date changes for the release, Abrams Books is ready to return with another artbook for a live-action Star Wars project, with a look at the concept art behind The Acolyte , but before then, check out some previews of the book here! Before diving inside of the book, any collector knows that when a book comes with a dustjacket as this one does, you should always take a peak under the cover to see what is hidden underneath. In the case of The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte , there is a wrap-around concept image of Osha and Mae facing off from artist Gabriel Yeganyan. Sticking with Mae, the book explores her look as a Sith, leaning into a medieval visual style for the costume design. Artists Brian Matyas explains this as quoted on the page; "To keep the idea that this period is 'medieval Star Wars', I wanted the costuming to be influenced by plate armor but made with a material like plastoid." The below spread features art from Matyas and Star Wars royalty, Doug Chiang. Jecki Lon, played by Dafne Keen, is also highlighted in the book, with a piece of her in human form, but also with sketches of her potential design as a half-Theelin too, a homage to backup singer Rystáll Sant who was added to the Special Edition of Return of the Jedi . Artist Jeremy Woodhead adds his insights to these sketches, giving the following details; "For Jecki, there were two or three boards with with ten or fifteen drawings on each with different ideas. We always had the horns, and we always had the pale skin, then we experimented with different colors and hairstyles. A lot of references we made at the time [of the Special Editions] were very eighties, so I wanted to steer away from that. It looked a bit too decade-specific. That's why I went for the oranges and the yellows, rather than the pinks and purples. The was something a little bit jarring about the neon pink." Art below by Eleanor Barlow, Callum Alexander Watt, Jeremy Woodhead, Adam Burn, and Jacob Clare. Of course, the book wouldn't be complete without a look at the antagonist, 'The Stranger'. Artwork for his menacing helmet had been shared online before, including the striking piece below on the left from Martin Rezard. However, this book presents the art in a high quality print finish on the page, which is a great size with the book coming in at 30cm x 27.5cm, as well as the artist credits and insights. Show creator Leslye Headland notes that some of the designs were inspired by Rorschach from Watchmen , highlighting that his look could have been very different to what made it on-screen. Page art below by Martin Rezard, Andre Gilbert, Luke Fisher, and Nick Tyrrell. Darth Plagueis is also shown in The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte , although very little is shared in keeping with the teaser at the end of the series. However, it does include a 3D model of his head made by Saby Menyhei, which offers a more detailed look at his design. Leslye Headland shares that before the design was even created, she knew she wanted a reveal similar to Gollum in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring , one that was hugely effective. The concept of his reveal on the right, also from Menyhei, closely resembles the final shot without the hood. The spread also offers a look at the broken helmet of The Stranger from artist Nick Tyrrell, revealing the face of the character played by Manny Jacinto. There is of course much more featured in the book, including a look at more characters, ships, locations, keyframes, technology, and storyboards. Star Wars has a long history with artbooks that have consistently been excellent releases, making this a book to consider adding to your shelf if you're a fan of The Acolyte . A review for the book is coming soon with more previews, as well as my in-depth thoughts for fans wanting to know more. There are also more Star Wars artbooks coming in 2026 too, with The Art of Star Wars: Andor out on June 30th, and The Art of the Mandalorian and Grogu being published November 3rd, which features art for season three of the TV series and The Book of Bobba Fett . To end, I would kindly ask that anyone that chooses to share the images and details here please credit this as a news source to help people discover this solo run website and discover more artbooks. - Book Review - The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte
January 29th 2026 After almost 4 years without an artbook for a live-action Star War project, Abrams Books are back to give fans a new entry for their collection with The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte . Based on the series from Leslye Headland, the book features the art behind the High Republic story and offers those wanting more from its world a chance to get lost in it all over again. With a publication date of February 3 rd 2026, the anticipated return of the artbook series had a lot to live up to following the excellence of previous releases. With a copy now in the collection, I can now give my thoughts on the book, while highlighting what you can expect inside. Build Quality Matching the previous tie-in artbooks from Abrams, this comes as a 30cm x 27.5cm hardcover with a dustjacket. The book is well-made as expected, the cover is solid and the binding feels secure for the thick paper it uses. It’s everything you could want from an artbook and so collectors will be happy with the quality found here. The cover seen above is on the dustjacket and comes with a concept piece on the back. Underneath is a wrap-around concept from Gabriel Yeganyan seen below, a reminder to always check under a dustjacket for more great artwork. Content The book fits a lot in to its 224 pages, something the series has always been excellent at. Featured are early and more developed pieces for the characters, ships, weapons, locations, keyframes, and more. A huge amount for The Acolyte is covered and that’s great news for fans interested in seeing what didn’t make it to the screen. You won’t be surprised to know that the artwork inside is incredible throughout. Some of the best artists in the industry work on Star Wars and this book does an excellent job at collecting pieces that showcase their talent. From the lighter tones of the Jedi robes and more sinister look of the Sith costumes, to the streets of Olega and keyframes of The Stranger fight in the forest, the range and details the team showcase are stunning and will be appreciated by anyone that pores over them. Highlights for me included a storyboard spread seen below of Sol reuniting with Osha, an aspect of a show’s creation that isn’t always highlighted, but its presence here is most welcome with its comic-like art style that expresses emotions wonderfully. Shown in my early preview article , the costume design work is also a standout, with Mae in Sith clothing and The Stranger’s helmet being standouts. The Sith armour is heavily influenced by medieval designs and gets the spotlight here, an example of what makes these books worth seeing, as what didn’t make it to the screen is just as good as what did. The menacing helmet designs of The Stranger will also draw attention as well, providing a horror aspect to the art inside. It’s easy to go on and on about favourite parts of this book, as there are so many, including the fun art for the beaver-like Tynnans, and a lot of varied alien, ship, and location concepts that make Star Wars special. The Art of Star War: The Acolyte packs in a lot of spectacular artwork that will leave no fan disappointed. As well as this, there are a huge number of insights featured through interviews, impressive given how much art is inside. Using text that is smaller than seen in some other books, they did a very good job at sharing a lot of details about the making of the show, as well as notes from artists about their work. Each chapter starts with text that gets deeper into the production, with a lot of insider details that Star Wars geeks will love, such as the pitch for the show, its Back to the Future Part II codename ‘Paradox’, changing the colours of the Jedi to be more colourful, changes to Coruscant, and more. The notes from artists and show creators for individual images are more than just vague descriptions, they present another layer of engagement, such as mentioning inspirations, lore, artistic approach, and the ideas of the show creators and actors. I found myself reading everything with great interest and it added a lot of value to the book. Credits Keeping the positivity going, artists are credited on every page and for every image, which is always the best way to do it. As well as this, as seen below, a spread at the front of the book shares not only the names of the contributors, but their job roles too, putting the spotlight on concept and VFX artists, set decorators, costume designers, and more. This is something that has always been done well by Abrams Books and Lucasfilm, so its continuation is always appreciated. Use of Space As you can see in the previews, the team at Abrams did a fantastic job at using the full space of the page to give the art and text room to breathe. The backgrounds are kept blank, which is always effective when the art takes centre stage like it does here, because any background designs or images would only distract and make the pages feel cluttered. Double page spreads benefit from the binding too, as there is little to no image loss in the book, with an example seen below. Keeping it simple, but mixing up the layouts throughout has worked incredibly well, another highlight of this release. Value The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte comes with an RRP of $50/ £37, which is expected for an artbook of this size and is competitive on the market. For the quality of the book and the content found inside, I think this is a good price point for fans and collectors. Looking at Amazon as always for consistency, the book is 9% off in the US, a nice reduction for bargain hunters, and a huge 30% off in the UK, which is always heavier on discounts before a book release. These deals come and go, but show that even with the RRP being a fair price, there is still even better value here for people looking to find a deal. Verdict The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte is a superb collection of artwork from some of the best, with insights that add more to captivate fans of the short-lived series. The Acolyte may have ended after just one season, but this is the perfect companion to the show that adds more to the viewing experience, as well as a look at designs that never came to be. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it to those wanting more from a galaxy far, far away! - Flip Through - The Art Rust
January 30th 2026 The first new artbook of 2026 has joined The Artbook Collector YouTube channel this week, highlighting the new release from Dark Horse in partnership with Facepunch Studios, The Art of Rust ! The hardcover was published on January 27th 2026 and comes with 184 pages of artwork for the online survival game, from the characters and weapons, to the environments and assets used to help the player survive the game's world and enemies. Also included in the book is a chapter of the DLC and events, perfect given the long life Rust , which was released in early access in 2013, before the official retail release in 2018. Players new and old will find a lot of interesting pieces of art inside, especially the ideas that are shown that didn't make it to the game. From unused clothing, to a 4 legged robot that carries loot, Facepunch Studios share things that will engage fans. Of course, the artwork perfectly captures the decaying and industrial feel of the game's distinct visuals. In my review of the book I praised the production quality and recommend it to fans for the range of stages of art. For collectors of artbooks in general, the nature of a game like this does however mean that it lacks the type of art seen in other books, including keyframes and story moments. January 30th 2026 Wake up Collector, a new book is coming! Lost in Cult are back with another entry in their Designs Works series, this time looking at the development and visuals of Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector from developer Jump Over the Age. This comes as part of a series of new goodies for the game to celebrate its one year anniversary. Citizen Sleeper 2: Design Works is coming in Q3-4 of 2026 from the UK based publisher, providing fans of the dice-driven RPG a look at the artwork, diagrams, and development details of the game. Announced on social media, the 250-page hardcover is available to pre-order now on the Lost in Cult website . Author John Rogers guides you through the creation of The Starward Belt, but Citizen Sleeper 2: Design Works also comes with interviews with Gareth Damian Martin, Guillaume Singelin, and Amos Roddy, to give further insights into what it took to bring the sequel to life. This includes a look at Singelin's sketchbook and how Roddy's soundscape came together, highlighting that, like previous Design Works books, this is the ultimate deep dive—or deep voyage—into the game. The release is of course not complete without artwork too, which showcases characters, environments, and more, as seen below. Not looking to break tradition, a Deluxe Edition is also available to pre-order until March 31st that will allow those wanting some extra goodies to fill up their shelf even more. As well as the 250-page book, the following is included; 4 art prints A bookmark A premium magnetic-clasp presentation box SPINDLEJACK tabletop roleplaying game including: 10 x themed D6 dice Gatefold rule pamphlet Gatefold story pamphlet Gatefold shop pamphlet Gatefold map pamphlet Intersection boards Tracking sliders Stickers to customise the box However, Lost in Cult didn't stop there, as this is also their first sequel book in the series, so the publisher is going back and giving Citizen Sleeper: Design Works a reprint as well. Those that missed out on getting a look at the art and behind-the-scenes details of the first game will be able to get their hands on a copy when it releases alongside the new book. Not stopping there, and on a mission to treat players of the game, the in-game tabletop RPG Spindlejack will be available to buy separately, as well as an updated physical and digital copy of the tarot card based tabletop game Cycles of the Eye from the original Citizen Sleeper . As well as this a new vinyl is available for Citizen Sleeper 2 , for those wanting to get lost in its soundscapes, with a reprint also coming for the first game's vinyl too, offering a lot of options for people who are not looking to end their experience after venturing through the cosmos. If you want to empty the wallet a little more, the Anniversary Edition comes with the Deluxe Edition of Citizen Sleeper 2: Design Works , an A2 print featuring Guillaume Singelin's artwork signed by Gareth Damian Martin, a limited Sleeper Yellow vinyl with Amos Roddy's score, and a Citizen Sleeper 2 -themed vinyl slipmat. - Book Review - The Art of Rust
January 27th 2026 Facepunch Studios introduced players to the world of Rust in 2013 through early access, winning them over with its survival mechanics and freedom within its world. Over a decade later, people a still deeply invested in the game, but there had never been an artbook... until now. The Art of Rust from publisher Dark Horse was released on January 27th 2026, allowing fans to add a volume of artwork to their shelves. A copy of the book is now here, so I can give you my thoughts on the new release! Build Quality Unsurprisingly, Dark Horse deliver the goods again with another video game artbook, maintaining their high production quality. The book comes in their usual format as a 23.5cm x 21cm hardcover, this time with 184 pages. The binding is strong, perfect for the thick paper used in their releases, but it still provides enough flexibility to allow the pages to fully open up too. Reliable as always, it’s one of the best things about the publisher! Content Inside the book is split into chapters that cover all aspects of the gameplay; Characters, Bases & World, Weapons & Tech, Vehicles, and Events & DLC. It’s what we have come to expect from an artbook and that’s not a bad thing, with this book having an unsurprisingly heavier focus on the environments and assets for the genre. The art itself has a grounded style, but comes with a variety in the level of detail, from looser artwork to more detailed pieces. This also includes 3D models for concepting ideas too, offering a nice mix of techniques from the art team. The world of Rust is full of decay, custom built technology, and industrial remains, all of which are of course found in the artwork for the assets and types of locations players visit. It’s a well-balanced mix of styles and development stages throughout as you can see in the previews. A highlight of the book is that unused designs are shown throughout the chapters, not just variants of things that were used either, but ideas that never made it into the game at all. These include Cobalt branded sharks, unused climbing boots, an interesting four-legged robot called CAML, and a submarine frozen in ice. It’s always appreciated when things like this are included, because it makes for an interesting peak behind the curtain. Including the chapter ‘Events & DLC’ at the end is a thoughtful move that takes the elements of the previous chapters and condenses them into a look at some of the content added to the game. Featured is artwork for their themed updates, such as Chinese New Year, Halloween, and Easter. With the game being out for so long, it makes sense to include this for people that have been surviving the Rust ’s world during its many seasons. There’s not a huge amount of reading in The Art of Rust , though text is scattered frequently throughout. It’s made up of short paragraphs, giving descriptions of what you see, as well as some nuggets if information like inspirations, materials, and style. There are some nice insights here, but it’s not too in-depth, so it is therefore complimentary, rather than a selling point of the book. The downside for me is that as there isn’t too much text and a lot of the designs are of single assets or characters, such as gates, buildings, clothing, weapons, and base materials, which makes it feel like a retailer catalogue for a large portion of the book. Without set characters and narrative scenes found in other game genres, there is less art with full backgrounds or character/ gameplay moments, so it lacks the dynamic pieces seen in other books. The environment art of biomes and locations stand out for this reason (seen below), and while the rest of the art is still great, it may not be as appealing to collectors wanting keyframes, storyboards, animation concepts, key art, and more. Credits Sadly, the art on the page isn’t credited, so it’s impossible to know who did what. In the front of the book are a list of names of staff at Facepunch Studios, but it’s not noted what their job roles are. The list includes the COO’s, but does have artists too. Included are Howard Schechtman, Paul Bradley, Megan Tupper, Sam Kemp, Taylor Reynolds, and more, who are the creators of the art, but I can only tell you that from looking up each name online. This list is also included on the publisher details page that most people would skip as well, which is a shame for the artists involved. Use of Space The layouts throughout the book are simple, but fill the pages in a clean and easily readable way that gives the art a good amount of space. The designs of the backgrounds are interesting, because the use of multiple flat tones in rectangles with some 45° angles is effective at separating elements on the page, however, it’s very modern and doesn’t match the visual theme of Rust . A large number of books don’t design pages to match the look of the game or movie they are based on, often kept simple or even sterile, but they at least aren’t in a conflicting style. It doesn’t affect the quality of the book, although it did stand out to me. The binding comes into play with the page design, as there is little to no image loss in the centre fold for art that is placed over it, which is always fantastic to see. Overall, the team did a great job at keeping the art the main focus, although it does exaggerate the catalogue feel mentioned before. Value A look at the art behind Rust comes with an RRP of $54.99/ £49.99, which is the standard now for a Dark Horse artbook. The production quality of the book and print finish justifies the price point, especially as with the right care, a hardcover like this will last a very long time. As always, I compare prices on Amazon to stay consistent, and at the time of writing this just before the official release, the book has already been 20% off in the UK. Given that £40 is around $55 with current exchange rates, it makes sense that the UK has a price drop already as it is more expensive without one. No discounts in the US yet, but there are always price fluctuations as many collectors will know. I will always say a deal is worth looking for, but if you’re a player in the wasteland and like what you see in these previews, you won’t be let down by the quality at full price. Verdict The Art of Rust delivers a look at the concept art for a lot of what makes up the game, with the environments and unused ideas being the highlights. There is a heavier focus on single assets and character pieces compared to most releases that buyers should be aware of, but those that are curious to see that will find a lot to enjoy. Whether this book is worth buying or not is very much based on your personal preference for the content, because Dark Horse have once again released a well-made book and given the art a strong showcase. It’s very likely though that if you are reading this, you’re a fan of Rust , so are probably expecting they type of concept art highlighted in this review and previews. These types of games don’t aften get an artbook, and although it lacks story and gameplay concepts that can add more variety to other releases, this is a nice way to celebrate the ongoing long life of Rust and its art team.
