The first new artbook of 2026 has joined The Artbook Collector YouTube channel this week, highlighting the new release from Dark Horse in partnership with Facepunch Studios, The Art of Rust!
The hardcover was published on January 27th 2026 and comes with 184 pages of artwork for the online survival game, from the characters and weapons, to the environments and assets used to help the player survive the game's world and enemies.
Also included in the book is a chapter of the DLC and events, perfect given the long life Rust, which was released in early access in 2013, before the official retail release in 2018. Players new and old will find a lot of interesting pieces of art inside, especially the ideas that are shown that didn't make it to the game. From unused clothing, to a 4 legged robot that carries loot, Facepunch Studios share things that will engage fans. Of course, the artwork perfectly captures the decaying and industrial feel of the game's distinct visuals.
In my review of the book I praised the production quality and recommend it to fans for the range of stages of art. For collectors of artbooks in general, the nature of a game like this does however mean that it lacks the type of art seen in other books, including keyframes and story moments.
