The holidays are here, but the books keep coming! A new preview is on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel, with a new release taking a look at the art behind The Outer Worlds 2.
The Art of The Outer Worlds 2 was released December 16th from Dark Horse, coming with 208-pages of artwork and insights for the sci-fi RPG from developer Obsidian Entertainment. It comes shortly after the release of the game, which is less common now, so it makes for great timing for those that are not done with the Arcadia star system and want some more from its world.
The book features concept art for the characters, weapons, environments, enemies, and graphic design, covering all aspects of the game's world for players to enjoy. Those that like costume design will find a lot to pore over here, with the book showcasing the retro-futuristic style across the various factions. The environments show off some of the games locations too, including earlier artwork of designs that were never used.
I reviewed the book and found that some chapters, especially Environments, were great, but others lacked the variety seen in other releases and that made the book feel safe and sterile. For more thoughts on the what's included, as well as the physical books itself, you can read my review here - Book Review.
The Outer Worlds 2 is the sequel to Obsidian Entertainment’s satirical sci-fi RPG, continuing its humour and action in a new star system. Sent to investigate space-time rifts, the player also ends up dealing with competing factions, propaganda, and corrupt leaders, all while the game builds on the gameplay of the original. It features improved role-playing systems, storytelling, combat, and player choices, much to the praise of fans. The sharp writing made a welcomed return and visual design gets to shine on the latest hardware, making it perfect for the artbook treatment.
