June 6th 2026

It's the biggest month of the year for game reveals, updates, and trailers, with Summer Game Fest taking over as the new big event in the absence of E3. Now that the 2026 presentation is over, I have gone through each of the over 50 games to highlight which are almost certainly getting the artbook treatment, as well as those that have a chance.

Check out my picks below and find potential artbooks coming in the future from the games shown at the PlayStation State of Play here.

A New Cuphead Game & Mighty Cuphead Adventure

mighty cuphead adventure

The Cuphead series is loved by players for its challenging side-scrolling gameplay and character design, but it's certainly most known for the hand-drawn rubber-hose style visuals. Studio MDHR not only feature the wonderful artwork in the game, but also in artbooks from publisher Dark Horse Books. The announcement of another Cuphead is exciting news, especially if you enjoyed The Art of Cuphead and The Art of Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, because they are both superb and so another is very likely. The game is in early development though, so don't expect it for some time.

Mighty Cuphead Adventure was revealed as well, celebrating early video games visuals and gameplay as an 8-bit platformer. I wouldn't put it past the developer to make this an artbook as well, given how much they care about the artistry of the people involved in their previous releases. Until then though, the earlier books are still available and you can preview them YouTube channel, as seen for the first book here;

Alien Isolation 2

Developer Creative Assembly and SEGA shared a new trailer for the return of the Xenomorph in Alien: Isolation 2, the sequel to the survival horror game that had people panicking with sweaty palms in 2014. An artbook for the game is fairly likely, as The Art of Alien: Isolation from Titan Books gave fans a look at the concepts and designs of the first game when it released that same year.

  • genATLUS - There was an exciting new look at Fumito Ueda's next game, delivering a trailer with incredible visuals and a look at the gameplay, focused on climbing and using a giant mech. The director's previous games Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian did get artbooks, but one was a guide combo and The Last Guardian: An Extraordinary Story was very limited. A look at the artwork is not off the table, but it may not be a mass market release.

  • Dead by Daylight - The multiplayer horror game got a trailer for more new content as it continues its impressively long run that sees it turn 10 years old this month. The good news is that an artbook is already on the way! The Art & Lore of Dead by Daylight will be available on August 4th 2026.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced

mina the hollower art book

A brief trailer was shown at Summer Game Fest for the return of Edward Kenway in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, another game that already has an artbook on the way. This is an intriguing book given that one was released in the past for the original version of the game. The Art of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced will share new artwork and a look at the improvements made to the 2014 original, but how it does this remains to be seen, but we will know soon as it arrives on July 14th 2026.

A preview of the original book, The Art of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag can be seen below;

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin - PlatinumGames return with a game based on the hugely popular 5-issue comic The Last Ronin from IDW Publishing. The dark take on the Ninja Turtles is perfectly suited for an action game, one that could offer up some interesting concept art as well. An artbook is far from guaranteed though, as the developer doesn't have a big catalogue of them. The Bayonetta series saw three releases of The Eyes of Bayonetta, but with SEGA and Nintendo as the publishers. This is the first game from the newly announced Paramount Games Studio though, so perhaps they will give it the artbook treatment.

  • Control Resonant - I've already spoken a couple of times about the high potential of Remedy's game getting an artbook, including this week for my list based on the PlayStation State of Play. The full details can be found there, but in short, other artbooks from the studio have been limited releases from different publishers, so although it is very likely to happen, it's the how and who from that is up for speculation.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer

The upcoming racing game from Fuse Games is look spectacular, combining Wipeout and Burnout in a galaxy far, far away. Ordinarily, vehicle based games rarely get the artbook treatment, however, Star Wars games have had them in the past, including last year's brilliant book, The Art of Star Wars Outlaws. Between the locations, variety of vehicles, and characters, it wouldn't be a surprise if we saw a future announcement from Dark Horse for 'The Art of Star Wars: Galactic Racer'.

  • 1666 Amsterdam - A first look at the new game from Panache Digital Games has people talking because it comes from Patrice Désilets, creator of Assassin's Creed. There is no history to look back on for artbooks from the team, but this is the type of game that could see one if it does well. In a time where artbooks come out months or years after the game, it opens up the possibility of seeing the art behind witchcraft and possessions.

  • The Blood of Dawnwalker - Like 1666 Amsterdam, there are no previous artbook releases from Rebel Wolves, the vampire RPG is their debut title after all. The historical setting with creatures of the night does lend itself to an artbook though, so this could again be based on the success of its reception and sales.

007 First Light

Developer IO Interactive are adding a new mission to their recent hit 007 First Light, sharing a tease at the show. There is currently no news on a potential reveal of 'The Art of 007 First Light', but it is early days and as mentioned before, artbooks now can come long after release. There was always a chance of the game getting one before it launched, but given how well it has landed and now selling over 2.7 million copies in its first week, that window of possibility opens up even more.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Acendance

The Art of saros

Capcom are strangely lacking when it comes to sharing their concept art, despite huge success across many of its series and IP. One series that has been given the artbook treatment more consistently though is Monster Hunter, so the reveal of a new expansion could make another happen. Monster Hunter: World - Official Complete Works from VIZ Media gave fans a look at that previous entry, although Rise did not get the same treatment, so it's not a safe bet. The Monster Hunter series will always be perfectly suited for an art showcase, but it could go either way.

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain

This is an odd one, because I was always expecting Stellar Blade to get an artbook, however, the recent reveal of Blood Rain may explain why that hasn't happened, and why the new game may also not get one either. It has been noted that generative AI is both present within in the game through signs seen on the walls, and in the key art, so there is no reason to believe it has not been used in the concept art. That is why this somewhat obvious choice to get an artbook, is now much less so.

I recently wrote an article on the use of AI in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, in which I spoke on how generative AI is unethical commission work and should not be present in concept art books. As pointed out on social media though, in Korea they are much more accepting of the technology, but more importantly, CEO of Shift Up Hyung-tae Kim has said they need it to compete as a smaller team, as reported on GameMeca. It's not confirmed if the first game used AI, but perhaps a lack of an artbook is due to this. If one is released for Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, it's important to keep this in mind.

Final Fantasy VII: Revelation

the art of final fantasy VII revelation

The big reveal at the end of Summer Game Fest was Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the final chapter in three-part remake. The series isn't a stranger to artbooks, however, the books for VII's Remake and Rebirth have come as 'Material Ultimania' releases, combining a look at the artwork with assets, lore, details, and interviews, as opposed to being dedicated 'Art of' books. I would certainly expect Revelation to get this treatment as well, so fans can enjoy some of the concepts and storyboards behind the game.

Square Enix does also do traditional artbooks though, going the complete opposite direction and including very little text, as seen with The Art of Final Fantasy XVI and its follow up, The Art of Final Fantasy XVI: Echoes of the Rising Tide. Perhaps they will release a single dedicated artbook for all three parts of VII's story sometime in the future, but at least some published artwork is a safe bet.

An that's my list of potential artbooks from the games we saw at Summer Game Fest! There could always be more of course, but these are the entries that stood out when going through what was shown. In combination with the other events for PlayStation, Xbox, and more, there is going to be some exciting new artbooks heading our way.
