Lost in Cult continue to announce new entries in their Design Works series, with another revealed today with the full details of Faith: Design Works, after teasing the book earlier in the year.

The upcoming book is coming early in 2027 and is made in partnership with the developer Airdorf Games and its publisher New Blood Interactive, giving players a look at the creation of the 3 part game that together makes Faith: The Unholy Trinity. It was teased on social media for the games anniversary in January, but now it has been officially unveiled and pre-orders for the 200+ page book are live on the Lost in Cult website.

Faith: Design Works is authored by Steve Nguyen Scaife who guides readers through the history of the 8-bit horror game's development. It includes insights from the team at Aidorf Games from his hours of interviews with them, highlighting how the story of priest John Ward came to be. From its early beginnings and influences, to the release of Faith in 2017 and games eventually becoming Faith: The Unholy Trinity, this is the ultimate deep dive for fans of the retro horror hit.

It comes in a faux leather softcover and approximately 200 pages, including foil coloured printing on the cover and black edged pages. The preview pages seen in this article are not final, but they give you a taste of what to expect from Lost in Cult's team.

As consistent as ever, there isn't just a Standard Edition available, as the Design Works series again offers a Deluxe Edition for those wanting some extras. Faith: Design Works Deluxe Edition can be ordered until the end of June and comes with the standard edition, as well as the following;

  • Red bookcloth slipcase with black foil blocking

  • Presentation box with foiling and debossed cross

  • Rotoscope booklet with bespoke double wrap-around cover and tracing paper overlays

  • Cassette tape with Maltese Cross packaging and foiled details

  • Lenticular art cards x3

A signed edition is also available and limited to 500 copies.

Faith: The Unholy Trinity is a retro-style horror game that combines pixel visuals with creepy audio and storytelling to lose players in an atmospheric experience. Set in the 1980s, it follows Father John Ward as he confronts demonic possession and occult forces with exorcisms that spiral out of control. Using psychological dread through simple mechanics, eery soundscapes and its presentation, it builds tension to keep players engaged. The three-part series was released as a complete trilogy in 2022, gaining a cult following for its unique style.

A trailer for Faith: Design Works can be seen below that was posted on YouTube.

Lost in Cult also revealed Cult of the Lamb: Design Works in April, making this another entry in the rapidly growing series of books. To get an idea of what to expect, you can read my review of Ultros: Design Works Deluxe Edition.
