'The Art and Making of Metaphor: ReFantazio' Gets a New Release Date and Page Previews

The upcoming look at the art and designs behind Metaphor: ReFantazio from Atlus was revealed just last month, but there has already been updates to the book's listings online. Unfortunately, this does come with the news that the wait for The Art and Making of Metaphor: ReFantazio will be longer than previously expected.

The new update was spotted it on the website of its UK publisher Titan Books, and confirmed on retailer listings, including on site like Amazon in the US where it is is being published by Insight Editions. It was first noted as coming in March 2027, but it is now expected a couple of months later on May 11th, 2027.

With this update came the final cover artwork as well, which is almost identical to the placeholder, but has a slight tonal change to the colour. It also removes small details from the bottom space for the title and decreases the font size, as you can see below.

The new date may be further away, but the publisher was kind enough to also share previews ahead of the release, giving fans an idea of what to expect. The previews show that the 224-page hardcover will feature a look all aspects of the game, including the characters, the epic fantasy locations, and a variety enemies.

Now that more listings are live, the RRP of £39.99 in the UK and $50 in the US can be confirmed, which is the expected pricing of a video game artbook in 2026. This is a much larger release than the 64-page book that came as part of Metaphor ReFantazio's Collector's Edition, while also allowing more people to enjoy the art and designs from Studio Zero's art team as a widely available standalone release.

Metaphor: ReFantazio has sold more than two million copies since its launch in October 2024 and won multiple awards, so there should be a good demand to explore more of the game through its artwork. As you can see in more previews below, the text included focuses on in-game lore and designs. These previews are not final and the book's description notes that it will include development details, so expect to find those inside as well.
