October 3rd 2025 The Artbook Collector YouTube channel has another preview live this week, a look at Titan Book's latest artbook release Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: The Art of the Movie ! The 14th artbook reissue in their Infinity Saga series comes with over 300 pages for the second outing of Marvel Studios' team of misfits. It includes all of the content of the 2017 original book, in a slightly smaller size and with a dust jacket in place of a slipcase. This means that the book is at a more affordable price point, but it also improves the binding and print quality. You can check out the video preview below, as well as reading my in-depth review with comparisons to the original book here . The first time round this was a strong entry in the series, as much like the artbook for the first Guardians of the Galaxy , the scope, locations and variety of characters lends itself to an interesting and fun look at the concept art behind it. Strange and colourful locations, alien groups, odd creatures, unique ships, and more, are all explored with insights from the artists and filmmakers throughout. If you missed out on the original release or are a new fan, this is the perfect way to get all of the same content from before, as well as a new way to revisit the movie. It's also hard to pass on the designs for Baby Groot! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) sees the return of Marvel's cosmic team—Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Baby Groot—for another heartfelt, action-packed, and comedic adventure, with the type of chaos that only they can find themselves in. The movie introduces Ego, a powerful Celestial who claims to be Peter Quill’s father, as well as the debut of the fan-favourite empath, Mantis. Things don't end up being what they seem as you would expect, but the laughter and tears that come with that are also present again. - 'The Art of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach' Delayed to Early 2026
October 2nd 2025 The upcoming artbook to the critically acclaimed game Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has unfortunately been delayed. Fans of the open world game from Kojima Productions were expecting The Art of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach in just over a month, but the publisher Titan Books has moved it back in their release schedule. The delay has been confirmed on their website, which now shows the book as coming on February 17th 2026, a 3 month push from its original release date. The 256-page book is being published in partnership with the game's developer and was revealed on the 26th of April. The last update for the book revealed the official cover, which you can see below. As mentioned in the Artbook News Roundup for September, I was informed that a delay may be coming, which has now sadly happened. No reason has been given, often the case for artbooks as they happen quietly and under the radar. Often the only way to know is to keep checking listings manually, or by receiving an email from your retailer of choice if you pre-ordered the book. Set backs can happen due a large list of reasons, so it's impossible to guess as to what caused this one. The upcoming hardcover features the concept art for the game, with industry veteran Yoji Shinkawa lending his talent to a Kojima game yet again, having previously worked on the Metal Gear Solid series. Expect to see the art for the characters, weapons, vehicles, technology, environments, and the enemies of the game. The Art of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has an RRP of $40/ £30, a lower price than many artbooks on the market and that's great news for players wanting more from the game's world. The first artbook for the series, The Art of Death Stranding , was released in 2020 and comes in the same format as the sequel book. To get an idea of what to expect in the upcoming release, check out a preview below for that release. Hopefully this will be the last update for the book before it is now released on February 17th, as this will no doubt be filled with incredible artwork and designs. A copy will also be joining the collection here, so a review will be coming too. - Thor: Ragnarok Infinity Saga Artbooks Has Been Delayed
October 2nd 2025 The Infinity Saga artbook series from Titan Books has been a great way for fans to enjoy the concept art for Marvel Studio's movies, but there is sadly now a longer wait for the rerelease of the Thor: Ragnarok artbook. Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Thor: Ragnarok - The Art of the Movie is the 16th of 24 books in the resized matching set that was due to be released on November 4th, but has now been moved to December 2nd, as spotted on the website of the publisher. The delay of the 328-page hardcover comes as no surprise, as the previous entry in the series, Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Spider-Man: Homecoming - The Art of the Movie , was delayed to November 11th. As the series is releasing in the same order as the originals, this meant that the Thor: Ragnarok artbook was inevitably going to be delayed too, it was just a matter of time. The good news it that the next book after that is for Black Panther on February 3rd 2026, so this book doesn't need to be delayed as it is still in the correct order. The most recent release was Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: The Art of the Movie , which offers a fantastic look at the concept art from the original, with improved binding and a superior print quality to the 2017 version from Marvel. This is the ongoing benefit of the entire series, so the future books will no doubt continue to implement these selling points. You can read a review with more details on the Infinity Saga series here and you can see an example of the improvements below, with the Infinity Saga book above the original. The Titan Books' Infinity Saga series is perfect for fans that may have missed out on older artbooks, or have become fans after they were published. They may come without a slipcase and in a slightly smaller size, but with many of the originals becoming harder to find and expensive to buy, they are a great option to get the studio's art into your collection. A copy of Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Thor: Ragnarok - The Art of the Movie will be joining the collection here, so expect a review with comparisons to the original when it arrives December 2nd. If you want to add the book to your own collection, you can pre-order it below. Buy Here (US) / Buy Here (UK) Tags; #Thor #MCU #Marvel #MarvelStudios #TitanBooks #MarvelCinematicUniverse
- 'Harry Potter: The Storyboards' Now Coming Later in October
October 1st 2025 The upcoming look at the storyboards behind the 8 movies of the Harry Potter series has been hit with a small delay, moving the book release to later in October. Harry Potter: The Storyboards from Insight Editions was due to be released on October 7th, but has now been pushed back later in the month to the 28th. The schedule change was recently spotted on retailer listings and confirmed on the website of its publisher. As the change is recent, not all online stores have updated their listings yet, but expect these to be changed soon. The book is on the larger side, coming with 352 pages inside of a 9.25" x 11" hardcover, giving fans of the Wizarding World a comprehensive look the early vision for the movies. It collects storyboards for all 8 of Harry Potter releases, showcasing the work of the talented team that helped shape the scenes and vision of each entry. It also includes commentary from the artists and filmmakers for further insights into the series. The Harry Potter films are adapted from J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novels and were released between 2001 and 2011. Harry Potter became hugely popular IP and a household name, drawing in audiences across multiple generations, especially those that grew up with the movies and books, while maturing with them. The franchise is looking at a potential new resurgence too, as HBO are adapting the books into a TV series that is set to premier in 2027. But for those that would like to revisit the first adaptation, this new book looks like the perfect way to do so in a unique way. Future updates will be shared here and for fans of the movies, you can pre-order Harry Potter: The Storyboards for your own collection here; Tags; #HarryPotter #InsightEditions #WarnerBros

There's no wasted space in this book, much like the previous release from their partnership, The Art of Fallout 4. The art first approach is clear on every page and that makes this book also appealing to artists looking for sci-fi references and inspiration. - 'The Art and Making of Sid Meier's Civilization VII' Delayed to January
October 1st 2025 Bad news has struck fans of the Civilization series, as the upcoming artbook for the latest game has suffered a delay less than a month before it was due to hit shelves. Spotted on retailer listings, The Art and Making of Sid Meier's Civilization VII has been given a new release date, moving from October 21st 2025 to January 6th 2026. The 256-page hardcover from Insight Editions and the game's developer Firaxis Games will give players a look at the artwork behind the strategy game, as well as insights into how it was made. No reason was given for the delay, which isn't unusual if you have read reports on delays before, nor was it acknowledged publicly by the publisher. It's not common for books this close to being released to get this much of a push either, as they typically become shorter at the closer they are to publication. The book was also listed in the Artbook News Roundup video for September as coming in October, but as this news came surprisingly close to the finish line, it happened the day it was shared. The Art and Making of Sid Meier's Civilization VII will feature a foreword from the co-creator himself, Sid Meier, and take players through the development and concept art of the 4X strategy game. It includes interviews with the development team at Firaxis Games for insights on the latest instalment of the series, alongside the historical research that helped bring the game to life. It boasts designs and illustrations for the cities, wonders, combat units, and more, across it many time periods. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is the latest entry in the long-running franchise that launched in February 2025 on PC and consoles. The game added new changes that include letting players mix and match leaders and civilizations independently, and the dividing the history progression into three major “Ages”; Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern. The series is now over 30 years old, with the original being published in 1991 and began the 4X genre. Future updates will be reported here and for players that are wanting more from Sid Meier's Civilization VII , you can order it here; Tags; Based On: #CivilizationVII #InsightEditions #2KGames #FiraxisGames

- Book Review - Starfield Visual Compendium
September 30th 2025 Bethesda Game Studios took to the cosmos in 2023 with their sci-fi epic Starfield , the first new IP from the studio in 25 years. With a huge number of planets to visit, enemies to take on, and ships to construct, another artbook from the studio was inevitable. That book, Starfield Visual Compendium , has now arrived to treat fans to a look at the art that helped bring the game to life. Bethesda partnered again with publisher Dark Horse to release the book on September 16 th 2025, arriving the month of Starfield’s second anniversary. A copy has now joined the collection, allowing me to take you on a voyage of my thoughts for this new release, letting you know what to expect and if I think you should consider adding this to your own shelf! Build Quality Dark Horse have been very consistent in their quality and format, which is not a bad thing at all and showcases why game companies use them so frequently. The book comes in their 9” x 12” hardcover format that they use for almost all of their artbooks. The notable difference this time is the 368 pages it boasts, which is a lot more than the usual 180-240 seen typically. Fortunately, the binding is again very good and able to handle the heavy weight of all the high-quality thick pages. I’m never concerned about receiving a poorly made book from Dark Horse, with being another example as to why. Content I was excited to see how the content would be handled, as the last book released for the studio was The Art of Fallout 4, which was also a huge book and came absolutely packed with art. I’m happy to say this release was also designed by people who clearly take issue with wasted space. When asked about how much art to include, I can only assume the answer was “How much do you have?”, because the pages are flooded with concepts and designs. It gives you an idea of how much imagery is created at the studio, especially given the how much they fit in despite the bigger size of the book. Each chapter is like this, with the worlds, characters, creatures, weapons, spaceships, set dressing, and illustrations covered inside. It’s an impressive volume of art and all of them are well showcased with the book’s fantastic print quality too. What I like most about this book is that they clearly wanted to highlight as much of the art that helped shape the game as possible, because it’s not just the highly detailed concepts, or developed designs included, but the loose art, early sketches, and even pencil and chalk work too. You get a full picture of the stages used to create a new universe and after all, art should be seen, not hidden away on a hard drive or in a draw! If you’re a sci-fi fan then you’ll find something for you, as no single chapter is neglected. If you like environment art, you’ll enjoy the biomes, planet scenery, a wide range of colours, interior design, architecture, and more. The game’s range of places to visit is reflected here too, perfectly suited for an interesting artbook. There is also a chapter on set dressing, which are the items, furniture and technology found in the game. This is often a smaller part of an artbook, but Starfield Visual Compendium gives it a fleshed-out chapter, again giving readers an idea of the work going on behind the scenes. Characters get a good showcase too, which includes the factions, civilians, mechs, and industry workers, delving into their suits, clothing and gear. There is no doubt a lot of reference material here for artists of all levels as well, making it a valuable resource. Of course, the player needs to get around and defend themselves, so there is also a lot of art for the spaceships and weapons for Starfield . Those that love ship design will revel in all of the different styles explored, the look at individual parts and nerdy interior details. Variations of the guns also fill the pages too, separated by the manufacturers found in the game. My personal favourite chapter was ‘Creatures’, 60 pages of concept art for beasts and critters of all sizes and types, from the earliest unused iterations, to the final designs. It’s an onslaught of creativity that has some fantastic and familiar looking animals, as well as strange and otherworldly ideas you love to see in a sci-fi game. They really took advantage of large page count and it makes you feel like you’re getting multiple books in one, as there is as much to see in just a couple of chapters than many entire artbooks. The text featured gives descriptions and some insights into the design ideas and approach. It’s not a deep dive about the making of the game, you can see in the previews the goal was to share the artwork above all else, but what is used is the perfect amount to keep it interesting. I think a total lack of text would have made it feel directionless, so it was the right call to include some. Credits The artists are credited in the back of the book on the last page, which does mean you don’t get a picture of who did what. Perhaps they were considering the amount of space needed for credits, as with so much on each page, it would have pushed the book towards 400 pages. I’m happy they are included though, so the artists can be looked up. Use of Space It can be a disaster trying to fit so much on to a page, you can end up with terrible overlapping or an incoherent mess that looks like a child’s sticker book, but I'm thrilled that didn't happen here. Starfield Visual Compendium has balanced volume expertly well with readability, an organised chaos that still gives the art the space it needs to breathe and be enjoyed. A lot of the concepts have no background and so could be placed more freely on the page which helps, but even full pieces are placed with care. The text was also well thought out, either finding its place on the page or in the corner of a piece of artwork without obscuring any details. It’s great work from the team that helped create the book who designed the pages like a Bethesda themed game of Tetris. Value The book comes with an RRP of $60/ £54, which is a little more than most Dark Horse artbooks, no doubt to account for high page count. It’s only a $5 increase though, which considering it’s almost twice the size of previous releases, is certainly nothing to complain about. Using Amazon in my reviews to stay consistent, the book at the time of writing this is 8% off in the US and 25% off in the UK, which highlights that despite already being well priced, there are deals to be found too. For a book of this quality, with such a wealth of content, the price point will not leave fans disappointed. Verdict Starfield Visual Compendium is a superb book that deserves a place on the shelf of every fan. The book is overflowing with incredible artwork for the game, it boasts a lot of early and unused designs, and the print and build quality of the book is solid as always from the publisher. The partnership between Dark Horse and Bethesda delivers again with a book that comes highly recommended to both players and artists. If you find yourself headed into the cosmic unknown and want to take some books along, this is one that would be worth bringing on the ship! - Book Review - Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: The Art of the Movie
September 29th 2025 The Guardians of the Galaxy made their return in 2017 with Vol.2 , reuniting audiences with some of our favourite characters, as well as some new faces too. It packed in more heart, humour, and—the same yet now more adorable—screams of "I am Groot!". An artbook was published for the movie, which has now been rereleased by Titan Books as part of their Infinity Saga series, bringing the book to new fans and those that missed out before. Now that the September 30th release of Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: The Art of the Movie is here, I can revisit the weird and wonderful worlds of the movie and give my thoughts on what's inside. As I own the original and it’s a favourite in the series of mine, this is a chance for me not just to review the book, but also compare it to the original! I will use my normal 5 review points; build quality, content, credits, use of space and value, but re-order them to save the comparison to the original, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: The Art of the Movie from 2017, for the end. Content This book comes with 312 pages and a huge amount of concept art, significantly more than the Multiverse Saga artbooks for newer projects. This was a highlight of the older Marvel Studios’ releases, as it allowed the movies that needed more pages to get them, with this being one to take advantage of the extra pages. The spectacular artwork covers all aspects of the movie, such as characters, locations, technology, ships, and keyframes, giving fans of the Guardians a good mix of designs to enjoy. If you have concerns that this book includes different content than the original, you need not worry as everything is kept the same. The artwork, text, page count, and order are all identical, just adjusted for the new sizing of the book. There are even references to Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War in the back as being set for future release, just like the original. This is true for all of the Infinity Saga series books, as noted in my review for the previous entry from Titan Books, Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie. The character art here dives into the costumes of the returning team, as well as their weapons and technology. This of course includes a look at the fan-favourite and ever adorable Baby Groot, who captures the same charm in the artwork as seen in the movie. As expected, the incredibly detailed concepts bring the characters to life, with the artists showcasing why they are some of the best in the industry, which includes Andy Park, Jackson Sze, Anthony Francisco, and many more. This continues for other characters too, including Yondu and the Ravagers, as well as Mantis and Ego, who get a lot of page space for their debut concepts. Ego gets a great showcase, with art that was done before Kurt Russell was cast in the role, as it depicts both Russell and other faces in the as the character. Mantis also has some fun pages too, with a range of looks and colours that fans will find interesting to pore over. I also really like the inclusion of some hand drawn sketches for the characters as these are rare for the series, but a great addition. I enjoyed the large amount of unused material found throughout too, a frequent highlight of the studios' books. Being that Guardians of the Galaxy is in the cosmic corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are some incredible concepts of locations and planets they visit, from the pristine golden home world of the Sovereign, to the intricate designs for the planet of Ego. The use of colour is superb, making the planets feel distinct and very alien, helped by the high print quality Titan Books boast in this release. Ego’s planet and castle especially are highlights due to the geometric, yet still biological, visual style that is an impressive showcase of the talent at Marvel. The text throughout gives insights through interviews with the artists and creative team behind the movie. It’s an interesting read that touches on the characters, the approach to their designs, some production details, and more. It’s not a text heavy book, but I like the amount included as it gives a lot of detail while keeping the art as the main focus. Credits Like all Marvel Studios artbooks, both old and new, The Infinity Saga - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: The Art of the Movie credits the artists on each page, so you know exactly who did what. This is done with their last names, while their full name and all the pages they are featured on are listed in the back. This way, if you have a favourite, you can quickly find all their featured work which is a nice feature. Build Quality This is where I can start to make comparisons while continuing the review, as the differences begin to show. The most notable again is a lack of a slipcase that was present with the original release from Marvel. I liked the slipcases, they were strong and protective, but that does come at a literal cost. Not including one here has made the book much more affordable than new releases from Marvel, which now reach triple digits, so I think this was a good move to replace it with a dustjacket by Titan Books. The new hardcover book is a little smaller that the original at 24 x 27cm, as opposed to 24.5 x 29.5 cm for the first edition. It’s not a huge difference and it is still a good size. In fact, it’s a little thicker due to the improved binding quality, despite having the same page count and content. As with previous entries in the Infinity Saga series, the book cover of the Marvel original is featured on the dustjacket and the slipcase art is on the hardcover underneath. It’s a thoughtful inclusion and maintains the approach to including all of the material from before. The biggest improvements in this new rerelease are again the binding and print quality. There is more flexibility in the backing of the binding, allowing the pages to open fully and lay flat, creating a better reading experience and reducing image loss for art that cross the centre fold too. The binding in the originals could be very tight, making the pages bounce back, made worse by having less page signatures, so this is a big selling point of the Infinity Saga series. You can see the difference above. The brighter colours and improved contrast are also a highlight for me, making this book the better of the two for the display of artwork. Marvel’s release of Guardians of the Galaxy: The Art of the Movie didn’t have the darkest art like others, just by nature of the movie being much more colourful, but it is still improved here and that is a huge win for fans interested in buying this version. Below you can see two examples that highlight the better detail clarity, with the new Infinity Saga release above the Marvel published original. Use of Space The designers at Marvel did a great job in 2017, making the most of the space while using nice clean layouts. It’s a lot simpler that other Marvel books, there are no colourful backgrounds or designs, just simple white pages and I actually like that here. With so much art, it doesn’t need to do anything more and it makes the text nice and clear too. For this new rerelease, the layouts are kept the same, with adjustments made to the sizing and texts to stay true to the original. This means text fills up more of the empty space and some images meet the edge of the page where they previously had a margin, but overall nothing is negatively affected. The print quality helps maintains the image clarity, even where they may be a little smaller. Value Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: The Art of the Movie retails at full price for $50/ £35, a cheaper alternative to a second hand or sealed copy of the original found online. Part of the reason for the series was likely that some of the books are harder to come by now, and although this isn’t necessarily one of them, this comes with a quality and a price point that makes it hard to pass on. It is worth noting that $50 in the US is a price increase from the last entry for Doctor Strange . The global economy and tariffs could be the reason for this, but it’s not all doom and gloom, as at the time of writing this before its release, on Amazon US the book is $40, so reductions are available for those interested in a copy. It’s already on offer in the UK too at £27, but of course this will fluctuate. For a wealth of concept art from some of the best in the industry, based on a fun and creative movie, you can’t go wrong with the pricing here, even without a discount. Verdict Marvel Studios' The Infinity Saga - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: The Art of the Movie showcases superb artwork for the characters, worlds, and moments of the movie, all alongside insights that fans will appreciate. At the same time, Titan Books proves again that the Infinity Saga series is now the best way to view the artwork with a well-made artbook, big improvements, and a good price point. One of my favourite books in the original run continues to be a favourite in this new series, coming highly recommended for not just those that love the movie, but also sci-fi art in general. People that missed out on the original 2017 book should look to get this added to their shelf! - Flip Through - Dark Souls III: Design Works
September 26th 2025 This week on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel is a preview of for Dark Souls III: Design Works , highlighting the artwork for the third entry in the hugely popular series! This is the English version of the book that was published by Udon Entertainment in 2018 and follows Design Works books for the previous Dark Souls games too. This is also an earlier cover that matches the original 2017 Japanese version, which has since been updated. The hardcover book comes with 336 pages of art and illustrations for the hit game and its DLC. Inside the focus is on the art, you won't find insights and production details here like other books, which is the approach to all artbooks from the game's developer FromSoftware. It's also much more of an illustration book too, as it doesn't include early sketches and unused concepts, but rather the detailed renders to showcase the talent of the artists. It covers the classes, enemies, locations, items, weapons, and more from the game. FromSoftware's Dark Souls III from 2016 is a dark fantasy RPG that brings back a mix of brutal combat and interconnected world design. Players take on the role of the Ashen One, an undead warrior tasked with linking the First Flame or leaving it to die, all while taking in deadly enemies that continue the series' punishing difficulty. Like before, it also tells its story though through cryptic dialogue, items, and environments, that piece together the lore of its world. The game is critically acclaimed and a favourite for many in not just the Dark Souls series, but in the genre too. The game was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows. Check out the preview above and find more artbooks on the YouTube channel to add to your own collection. Dark Souls III: Design Works is also getting a reprint too, with stock expected to arrive mid-October. - 'The Art of Paul Bonner: Down from the Mountains' Release Moved to September 2026
September 22nd 2025 The upcoming two-volume book set showcasing the artwork of fantasy illustrator Paul Bonner has suffered a long delay and is now not expected until deep into the year 2026. As spotted on the website of the publisher Titan Books, the original release date for The Art of Paul Bonner: Down From The Mountains was October 28th, but this has just moved almost an entire year back to September 1st 2026. The two books will feature 704 pages between them and will showcase Bonner's artwork from 2008 until the present day. He is best known for for his work across board games, card games, and book covers. This is an unusual delay, because although they can often happen the month before release as seen here, typically it isn't a long push back when this close to the finish line. What the reason could be is unknown, as Titan Books is one of the many publishers that move back books all the time with no public acknowledgement. A book set of this size comes with the reasonable expectation that any change or scheduling issue could be more problematic than most, but without word from the publisher, it's hard to speculate as to why this has happened. As well as highlighting incredible fantasy artwork, The Art of Paul Bonner: Down from the Mountains will provide insights into the creation and inspirations of the art. It will also feature early sketches of his pieces, so you can see how the images were developed from their initial stages. The chosen pieces inside were curated by Bonner himself and will include art from Riotminds’ Trudvang Chronicles , Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering , CMON’s The Dead Keep , and more. You can see some preview pages below that show how early sketches are used across the volumes alongside his striking finished art. Paul Bonner is an award-winning artist that has contributed to the worlds of big names in the industry, including Games Workshop's Warhammer series, Dungeons & Dragons , and World of Lone Wolf , as well as creating covers for J.R.R. Tolkien's books. In 2007 Bonner also released Out of the Forests: The Art of Paul Bonner, also with Titan Books as the publisher, which featured 176 pages of his art up to 2008, where this new release will pick up from. Future updates will be reported here and for those interested in ordering the book set, you can do so below; Tags; Based On: #PaulBonner #MagicTheGathering #Wahammer #TrudvangChronicles Publisher: #TitanBooks

- 'The Art of Zootopia 2' Delayed to November
September 22nd 2025 Disney's Zootopia 2 is headed to theatres on November 26th, marking the fan requested return of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. As expected, Disney have partnered with Chronicle Books to release an artbook for the animated movie, but the wait will now be a little longer than originally planned to get a copy. The Art of Zootopia 2 is a 172-page hardcover book and was set to be published on October 28th, but listings online have now been updated with a release date of November 18th. The date on UK listings is the 20th, however as books are published on Tuesdays, expected this to move forward or to the following week. The reason for the delay is unknown, but this is par for the course when it comes to artbook schedule changes. The book is still set to be sold ahead of the movie's release, which isn't unusual for artbooks based on Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar movies. This most recently happened with The Art of Elio , The Art of Inside Out 2, and The Art of Moana 2 . It isn't a typical arrangement for artbooks, as most come out after, be it by days, months, or in some cases, years. This is especially true for Disney, who have their artbooks based on Marvel and Star Wars projects come a long time after their debut. In the case of their animations though, fans can either get an inside and spoiler-filled look ahead of seeing the movie, or grab a copy immediately after enjoying their trip to the cinema. The Art of Zootopia 2 will give fans a look at the early sketches and ideas for the characters and locations of the upcoming release, as well as the storyboards and colorscripts too. As expected, there will also be insights included from the team behind the art and movie through interviews. The Chronicle Books releases are always worth checking out as they are of a good quality, well designed, come with artists credits throughout, and are priced very fairly too. It goes without saying for those that have bought an animated Disney book release before, but the art is always superb, oozing with the charm and fun you see on-screen, even in the earliest designs and sketches. You can check out a Disney Pixar and Chronicle Books artbook below to get an idea of what to expect, with a preview of The Art of Elio. Zootopia 2 will once again follow Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) in the animal filled city of Zootopia. This time they go undercover to investigate a new mysterious snake that has made its way to the city, played by Ke Huy Quan. The movie has been requested for a long time following the success of the original in 2016 and boasts a large cast of actors, which also includes Idris Elba, Nate Torrence, and Fortune Fiemster. - The Fantastic Four: First Steps Artbook Gets New Details and Previews
September 20th 2025 After periodic updates for the upcoming artbook based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of The Fantastic Four, it looks like the final one has now arrived. Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps - The Art of the Movie now has some new previews and details about the 'Portfolio' volume. Since being listed back in February, the slipcase set has had two titles changes, multiple page number updates, two placeholder covers, the reveal of a second book, and additions to the description. Only two details have remained the same, the release date of November 18th—which if it sticks to would break the cycle of 26 prior books being delayed—and the price. Starting with 'The Art of the Movie' book, it has now been confirmed it will include 256 pages, making it the first to go above 224 in the Multiverse Saga and is a welcome change. More is always a good thing, especially when a movie has a focus on and the introduction of multiple characters. You can see the promo image below that also highlights the cover art of the hardcover book featuring Galactus. The second update is for the 'Portfolio' book. In previous reporting , I speculated that as the total page count is 288, that the first volume would be 224 again, with this look at Reed Richards blueprints and designs being 64. However, it is now confirmed to be just 32 with a card cover, not quite the big addition some may have hoped for. Below you can see some preview pages, that highlight some nice artwork that includes the designs of their car and space suits seen in the movie. The slipcase set also comes again with five lithograph prints that have been featured in the previous releases that came with a hardcover book and a slipcase. They come in a simple folded piece of card and feature concept art on each one. As both as a collector of the Marvel Studios artbooks and someone that reviews releases, I'll switch hats from a reporter of news to a reviewer as I have done before to raise the biggest issue many will also share. If you have been following the reporting here on the book, the same concern has been raised each time—the price. The $150 price tag is hard to ignore and adds on another $50 to an already high increase made for the current slipcase format. I said before that 288 pages between two books and 5 prints will be a tough sell at this price, as it is not remotely competitive with other artbooks on the market. $50 for an extra 32 pages in the book and the 32 page Portfolio inclusion is what you can buy a newly released 200+ page hardcover artbook for, so this can't be overlooked. Three high quality books Dark Horse, Abrams Books, or Titans Books for the same price as this one puts Marvel in the position of having to prove themselves with this upcoming release. A copy of the book will be joining the collection here to be reviewed when it arrives, so I'm very curious to go hands on with this entry in the series and see if the price is indeed justified. For a series that gets little to no promotion, it will be interesting to see how this performs on sales charts, as the limited audience has been given a new barrier for entry. I'm also keen to see if this format is used again, as that would indicate its success, or if it gets deeply discounted very quickly as some of their previous books have. Before then though, check out some of their previous releases here and watch a preview of Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie below from The Artbook Collector YouTube channel. - Flip Through - The Color of Toy Story: A 30th Anniversary Celebration of Colorscripts and Creativity
September 19th 2025 On The Artbook Collector YouTube channel this week is a look at the upcoming book, Disney/Pixar The Color of Toy Story: A 30th Anniversary Celebration of Colorscripts and Creativity ! This continued partnership between Pixar and Chronicle Books showcases the colorscripts of the first four Toy Story movies to celebrate the release of the original 30 years ago. The 16cm x 21cm book is being released on September 23rd 2025, and although small in dimensions, packs a hefty 328 pages for fans to enjoy. It delivers a heavy dose of nostalgia for the animated movie series, using the wonderful art to take readers through the story of each release. - 'WORLD OF TANKS. Journey Through Art' Delayed to October
September 19th 2025 The upcoming artbook from Cook and Becker in partnership with developer Wargaming was set to be released this month, but has now been updated on their website with a new release date, pushing the book back to October. WORLD OF TANKS. Journey Through Art was given an expected shipping date of September 15th and would allow players to dive into the concept art of the game to celebrate its 15th anniversary. However, it has now been delayed, but only after this date had come and gone. After posting about its imminent release on social media on the 15th—even getting an interaction from the publisher themselves—the book was then showing as expected to ship as October 31st on their website within just a few days. No reason has been given for the delay, nor a notification for those that have pre-ordered the book. This is typical of artbook delays, as although frequent across all publishers, they usually go quietly under the radar. In the past though, Cook and Becker have emailed customers with an update, but that wasn't the case this time, leaving it up for speculation as to why it happened. The book is still available for pre-order now though as a standard edition or in a bundle with the The Art of World of Tanks, which was released for the 10th anniversary. The Deluxe and Collector's editions have sold out and are now unavailable. WORLD OF TANKS. Journey Through Art will showcase the concepts and designs for the free-to-play multiplayer game, covering its history that includes the war-torn maps, keyframes, and as expected, the tanks the player can use too. It comes as a wide-format hardcover and previews be seen below. World of Tanks was launched in 2010 and has since been released on multiple platforms, including PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and mobile. It boasts over 800 armoured vehicles from countries around the world, from those used in battles, to some that have only prototypes and blueprints. The game has players control one of these units on a map with others online, engaging in tactical 15 vs 15 tank battles. Cook and Becker are also no strangers to artbooks, having published The Art of World of Tanks as previously mentioned, but also the fantastic Killzone Visual Design and the recently released book, The Art of Still Wakes The Deep . Be sure to check out their page and place an order for the book if interested ahead of its new October release date. Tags; #WorldOfTanks #CookAndBecker #Wargaming

- Book Review - The Color of Toy Story: A 30th Anniversary Celebration of Colorscripts and Creativity
September 18th 2025 Pixar and Chronicle Books continue their long time partnership with a new book focused on the colorscripts of the last four Toy Story movies. Disney/Pixar The Color of Toy Story: A 30th Anniversary Celebration of Colorscripts and Creativity to give it its full name, is an extremely long title, but comes as a compact dive into the artwork behind the storytelling of the beloved series, giving fans young and old a look at a part of Pixar’s creative process. The book is out on September 23 rd 2025, but a copy has arrived here early, so I can give it a review ahead of its release and let you know what to expect and if this should join your own collection. This review also comes from someone that grew up with Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the toys, so this was a fun book to get into! Build Quality The first thing to note is that this is a small book, which shouldn’t be a surprise as it was noted online as being 6.45” x 8.35” (16cm x 21cm), but as someone handling books all the time, it did really jump out at me. Despite this though, it’s on the thicker side as it packs in 328 pages, which is more than most full sized artbooks. This will make sense when you see the approach to the presentation of the art. With this many pages, it is of course a hardcover as expected and in keeping with the rest of the Pixar series from Chronicle Books, being well made as expected too. A nice touch is the reflective blue gilded page edges as well. The biggest positive for me is the binding, as having flipped through it multiple times already, it has held up well and that cannot be said for all books of this thickness. There is a lot of flex on the backing to allow the pages to open fully and they used a lot of page signatures (groups of pages) to help with this. You can see small gaps between some of the pages that is minimal, but overall a very good job at handling the dimensions of this book. The image below compares the Chronicle Books’ standard book size in The Art of Elio (placed underneath), as well as a standard pen and PlayStation controller, to give you an idea of what to expect. Content Following the introduction of the book, the chapters are split into each movie, showcasing the colorscripts for each. If you have bought a Pixar artbook before, you have seen colorscripts in the past, as they are usually showcased on at least a single spread in those books. This time, the full colour roadmaps/ scripts are the focus, allowing readers to go through the stories using the brilliant work of the artists. Displayed like reels of film, with either one or two strips per spread, you get a look at how artists like Ralph Eggleston and Jim Pearson are able to map out the movies through their wonderful art. Each page captures moments of the stories that make it clear why they still use colorscripts today, as you can see their direct and heavy influence on not just scenes, but the mood and emotions too. These aren’t accurate, highly detailed pieces of work, but they still carry the charm everyone loves about Pixar. Some are keyframes created with pastels that are very loosely composed, but you can still depict what is being shown through the mastery of their use of colour. At the end of each chapter, you get some concept art too, which is a nice inclusion to break up the book and highlight some fun early artwork too, especially for the first two movies. The focus of The Color of Toy Story is the art, so you won’t find lots of insights here, but you do get notes on the materials used to create the pieces which I like, as it shows the transition from traditional materials to digital from Toy Story to Toy Story 4 . This was a fun book to flip through as someone who was just 3 years old when the original came out and continues to enjoy them as an adult. It gave me a big hit of nostalgia seeing key moments of the original, as well replaying all of the movies again for me in one sitting. Concept art is always interesting to pore over, but colorscripts superbly executed like this capture the feelings of seeing the end result all over again. It all makes you realise when flipping through the pages why a dedicated book was released like this to celebrate the creative process. The print quality is also excellent and that comes as no surprise from the publisher, giving the work of the artists the presentation they deserve. Credits For the concept art pages, credits are placed under each image which is the best way to do it. For the colorscripts, the artists is named at the start of the chapter, so you can clearly see who is responsible for the following pages. All the credits come with the materials they used too, whether it be paint, pastels, or digital. A very good job as always from Chronicle Books. Use of Space Typically for an artbook, you want the pages filled and empty space is not ideal. However, there are some books that don’t go for this for various reasons, and this is one of them. As you have seen in the previews, the art is displayed in strips and mimics the black bars seen when watching a movie. I like this approach as it allows the art to breathe more on each page, which made more important because of the small dimensions of the book. The other reason I like this is because if you filled out all of the pages, the book would be even smaller. The high page count of 328 could have been a lot lower, but this feels right for the colorscripts, as opposed to what could have been a full size release with around only 100 pages. The most impressive thing for me in The Color of Toy Story is that there is extremely minimal or no image loss in the art that crosses the centre fold. Smaller books like this with a high page count can be completely ruined by big chunks of artwork getting swallowed in the centre. However, Chronicle Books has done a fantastic job at avoiding this here. The number of page signatures, binding, and work of the designers have got around this common issue, one that was my biggest concern for the release. Value The Color of Toy Story: A 30th Anniversary Celebration of Colorscripts and Creativity comes with an RRP of $35/ £26, which is a little cheaper than the full artbook releases from the publisher. The pricing feels about right, but perhaps a little on the high side of acceptable. The book is well made and comes with a high page count, though some may be put off by the size. I see no problem with the value here though, and as we all know, books can often be found discounted very soon after release, sometimes even before, so keep an eye out for that. I can see animation and Toy Story fans being happy with this pricing regardless. Verdict Pixar and Chronicle Books deliver a big hit of nostalgia, capturing the magic of the four movies in a compact package. Toy Story fans will get to relive the movies and moments again through this book, while gaining a new love and respect for the artistry that helped bring them to life. It might not deliver all the insights and details of an ‘Art of’ book, but enjoying the movies again in this way makes it a great addition to any Pixar collection, as well as being perfect for animators and artists looking to get inspiration too. - Dark Horse's 'The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope – The Manga' Goes Live on Kickstarter
September 16th 2025 Dark Horse Books have now launched their Kickstarter campaign for The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope – The Manga, offering fans a chance to grab the Collector's Edition of the book. The Kickstarter project is unique for Dark Horse, who typically launch all of their collector's editions at retail, but for the look at Hisao Tamaki's manga rendition of A New Hope, they have taken to the crowdfunding platform for a special release. This exciting new hardcover set for of the 1997 manga has two versions that fans can back, the Collector's Edition and the Masterpiece Edition, both available through Kickstarter until the campaign ends on October 17th. The book is expected to ship in May of 2026 and will be filled with the stunning art behind the 1997 manga adaptation of the first Star Wars film, with never-before-seen art boards as they were originally created. This time though, English translations have been added for the original Japanese lettering, so it can be read by more people for the first time. The Collector's Edition comes with two 10” x 12” volumes, a Kickstarter exclusive cover, and is printed on archival-quality stock paper to give Tamaki's incredible artwork the showcase it deserves. These books can be ordered with and without a slipcase. Each will be also available at retail next summer, but won't feature the exclusive covers and special treatments. The English translation is featured in the margins of the pages throughout and can be backed starting at $75, with a digital version as an option at $35. The Masterpiece Edition comes in at a bigger size of 15.05” x 10.85” and has three volumes. The first two present Tamaki's work at its original size and right-to-left reading order, with the third volume giving the English translation in a separate book. This will not be available at retail, so those interested should order it while you can and pricing starts at $200 As well as this, there are other variants too, which include alternate covers and signed copies, giving backers multiple options to consider. There is also the Tamaki Art Triptych Folio, a large three[panel folio that highlight a couple of complete triptych print sets. A preview of this can be seen below. The funding goal is $50,000 and as I write this it is already well on its way to reaching that, which is fantastic news for the publisher. Kickstarter is often for all versions of a book, but this interesting approach from Lucasfilm and Dark Horse allows people that would buy the retail version to add something more special to their collection. If it becomes as successful as it looks like it is going to be, perhaps this could be a consideration for other special releases in the future. Be sure to check out the Kickstarter campaign and grab the exclusive versions of the book before it ends on October 17th - The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope – The Manga by Hisao Tamaki . - 'The Art of Rust' Hit With Another Delay
September 16th 2025 The onslaught of delays continue for The Art of Rust , with yet another date change spotted on the website of the publisher Dark Horse. This marks the 6th setback in as many months since its reveal in March, having already been pushed out of 2025. Last moved to January 6th 2026, the book is now expected on January 27th, which you can find on the official website here . The 192-page hardcover made in partnership with the developer Facepunch Studios was originally due on September 9th, but has since found itself slipping further and further back in the release schedule of the publisher. The reasons are again unknown, as the delays are not acknowledged and reported exclusively here when a change is noticed. Having written this article 6 times now, there is not to much to say that I haven't already, as no new information or previews are available for the book. We know that it will focus on concept art for the characters, costume designs, wildlife, weapons, vehicles, and environments of the first-person survival game and that it comes in the 9" x 12" hardcover format that Dark Horse commonly uses. Hopefully this will be the last delay for the book, which seems to be encountering some issues behind the scenes, but future updates will be shared here if there are more. A copy will also be joining the collection to be previewed and reviewed when it arrives next year. Those interested in The Art of Rust can pre-order it here for their own shelf; Tags; Based On: #Rust Publisher: #DarkHorse Studio: #FacepunchStudios #DoubleEleven
- 'The Art of Toy Story 5' Coming May 2026
September 16th 2025 Pixar are continuing their long running tradition of releasing an artbook for their movies next year with an entry for the upcoming Toy Story 5 . They are partnering again with Chronicle Books to deliver fans a look at the artwork for Buzz and Woody's return to the big screen in 2026. The Art of Toy Story 5 was spotted on retailer listings and currently has no cover art to show, but some details are available, including the release date of May 26th 2026. As expected, it will include character art, storyboards, colour scripts, and interviews throughout. The hardcover book is also noted to have 172 pages and retails at $50/£40. You may have noticed that the May 26th publication date is before the movie's current release of June 19th, which is unusual when most artbooks for movies and video games come between weeks and years after a release. This is normal for not just Pixar though, but also all Disney animation artbooks from Chronicle Books as seen with their recent releases, including The Art of Elio , The Art of Moana 2 , and The Art of Inside Out 2. If you are a Pixar fan but haven't checked out the artbooks before, you may find a lot to love inside as the visual style seen on-screen is also wonderfully displayed in the work of the artists. The sketches, colour keyframes, unused designs, storyboards, and location concepts all carry the charming aesthetics that make it into the movies. You can check out a flip through below of The Art of Elio to get an idea of what to expect. If you are feeling impatient and want some Toy Story on your shelf sooner, then there's good news as Disney/Pixar The Color of Toy Story: A 30th Anniversary Celebration of Colorscripts and Creativity is out September 23rd. This book boasts over 300 pages of artwork for the first four movies, taking readers through their stories with colour scripts and concept art. Whether you grew up with the movies, are a new and younger fan, it's a great time to be a lover of Toy Story, especially if have some space on your shelf. The books will also appeal to aspiring artists and people already working in the industry too, which is even mentioned in the description of the book. The artwork above was officially released by Pixar for Toy Story 5 and comes with a brief description of the movie ahead of more details and a trailer. It will focus on Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the toys as they are introduced to the modern day child and their new obsession in technology. This is no doubt a big release for the studio as Toy Story was not only the first full-length animated feature, but having come out in 1995, has spanned generations and is beloved by a huge audience, all of which will surely make the story hit home for many. It was inevitable that The Art of Toy Story 5 would be revealed at some point, but it's always good to get the confirmation and a copy will certainly be joining collection here too. If like me, you're a fan of Toy Story, then you can pre-order the book below; Tags; #ToyStory #Pixar #Disney #ChronicleBooks
- Cover Art Revealed for 'The Art of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach'
September 15th 2025 Titan Books has given the upcoming artbook for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach another update, this time revealing the final cover art ahead of its release later this year. The Art of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is being published in partnership with the game's developer Kojima Productions and was announced on the 26th of April. The last update gave us the release date of November 11th, but the only thing left to show was the cover, as up until now a placeholder was being used. The new cover has now been revealed as spotted on the website of Titan Books, but also now on retailer websites, and can be seen below. If you own the artbook for the original game, The Art of Death Stranding , you will notice that this cover is in keeping to that one with a similar design. The beach and deceased whales are used in both and even the rock formations are very similar, with the glaring difference being the glowing red servers found at the end of the game. The same gold lettering is also used, perhaps and indication the new book will also have golden gilded edged to the paper as seen before too. You can see the cover for the first artbook below for a comparison. The upcoming 256-page hardcover will feature the concept art and designs for the game, including artwork from the industry veteran Yoji Shinkawa who has worked with Director Kojima on multiple video games, which includes the Metal Gear Solid series. Expect to see the art for the characters, technology, locations, and the enemies of the game, with commentary throughout. The Art of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is available for pre-order for an RRP of $40/ £30, a fantastic price comparatively to others on the market. This should be the last update for the book ahead of its November 11th release, but be sure to check back here then for an in-depth review of the book. Those interested in adding a copy to their own shelf can pre-order the book below, as well as seeing a preview of the first book to give you an idea of what you will find in the follow up; Tags; Based On: #DeathStranding2OnTheBeach Series: #DeathStranding Publisher: #TitanBooks Studio: #KojimaProductions
- 'The Art of The Outer Worlds 2' Delayed One Week
September 15th 2025 The upcoming artbook for the highly anticipated release of The Outer Worlds 2 from Obsidian Entertainment has been given a delay. Fortunately it is only a short push and keeps its publication date in 2025. The Art of The Outer Worlds 2 is coming by way of Dark Horse Books and it was on their own website where this date change was spotted. Announced in June for release on December 16th, the 192-page hardcover is now coming on December 23rd 2025. No reason has been given for the delay, which isn't unusual, in fact, it's the case the the vast majority of schedule changes. These can happen for a myriad of reasons, including print issues, missing assets, scheduling changes, updates, and more. It's also the norm for an artbook to be pushed sadly and a huge portion of the stories on this site are for delays. Sticking to the original release date is the exception, not the rule, and not a problem limited to any one publisher either, it's just a reality of the artbook world. In this case though, the delay is very short, which is good news. Dark Horse is not only the publisher with the most video game artbook releases over the last few years, but also the partner for multiple Xbox Game Studios books too, which includes artbooks for Halo, Gears of War, DOOM, and the soon to be released book, Starfield Visual Compendium . The Art of the Outer Worlds 2 is being released in their standard format as a 9" x 12" hardcover, so you can expect a well made book with a great print quality. There's a reason so many game studios partner with Dark Horse, because their consistency makes them an easy choice as a go to for video game artbooks. Inside fans can expect a look at the concept art and deigns for the eccentric characters, mix of locations, sci-fi weapons, deadly enemies, and more for the RPG from the art team at Obsidian. As well as this, the team behind the game provides commentary to give additional insights for their world of Arcadia. The retro-futuristic visual design is perfectly suited for the artbook treatment and will no doubt be filled with a lot of fun artwork based on what we have seen in the game so far. With the game launching next month on October 29th, it's not too long of a wait to grab this upcoming book for people wanting more from The Outer Worlds 2 after taking on the megacorporations. With no artbook available to buy for the first game, this makes for an exciting opportunity for new fans and old to add some of the game's craziness to their shelf. The Art of The Outer Worlds 2 is available for pre-order now and those wanting to add it to their shelf can secure a copy here before its December 23rd release date; Tags; #TheOuterWorlds2 #ObsidianEntertainment #XboxGameStudios #DarkHorse

- Book Review - Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie
September 15th 2025 Back again with another artbook in their long running series, Marvel Studios are this time giving fans a look at the concept art behind Thunderbolts , aka The New Avengers . Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie dives into the team-up of some favourite ‘antiheroes’, as well as the introduction of new fan favourite Bob, and has now joined the collection here so I can give my thoughts on the latest book from the studio. Available anywhere you buy books, it was published by Marvel themselves on September 9 th , just four months after the movie was released, which is a quick turnaround for the studio as they continue to play catchup. As always the review will be broken down into 5 points; build quality, content, credits, use of space and value, covering everything you need to know before buying! Build Quality This is the fourth in the series to come with a slipcase and lithograph prints, offering a little more than just the hardcover book. The slipcase is the same matching size as the previous releases, coming in at 30cm x 27cm and is thick and sturdy, making it more than just decorative. This was a selling point of the books during the Infinity Saga and a welcome return, also coming with fantastic artwork in this case from Andy Park. The 29cm x 24.5cm book inside comes again with 224 pages, no surprise here, but it does include a better cover then their last two in this format, as it includes artwork on the front. The gloss paper inside isn’t as good as what you find in most artbooks as it is thinner, but it still feels decent in quality. Unfortunately, in this case the binding is a little tight and doesn’t always allow the pages to open fully, putting text and images on the awkward bend by the centre fold. It’s not the worst I’ve seen, but does have an impact on some pages. The book can be seen in the top centre below, with the 5 prints surrounding it. The lithograph prints again don’t do much for me personally, adding little value and not using art that takes up the full card. I’ve said before that they aren’t a huge step up from free giveaways at a local cinema, but at least this time the prints aren’t so dark they obscure the image detail. Some may like them, but it still very much feels like justification to set the RRP at $100 and that will always be a negative for the series while using this format. My copy also came with pages that have creases and marks that I was not impressed by. This is not due to handling, as the book is not damaged and neighbouring pages are fine. These were put into the book this way and it was clearly an oversight on the part of the team putting it together. It is unlikely to be the only copy like this, though there may only be a small handful, but it should have been picked up. Content This book comes with some nice surprises, as well as retuning highs and lows seen before from Marvel too. If you own previous entries to the series, you know what to expect for the most part with its costume exploration, location concepts, keyframes, and insights throughout from the team behind the film. This is what you buy the books for and you won’t be disappointed with what you find here. The art itself as expected highlights the incredible talent of the people that work on the MCU. As always, I’m not writing this to review critique artwork, but I’m a big fan of the artists ability to take costumes and characters from the comics and give them life for live-action. The location art is highly detailed and you can see how moments of the movie were shaped using the incredible keyframes too. I’m a long-time fan of Director of Visual Development Andy Park, as well as many of the other artists such as Wesley Burt and Aleksi Briclot, so it’s always nice to get more of their work on the shelf here. A highlight of the book and a return inclusion are storyboards in a handful of spots found throughout. These aren’t always used, but are hopefully going to be on ongoing feature now that they have been featured here and in Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World - The Art of the Movie . They also shine the spotlight on a handful sketches and earlier artwork too, as opposed to just the high detailed concepts we are used to seeing, which are welcome additions. There is a lot of costume design as expected for the returning faces, as well as for Sentry/ The Void which will be the big selling point for fans. It was really nice to see that Taskmaster gets 7 spreads of concepts, especially after her short appearance in the movie. It’s not the full redemption the character should have though, but it’s something. It was odd though that Taskmaster would get so many spreads, when John Walker gets just one. It is mentioned his suit didn’t change much, but I wasn’t expecting him to get so much less than everyone else. A surprise was that there is a lot more location art that I was expecting given that the movie isn’t using exotic or alien environments like you get in Guardians of the Galaxy. As the the movie’s focus is on the team, I was anticipating much more of a character art showcase, but I like that they balanced it out. There is less in the way of unused ideas as some previous artbooks though, you won’t find unused characters, cut ideas or a wealth of keyframes you that didn’t see on-screen. The unused material is in the early iterations of what was used, such as costumes, building designs, or most interestingly the tentacle exploration for The Void, all of which are still fun to see. I was hoping to see more for what could have been for Taskmaster before the role was cut back, but she was only in one unused keyframe outside of the costume concepts. The text is well written and has some nice insights into the art direction, plot and characters. It boasts interviews from the visual development team, director, actors and more, each giving details that fans will find engaging. This is another thing that Marvel have been consistently good at and is a strong point of the series. A negative though is the return of continued print quality problems that has been ongoing for a while now. Some of the art here would have been better off not included, as the same problem with dark clothing and backgrounds makes details hard to make out. The print quality overall is inconsistent, as some tones can also look saturated and aren’t clear when placed next to each other. Perhaps the thinner paper used is a factor in the printing process and finished product, but I cannot understand why this hasn’t been addressed by Marvel. With so many books affected, it seems they are happy with this quality and although it doesn’t affect as many pages this time, it’s not acceptable that it happens in multiple books sold at premium prices. They only have to look to the Titan Books rereleases of their older artbooks to realise that a much better print quality can be achieved. While I hope it improves, I’m not holding my breath with the issue being this far down the line. Examples can be seen below. Credits This part of the review could be written before the book even arrives, because the artists are always credited on each page and listed in the back too. It’s always done well and should be the artbook standard. Outstanding as always! Use of Space Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie highlights another strong and consistent part of their books with the page design. Everything is a good size, the layouts are well organised and the pages are filled. Although the days of the Infinity Saga books having higher page counts are long gone, they do make good use out of the capped 224 pages seen since then. Sadly, there is image loss due to parts being swallowed in the centre fold and this is made worse the tight binding mentioned before too. It again raises the point that the quality needs to be checked by the publishing team, as this should be avoided as much as possible. Image loss is a problem for many artbooks—though some publishers have begun to minimise or solve it—but there is certainly room for improvement here by allowing the backing material to flex more. Value The RRP price of $100/ £89.99 is going to be a repeat problem for these releases, which acts as a barrier to entry for potential buyers. Like before, while the quality of the artwork is great, the presentation problems it comes with, the 224 page cap, and poor lithograph prints make that a tough sell. I’m repeating myself again for these Marvel artbooks, but the jump from $60 to $100 for the slipcase and prints is just too much and not remotely competitive to other publishers like Dark Horse, Titan Books, and others, at full price, each offering a better build quality and print results at lower prices. As always though, it’s worth noting that these books can be found discounted fairly quickly and shopping around might help you avoid the high price. For example, Amazon UK already has the book on sale at the time of writing this at 38% off. They come down in price quickly, likely an indication they are aware of the sticker shock. A conspiracy theorist might say that this was the plan all along! Verdict Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts: The Art of the Movie is your standard Marvel artbook, a wonderful showcase of character, location, and keyframe art, which is not a bad thing and great if you’re an MCU fan and enjoy this series. It does have some print issues and you don’t get as many unused goodies, but the biggest issue here continues to be value for money. It’s a hard book to recommend unless you can either find a reasonable deal or you’re fortunate enough to have Tony Stark money. Unless you are feeling less like Bob and more like The Void without this on your shelf, I’d wait for a price reduction. - Flip Through - The Art of Titanfall
September 12th 2025 Another preview is available on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel, this time headed back to 2014 with The Art of Titanfall ! Titan Books partnered with Respawn Entertainment to give fans of the series a look behind the curtain at the concept art for the multiplayer shooter, perfect for players wanting to see the origin of the world that was expanded in not just a sequel, but the royale-hero shooter Apex Legends too. Inside there is a look at the Titans themselves, the pilots, creatures, technology, weapons, environments, and more, all with insights and a wealth of unused designs and ideas. The 192-page book was released on February 25th 2014, a couple of weeks before Titanfall launched. Titanfall is a fast-paced first-person shooter that has players take control of Pilots, highly mobile soldiers that are able to get around the maps with parkour and gadgets. Through each online match, the Pilots can call down their Titan, huge mechs that they jump into and control, allowing them to deal a large amount of damage to other players on foot, or other Titans that have entered the map. The game was multiplayer only and a console exclusive to Xbox, but both of these things changed with Titanfall 2 , which also released on PlayStation and brought in a single-player campaign. Check out the preview above and visit the YouTube channel to discover more artbook previews.
