Lost in Cult are back with another deep dive into unique and beloved games, this time sharing a look at Terraria from Re-Logic. After revealing the book on social media, Terraria: Design Works is now available to pre-order for those wanting a peak behind the curtain at the 2D sandbox hit.

The 200+ page book shares a look at the games development, from its inception to the release in 2011, as well as the many updates the game has received in its 15 years of growth. Through interviews with the team and a look at documents and artwork, this is the best look at the game yet and available to pre-order on the Lost in Cult website.

Terraria: Design Works will begin shipping in early 2027 for players wanting a look at the creation of the procedural world, also featuring a huge amount of artwork and in-game visuals. The many years of development and updates for the popular game are shared by author Christian Donlan and his interviews with the team, including its creator Andrew Spinks.

It comes as a softcover that is printed on holographic foil and has approximately 200 pages, what we have come to expect from the Design Works series, giving plenty of content to get lost in and enjoy. You can see some page previews of the book below to get an idea of what to expect.

As always with the Design Works series, there is a Deluxe Edition available for those wanting some extra goodies. The standard edition and Terraria: Design Works Deluxe Edition can both be ordered now, but the latter can only be pre-ordered until July 31st 2026 and includes the following;

  • Book slipcase

  • Presentation box

  • Bestiary Blitz! card game

  • Paper theatre

  • Pin badge set

  • 9 biome postcards

  • A holographic bookmark

A signed edition is also available and limited to 1,000 copies.

Terraria is a critically acclaimed 2D adventure game from Re-Logic that combines exploration, crafting, building, and combat, all within a procedurally generated world. First released on May 16, 2011, it won fans over with it survival mechanics and creative freedom, whether played solo and with friends. Terraria has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide across PC, console, and mobile, a huge number that makes it one of the best-selling games of all time. 15 years on, it still has 25,000–35,000 concurrent players on Steam, an impressive feat for any game, let alone a small studio with around a dozen people in its team.

A trailer for Terraria: Design Works can be seen below that was posted on YouTube.

The last reveal from Lost in Cult also revealed Faith: Design Works in late April, with more expected in the future as the series remains extremely popular. To get an idea of what to expect, you can read my review of Ultros: Design Works Deluxe Edition.
