'Rain World: Design Works' Celebrates the Survival-Platformer's 10th Anniversary

The Design Works series from Lost in Cult continues with another new entry, giving fans of the indie hit game Rain World a deep dive into its history. Made in partnership with Akupara Games and the developer Videocult, Rain World: Design Works will be a celebration of the game's 10th anniversary when it releases in late 2027.
The book comes as a hardcover with over 200 pages, giving players a lot of insights and images to get lost in as they discover secrets of the "slugcats" world. The duo behind Videocult, Joar Jakobsson and James Therrien, are working with the book publisher and author Grace Benfell to help deliver a comprehensive look at the Rain World's development. Upon being announced, pre-orders went live and can be found on the Lost in Cult website.
Rain World: Design Works will guide fans through the creation of the survival-platfomer, including its earliest builds and the Kickstarter campaign, right the way through to the community it grew post-release. As shared in the page previews, there will be wonderful illustrations and in-game screenshots too, delivering a balance of content the Design Works series is known for.

Rain World is a survival platformer developed by Videocult and published by Adult Swim Games and Akupara Games. Released in March 2017, the game has players control a "slugcat" as you look to navigate a post-apocalyptic world after a flood. To reunite with your family, you must avoid deadly creatures, traverse the environments, and explore each area. The hand-drawn pixel art is a highlight to many players, as well as its tough difficulty, getting people hooked on both the visuals and gameplay loop.
