Aang and the gang make a big return later this year in a new animated movie, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, to the delight of fans that fell in love with the world and characters when the original series debuted in 2005. Ahead of the release, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender: The Art of the Movie has been listed online to share a look at the art that helped create it.

The listings seemingly appeared at least a couple of days ago (May 9th) and shared on Reddit, but has since been noticed and shared by more fans. Abram Books is the publisher and a product page is live on their website, confirming its release date of November 10th 2026, but no cover art is currently available.
It's listed as a 256-page hardcover at $50 with a Deluxe Edition also being available for $100, as seen on Amazon, although it is unclear what this will include. The official description highlighting what it will include is as follows;
"Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender: The Art of the Movie brings fans back to the beloved and massively successful universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender with an exclusive look at the film, revealing the creative process behind bringing Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko back into action.
Featuring never-before-seen concept art, character designs, and new locations, the book delves into the evolution of the characters, with new threats and new hybrid creatures.
With insights from co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, director Lauren Montgomery and the extended animation team, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender: The Art of the Movie celebrates the film’s humor, spirit, and innovative techniques―especially its stunning blend of 2D and CG animation styles never before seen from a Western studio, making it the quintessential companion for fans eager to experience the next chapter in the Avatar saga."

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender: The Art of the Movie isn't a surprise announcement, many animated movies get the artbook treatment and one for a movie that will certainly be hugely popular is expected. What is interesting is the choice of publisher, as those that are fans of The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra will know that they each received artbooks from Dark Horse Books, including second editions. While Dark Horse do artbooks for animated shows, they don't cover movies, which may be the reason for not using them this time round.
The lack of a cover is common for Abrams Books, who often release them close to release, as seen recently with The Art of Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, that had its cover revealed just week from its release. The $50 price tag is what we come to expect these days as well for a book at this size, but what will be included in the Deluxe Edition will determine if paying double the price is worth it to dedicated fans. Previous Deluxe Editions have included prints, sketchbooks, presentation boxes, and more, so this could be a great option for collectors.

The book arrives just a month after the movie will premier on Paramount+ on October 9th, making it a timely release for fans. A copy of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender: The Art of the Movie will join the collection here as well when it arrives on November 10th to be reviewed, and future updates on the book will be shared here.
