The Artbook Collector YouTube channel shares a preview of another new release this week, and this time for the first standalone artbook from one of the biggest series in all of entertainment. Look back at 15 years of releases with Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies: The Art of Treyarch!
This huge hardcover was published on August 11th, 2026 by Insight Editions (Titan Books in the UK), made in partnership with the team behind Zombies, Treyarch. It looks back at the inception and growth of the popular game mode, from its debut in Call of Duty: World at War in 2018 to Black Ops 6. Check out a preview below.
Across its 336 pages you will find concept art for the zombies, maps, weapons, traps, perks, characters, and more, offering a wide variety of artwork that shows how the game mode expanded over time. Alongside this are interviews with the creative leads that dive into the making of the games, including the original idea and the approach to how they changed each new entry. It's a very comprehensive look at Zombies that is perfect for old players and new.
I gave the book a glowing review, praising not only the artwork and interviews, but also the presentation, which does well to fit in an incredible amount of content. The book is well-made too, the print quality is excellent and the binding removes image loss in the centre fold, which is impressive given how thick the book is. Call of Duty’s Zombies mode is a co-op survival mode originally released alongsie Call of Duty: World at War in 2008. It saw players face increasingly difficult waves of zombies that earned points to unlock new areas and weapons. It became a part of many Treyarch releases in the series, growing over time to include large maps, characters, storylines, hidden Easter Eggs, new mechanics, and more. From a simple hidden game mode, it has become a staple of Call of Duty that is a favourite part for many of the millions of players that enjoy the series. Being the most creative and unique mode of Call of Duty makes it perfectly suited to getting the artbook treatment, which has been executed brilliantly.
