Video Preview - The Art and Making of Gears of War: E-Day
October 16th 2026
This week on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel is the new artbook for the return of Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago in, The Art and Making of Gears of War: E-Day!
The Coalition and Insight Editions partnered to give players a look at the development history, artwork, and renders behind the prequel game Gears of War: E-Day. It was released on October 6th, 2026, the same day as the launch of the game itself, coming as a large hardcover with 256-pages for fans to dive into. Check out a preview of the book below.
The book documents the making of the game, from the decision to make a prequel and not 'Gears of War 6', through to its use of technology and music. As well as this, there is a lot of in-game lore about the characters and world of Sera that gets taken over by the Locust Horde.
The images inside are a mixture of 2D and 3D concepts, final renders, screenshots, and graphic design, giving the art teams a great showcase for what has become one of the most visually impressive games ever released. Just like the game, a lot of gore and horror is captured in the designs, which would no doubt have Marcus shouting "Nice!".

In my review I praised how much was shared through the written details and interviews, as well as the variety of visual material curated for the volume. However, the book design is let down by the binding, which offers no flexibility and creates a lot of image loss in the centre fold. Gears of War: E-Day is a third-person shooter from The Coalition that launched on October 6, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S and PC. The seventh game in the mainline series takes fans back to 14 years before the original Gears of War and the day the Locust Horse crawled out of the ground. Players once again take control of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as they take on the new threat that leans back into its horror origins. Co-op is also featured again for the campaign, as well as multiplayer modes where you team-up with or take on others.
