Upcoming Artbooks: October 2026

The busy month of September has come to an end, but 2026 isn't done with artbooks yet as we enter October. There are 6 big releases to keep an eye out for, with the month serving gamers well with some exciting new titles.
6th - The Art of Wildwood
Laika is back with another stop-motion feature, showing what hand-crafted magic looks like once again. Wildwood is looking fantastic, bringing the dark fantasy story to the big screen on October 23rd. Interestingly, the The Art of Wildwood arrives ahead of the movie to share a look at the concepts and designs behind the strange forest and characters, including photos and insights behind the model making. The 176-page hardcover from publisher Rizzoli Universe is the perfect way to start October.
6th - The Art and Making of Gears of War: E-Day
The Coalition is sharing a look at another entry in the Gear of War series with Insight Editions, giving players the chance to dive into the artwork and development insights behind Emergence Day. Across 256-pages of artwork and interviews, The Art and Making of Gears of War: E-Day will collect a look at the characters, Locust, environments, weapons, and more, giving readers the chance to take a more relaxed look at the Gears of War: E-Day's world after cutting enemies in half with your lancer.
8th - Outer Wilds: Design Works (UK)

After an exclusive release from publisher Lost in Cult, Outer Wilds: Design Works is getting a wider release through Expanse, coming with new cover art. The original book was superb, sharing the artwork from Mobius Digital for the unique solar system of the game and its inhabitants. Author Chris Schilling also guides you through the development history, which includes a lot of interviews with the creative minds behind the indie darling.
The book will make you want to jump back in for some more exploration in time looping world all over again. I reviewed the original release and gave it high praise, so this one comes highly recommended. Read that review here; Book Review - Outer Wilds: Design Works.
27th - From Comic to Screen: The Art of Supergirl
DC Comics and Studios are joining forces for an interesting approach to an artbook, combining the art behind the recent movie Supergirl, and the comic that inspired it, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
From Comic to Screen: The Art of Supergirl shares the work of the artists along with interviews, giving readers the chance to see the early origins of the story on the page, to the space travelling movie across the 224 pages found inside.
