Capcom have been on an impressive run of releases over a number of years now, with their new IP Pragmata adding to the hits in their catalogue. There will soon be a new way to enjoy its world, because The Art of Pragmata: Lunar Echoes is making its way to Japan courtesy of publisher Kadokawa. This announcement could potentially signal a future release for fans in the West as well.

Revealed last Friday via Pragmata's Japanese X account, the 240-page softcover book will share a look at the artwork behind Hugh and Diana's story, exploring The Cradle and it's not so friendly robot enemies. It will feature concept art, image boards, storyboards, and the dialogue and texts found in the game, making it the perfect companion to jump into when the credits roll.

The book is set for release on December 2nd, 2026 in Japanese and can be pre-ordered now. Of course, this doesn't help those in the West that don't speak Japanese, but fortuntely there is a long history of artbooks from Kadokawa getting translated later on. Especially in the case of this publisher, American company Udon Entertainment often release hardcover English editions later on, but the wait times for this can vary dramatically.

In the case of books like Elden Ring Official Art Book Volume III, it can take just over a year between the Japanese Kadokawa book and Udon's release, even after delays. But in the case of others, they don't come so hastily, as seen with The Art of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which took 3 years to get its translated edition from the publisher.

In the even it doesn't come from the usual suspect in Udon, it can still take a while to arrive in English. Dark Horse recently announced The Art of Splatoon 3, which is also an translated book from the Kadowawa original that was released March 2023, but this doesn't arrive until December of this year, well over 3 years later. Why the books take so long is unknown, as they retain the same content, but it could come down to licensing, legal teams, and scheduling. This all means we could get an English version next year, or as late as 2030, but fingers crossed Capcom doesn't waste time and potentially reduce sales with a longer wait time.

Regardless of the wait time, the announcement of The Art of Pragmata: Lunar Echoes in Japan is a good sign that there will also be a Western release too. The game is another visual powerhouse from Capcom with a lot of interesting robot and environment designs, all of which very likely have some interesting concepts behind them to pore over in the new book.

For those that haven't played the game, Pragmata is a sci-fi action game developed and published by Capcom that was released on April 17th 2026. The story follow astronaut Hugh Williams and an android of a young girl called Diana, who together must survive an AI and escape a lunar base and the robots inside. It's a third-person shooter that integrates hacking and puzzle soling, even during combat. It was a hit with critics and players, going on to sell over a million units in the first two days, and over 2.5 million by September 2026. All of this makes the artbook a very enticing addition to the shelf for many of the people that enjoyed the game.

Future news and updates on the book will be shared here, and for those interested in the Japanese edition of The Art of Pragmata: Lunar Echoes, you can order the book here;
