Splatoon is a series full of colour, style, and of course, ink, making it perfectly suited to share more on the printed page with their artbooks. Now fans in the West can soon enjoy some of the artwork, because it's been revealed that The Art of Splatoon 3 is being translated into English later this year.

Announced today by publisher Dark Horse, the 400-page book has been confirmed to be getting an English edition that arrives on December 1st, 2026. Not only this, but unlike the Japanese original, this will be coming as a hardcover, which is much more ideal for the long-term preservation of the book. The Kadokawa published version was released in March 2023, so it has been a long wait for patient fans in the West, but they will soon be able to enjoy the artwork behind Splatoon 3.
Inside are illustrations and concepts for the characters, maps, weapons, comics, storyboards, and more, making this the perfect companion to the game. The world of Splatoon is vibrant and playful, making it ideal to get the artbook treatment, as it has done for the previous two games as well. Nintendo don't give their games artbook, despite their many popular series, with the many books that they do work on coming as compendiums, guides, lore books, and more. Splatoon getting its third 'Art of' book is a testament to the work the art team puts into the series, and how much it is enjoyed by fans.
Splatoon 3 is a third-person shooter developed by Nintendo and originally released on the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. Players head to the Splatlands, where the Inklings and Octolings take each other on by competing to control each map, acheived by spraying ink and completing objectives. The single-player and multiplayer modes use new weapons and mechanics to build on the series, helping to make it a huge success. Splatoon 3 has since gone on to sell millions of copies, with the last count coming in at 11.96 million in 2024. The popularity of the series worldwide makes this artbook very appealing to the English speakers looking to dive back in for more.
Retail listings are beginning to go live following the announcement and the book will have an RRP of $59.99 in the US, with prices elsewhere to be revealed. Those interested in The Art of Splatoon 3 can add the book to their wishlist below, ahead of pre-orders going live for the December 1st release date.
