'The Art of Windblown' Leaps into the Art Behind the Roguelike in 2027

Dark Horse is back with another artbook reveal in the video game space, this time partnering with developer Motion Twin to share a look at the art behind their latest release, Windblown. Players of the action rogulike wanting more from its world will be able to jump into the colourful visuals of the game when The Art of Windblown arrives in 2027.
The 120-page hardcover volume was announced today on social media by Dark Horse, who have made the book available to pre-order at Dark Horse Direct. It comes with an RRP of $29.99 in the US, though it can currently be ordered for $24.99, and is expected to arrive in January - February 2027. While there is no set date, it is good to see that those ordering from the publisher directly can grab an early discount.
The book itself will share the artwork behind the colourful and vibrant world of the Leapers, giving players the chance to see their early designs, as well as those for the locations, enemies, weapons, storyboards, and more. This is good timing too, as Windblown is expected to come out of Early Access and get its official release this year, so the wait is short for older fans and the many new ones jumping in after that launch.
Motion Twin's last game was the hugely popular Dead Cells, so there will be a lot of players excited for their new roguelike when it gets the full release. Dark Horse is the perfect partner for this peak behind the curtain too, as they have a long history with video game artbooks and a great reputation for producing quality releases. It's usually AAA games that get the artbook treatment, but they also recently released Marvel Cosmic Invasion: The Art of the Game, another smaller 120-page hardcover that was fantastic (Review), so they are a great partner for giving Windblown a worthy art showcase.
For those that don't know, Windblown is a roguelike from Motion Twin that entered Early Access in October 2024. The developer kept their action focused gameplay from Dead Cells and moved into the 3D isometric space, where the players play as Leapers that take on enemy robots on floating islands found in The Vortex. It can be played with up to three players and its levels are procedurally generated, so no playthrough is the same. The visuals were well received by fans, elevating the fast-paced combat and movement, making it perfect for an artbook.
