'Legend of Mana: The Art of Mana—30th Anniversary Edition' Coming in 2026

Dark Horse Books have revealed that they have partnered with Square Enix to publish a look at the artwork behind Legend of Mana in English for the first time. This new book, Legend of Mana: The Art of Mana—30th Anniversary Edition, is set to arrive next year, following the Japanese release earlier this summer.
With a publication date of July 28th 2026, this 80-page, 8.5” x 12” hardcover will showcase the art for the game's original release in 1999. Inside fans will get to look at the art and designs behind the locations, pixel characters, artifacts, bosses, and more.
It will also boast new artwork created exclusive for this release by Yukata koyama, Shinichi Kamoeka, Masaki Takahashi, HACCAN, and Kanta Kamei. This makes it the perfect book for those that love the roleplaying game and want more from its world. The book has begun appearing on retailer websites and has an RRP of $29.99.
If you're a stickler for numbers and dates as I can be, you may have noticed that calling it Legend of Mana: The Art of Mana--30th Anniversary Edition is a bit pre-emptive. In researching for this story, I have found that the Mana series is 34 years old, yet Legend of Mana is 26 (25 in the US having been released June 6th 2000). Some artbooks are done for anniversaries and launch up to a year either side of the celebratory date. However, most don't highlight that in the title, making them timeless.
It is certainly being pedantic, but that's not the case here and the Japanese version was released in June of 2025—its 26th anniversary. I'd have thought it would be swung to mark the big 25, but this release is doing a big round up to the 30th anniversary. It of course has no bearing on the quality of the book and only nerds like me will notice this, but having seen other reporting, found it odd it hadn't at least been mentioned. Regardless of whether it's to celebrate 5 years, or 100, those that love Legend of Mana will no doubt have their eye on this release for the classic title.
Legend of Mana is a high fantasy action RPG release on the original PlayStation in 1999 by Square (now Square Enix). Players are tasked with restoring the land of Fa’Diel after it was shattered into Artifacts of Mana. It's a non-linear game that allows flexibility in the quest order as you unlock new weapons, characters and regions of it world. It's real-time combat, highly-praised soundtrack, and stunning pixel art and painted backgrounds, came together to win over players when it first launched. It was rereleased with a HD update in 2021 for modern console, PC, and mobile too, allowing more players to discover the game.
