Back in 2021, Future Press released a look at the artwork and development insights behind Remedy's critical hit game, Control. It didn't take long for 'The Art & Making of Control' to sell out though, making it a book that many have been hoping would make a return in the years since. That news came today as a reprint has been revealed and can already be ordered to celebrate the book publisher's 25th anniversary.

The Art & Making of Control features 384 pages of artwork and renders for the paranormal action title, covering the base game and both expansions, Foundation and AWE. It comes in a slipcase too, along with a folder of 3 Art Cards, the kind of features typically found in special editions. Through the insights and visuals from the team at Remedy, readers can get lost in the Oldest House once again, as well as the characters, weapons, Hiss, VFX, and more. It's the ultimate companion to the game and became highly sought after for its quality and rarity.

The announcement came on social media, where the publisher acknowledged that the original 2021 book was out of print shortly after release and has been highly requested by fans since. This came as great news to many and the book was immediately available to order on Future Press' website, but this is where the problems begin.

The website became overwhelmed with traffic and failed to load, causing error pages and crashes. I can speak to this first hand as I spent almost 4 hours with pages not working, PayPal failing to load, and the checkout stuck trying to calculate the shipping cost, only for it to say the book was no longer available. Others faired better and managed to get copies secured after the long wait times.

Future Press did post on social media and say they had enough stock for orders throughout the week and to try again tomorrow, but the launch has been more than a little frustrating for many trying to get a copy. This was mixed messaging though, as when announcing the book they stated,"...we’re delighted to give more fans of Control the chance to own it. This is a limited reprint though, so it might not last very long.". It's clear that interested fans will want to act fast to order copies as they become available again throughout the week, before the book sells out and can only be bought for very high prices on second-hand markets again.

Control is a supernatural action game from Remedy Entertainment, that follows Jesse Faden as she explored the surreal building the Oldest House, the location of Federal Bureau of Control. The shape-shifting building is full of the Hiss, a mysterious and deadly force she must take on while searching for her brother.

The game was praised for its third-person action that combines weapons with telekinetic abilities, alongside its unique approach to storytelling. Control went on to sell over 5 million copies worldwide by 2025 and was a critical success. A sequel, Control Resonant, is due out sometime in 2026.
