Sad news has struck for Star Wars Outlaws players outside of American territories hoping to get hold of the artbook this summer, as The Art of Star Wars Outlaws will not be available to buy from local retailers.
As I often do, I was looking for the best price on the upcoming artbook from Dark Horse and Massive Entertainment, but found that most book sellers have no available listing. Having contacted a retailer to enquire about this release, the response was that the book will not be sold in the UK.
This has since been confirmed with Dark Horse themselves via email, who informed me that they do not have the license to sell or even ship Star Wars comics to the UK and that likely extends to all publications from them for the franchise, including Star Wars artbooks. They have not let me know at the time of writing this about other countries affected.
I have also checked Amazon sites for Europe and some have no listing for the book at all. The German site has it as being sold through Amazon themselves, with no third party sellers matching the location. In Italy it is simply unavailable, indicating this isn't restricted to the UK.
The Japanese Amazon store also has it as unavailable. Canada may also be in a similar situation, as I could not find listings on retailer websites outside of Amazon.

Although some countries do have listings on Amazon, I could not confirm what would happen if you placed an order with them. It may become an import order by default, or the order could be cancelled, but I'm unfamiliar with how this would work, only able to say that some regions do give you the option to place an order.
The Art of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, that was released in 2024, also wasn't available outside of the US at launch due to licensing issues. Because of this, my order of that book here in the UK was cancelled and I had to import it. Some copies became available online at a later date, but not from known stores such as WH Smith and Waterstones, but rather third party sellers through other websites who may also import the book.
All these signs seem to indicate that The Art of Star Wars Outlaws is restricted to America due to the deal between Lucas Film and Dark Horse. This will no doubt be highly frustrating for fans hoping to add the book to their collection using their go to retailer. Fortunately for some players with access to sites like Amazon and Ebay, importing books isn't too difficult and can even be cheap or free in some instances.
This licensing deal must have come in during the last 6 years as The Art of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which was released in 2019 by Dark Horse, was not restricted and is held by UK retailers. This is true for other European countries I have checked too, so this wasn't always the case. Abrams Books are able to sell their Star Wars artbooks for the movies and shows worldwide, highlighting that this arrangement is just with Dark Horse.
The book will still be joining the collection here when it is released August 19th, one I'm looking forward to as Star Wars has a strong legacy of quality artbooks for its movies, shows, animation and video games. Star Wars Outlaws also has a lot to offer for an artbook, with a look at concept art for new characters, ships, weapons, and both familiar and unfamiliar locations too, giving it the potential to be a superb companion to the open world game.
If the situation changes, I will share the news here. If you are outside the US and can confirm you can order the book, please reach out so I can update the story. For those interested in ordering The Art of Star Wars Outlaws, you can do so below;
