Fun Dog Studios' online co-op shooter The Forever Winter has seen players fight to survive its grim world of machines since its launch in early access in September of 2024. Later this year there will be a new way to experience the game, with a look at the work of the artists behind it in The Art of The Forever Winter.

The news was shared in a trailer on YouTube by the developer today, revealing that the upcoming release comes by way of Dark Horse Books, the publisher behind dozens of video game artbooks, putting it in very safe hands. It will come as a 208-page hardcover with a slipcase, with a publication date of December 1st 2026. A slipcase isn't often included with Dark Horse release, making this a nice addition to the book, while still coming in their standard 9" x 12" format. Listings should begin appearing soon and it will have an RRP of $59.99, as seen on the website of the publisher.
The Art of The Forever Winter will include artwork and commentary from the creatives behind the game, giving those that have braved the tactical horror the chance to pore over the world they have had to survive. It features both artwork and 3D models for the locations, weapons, gear, characters, deadly enemies, and more, all alongside the artists' insights. Watch the book trailer below, which also includes an announcement for an OST.
In the video the developer says the following;
"...we've been building something else, the artbook. Not as a recap, but as a record. Years of ideas, false starts, iterations, worlds we tore down and rebuilt, until they felt right."
This gives fans an insight as to what to expect, because not all artbooks go as far as to include the early game ideas that didn't go forward, especially 'false starts'. The artwork is looking fantastic too, with the pages packed with images, and although it states they are subject to change, the approach seen here is excellent. It's looking like a fantastic addition to the shelves of players and art fans that want to jump into a volume of dark post-apocalyptic sci-fi. Check out some pf the preview pages shown below.

The Forever Winter is a grim, atmospheric shooter set in a war-torn world in which factions wage an endless, mechanized conflict. Players must scavenge resources to survive on the battlefield, avoiding towering war machines and other enemies in its bleak landscapes. It combines stealth and survival over direct combat, creating an immersive shooter that brings the tension when things go wrong.
The game is still in early access, which makes an artbook release unusual, but it will no doubt excite those that have been enjoying their time playing it. Future updates will be reported here as they happen and be sure to keep an eye out for retailer listings of the book following its announcement today.
