This week on The Artbook Collector YouTube is a look at the latest artbook from Dark Horse, The Art of Borderlands 4!

Gearbox Software are back again with another look at the Borderlands universe, this time for the fourth entry in the mainline series. The 224-page hardcover was published on October 7th and features the early art and designs for the characters, enemies, weapons, vehicles, and locations of the game, highlighting the work of the artists and how they created the new world of Kairos.

The Art of Borderlands 4 also comes with interviews from the team at Gearbox with insights on their approach to the designs of the character and world, adding an additional peak behind the curtain of the looter-shooter. It's an interesting book to go through and highlights that the art style you see on screen isn't required in the concept art, as there are a variety shown across its pages.

I have also written an in-depth review of the book with my thoughts on why it is worth of being added to your inventory, which you can read here; Book Review - The Art of Borderlands 4.

Previous artbooks for Borderlands includes The Art of Borderlands 2 from BradyGames, The Art of Borderlands 3 from Titan Books, and the first book from Dark Horse, The Art of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands for the spin-off. This is now the fourth artbook for the series, with hopefully more to come for future entries.

Borderlands 4 launched on September 12th 2025, just a month before before the release of this book, which is always welcome. The game continues looter-shooter gameplay on the new planet Kairos, ruled of a tyrant known as the Timekeeper. Again introducing four new Vault Hunters to play as, you enter the open world and take on missions and enemies with more chaos and eccentric characters, as well as the huge number of guns the series is known for. It added new movement mechanics to navigate its larger open world too, while maintaining the same visuals and style that won players over back in 2009.
