The upcoming look at the art behind Critical Role's tabletop RPG is hitting shelves in March 2027, but just one detail was left to reveal, the cover. After two previous placeholders, the final artwork has now been unveiled for The Art and Making of Daggerheart.

Shared on retailer listings and now the website of publisher Titan Books, the above cover art is what players of Daggerheart will be greeted with before poring over the artwork of its fantasy world found inside. This is a fantastic image for the cover, and although I also liked the last placeholder, the vibrant purples and oranges in this final piece will really make it stand out on a shelf and if perfect for grabbing attention.

The 256-page hardcover is set to release on March 2nd, 2027 from Insight Editions, with Titan Books acting as publisher elsewhere. It was originally listed last year, seemingly in error, as it was promptly removed after my reporting. It officially reappeared in June with a new placeholder cover and was followed by pre-orders going live for fans to secure a copy for their collection. You can see the previous placeholder covers for the book below, with the original on the left, and the last cover on the right.

The Art and Making of Daggerheart will share how the game from Darrington Press (an imprint of Critical Role) was created, guided by author Kelly Knox, as well as featuring the concept artwork for the heroes, classes, creatures, and more. Expect stunning fantasy art and detailed interviews from the creators throughout. Previews have also been shared online as well, giving us a peak at what we can expect inside, as seen below.

Daggerheart was released in 2025 and combines a dice role-playing game with cards, creating a strategic tabletop game. It is in the cards and rulebook where players can find the artwork, which will be explored in the new artbook when it releases next year. Check out the release trailer for the game here;

Future changes or updates for The Art and Making of Daggerheart will be shared as they happen, and those interested can pre-order the book here;
