Update June 16th 5.02pm

The Art and Making of Daggerheart has a listing on Insight Editions own website for release in the US and Canada with an RRP of $50 and a release date of March 2nd 2027.

Original story below.

Last November, an artbook listing appeared online for the tabletop game Daggerheart, but was largely missed by fans and outlets because it was an early listing that shouldn't have been public at the time. The book from Critical Role and Titan Books was reported on this site before it was taken down (found here), but now The Art and Making of Daggerheart has returned with new details!

The Art and Making of Daggerheart

The book was again spotted on the website of publisher Titan Books with the above placeholder cover art and a release date of March 2nd 2027. The last time the book appeared, it was showing as coming a couple of days later, but as the 2nd is a Tuesday, the day almost all artbooks hit shelves, this new one makes a lot more sense.

Previously, some sites had it listed as coming from Insight Editions outside of the UK as well, but there is no sign of that this time. However, Titan Books only has a UK price, which is a reason to believe that will still be the case. The ISBN number has changed too, and when searching using this, you can find listings for the book on various websites under the title 'N/A', including on Amazon UK, which could imply that this is another pre-emptive early listing. Whether this is the case or not will be confirmed by it being taken down again, or by more retailers making the details public.

Above you can see the cover art shared for the The Art and Making of Daggerheart when it appeared last year and the new cover beside it. The previous version had no marker on it to say it wasn't the final artwork, but that is the case in the new version, so it will be interesting to see if it reverts back, or if there will be a third reveal before its release next year.

As for what is inside, the 256-page hardcover will highlight how the game from Darrington Press (an imprint of Critical Role) came together and showcase the concept artwork behind its heroes, classes, and creatures. It is now listed as being authored by Kelly Knox, not Carlos Cisco, and will include interviews with the minds behind the role-playing experience, making it a great companion to Daggerheart. The UK pricing is £39.99, with other regions likely to be confirmed as listings go live.

Daggerheart was released in May 2025 and combines role-playing elements with dice and cards, making it a game that makes use of tactics. Players us dice to roll for Hope and Fear, affecting either the players or Game Master, using all these elements and the book to help create the story and guide players through it. The cards and rulebook are where you will find the spectacular illustrations of its world and inhabitants, something that lends itself to an artbook release.

The Art and Making of Daggerheart is an exciting book for fans and is unique in that tabletop games very rarely get the artbook treatment. Most commonly, artwork is found in rulebooks and guides, especially in the case of games like Warhammer 40,000, so a dedicated artbook like this is very interesting.

Future updates will be shared here as they happen, and those interested in the UK can wishlist the book below, with other regions expected to have listings ahead of its March 2027 release.
