This week on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel we head back to a 2015 release with a collection of artwork for the iconic World of Warcraft from Blizzard Entertainment!
The Art of World of Warcraft from publisher Insight Editions was released on June 16th 2015 as an oversized hardcover with 224 pages of concept art and illustrations. The book is harder to come by now, with second-hand copies going into triple digits depending on your location, but bargain hunters can find deals and imports with a little patience and luck. Blizzard have always done incredible artwork and that was no different for the MMORPG, as seen in the preview below!
As you can see in the video, the bold colours and style of the art for World of Warcraft makes for a great showcase, highlighting the talent of the team at the studio. It covers the base game and multiple expansions, creating a great look at the game's journey up to 2015 when the book released. Inside, the pages use reflective gold ink that adds a premium feel when flipping though and is a thoughtful touch (although it's not the most camera friendly for a video!).
World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that was released in 2004 and continues to be hugely successful more than 20 years later. It's set in the fantasy world of Azeroth, where players create a character and complete quests, explore environments, and interact with other players. There are a huge number of stories told while playing, weaving the narrative of its rival factions, the Alliance and the Horde. Combining leveling, combat, crafting, dungeons, raids, and more, fans will find a huge amount to do in World of Warcraft and its expansions, with Midnight being the latest that released in 2026.
