The Artbook Collector YouTube channel looks back to 2014 this week, showcasing a preview of iconic video games in The Art of Naughty Dog!

Published by Dark Horse ahead of the release of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, this 184-page hardcover takes readers through the history of Naughty Dog and the art that helped create some of the biggest names in video games. Inside, concept art and illustrations can be found for Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, Uncharted, and The Last of Us.

The concept art covers all of the series' releases from the studio, including Crash Team Racing, Jak X: Combat Racing, and the DLC of The Last of Us, Left Behind. From the earliest concept art for the characters and environments, to key art and illustrations, it's a showcase of the work of the artists that have worked on the games.

Most interestingly, there is a chapter of unreleased games too, with a fascinating look at Jak 4 and a collection of concept art for an unreleased sci-fi game. It ends with a look at some art for the fourth Uncharted game and finally a curation of fan art too.

Naughty Dog is a multiple award-winning game studio that is now part of the PlayStation Studios family. They started in 1984 and became a well-known name in the 1990's with the release of Crash Bandicoot on the original PlayStation. Not sticking to just one winning franchise, they moved on to Jak and Daxter on PS2, then to Uncharted on PS3, maturing with each new IP they released. They ended the PS3 era with The Last of Us, their most critically acclaimed game that has since had a sequel, a remaster, a remake, DLC, and a TV show. Naughty Dog are now known for their storytelling and high visual fidelity, pushing each console they release on to its limits.
