The Artbook Collector YouTube channel adds another preview this week, this time it is for The Art of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag!
The Assassin's Creed series has a lot of artbooks, with each mainline game getting a dedicated release since Assassin's Creed III. This one from Titan Books highlights the art behind a fan favourite, Black Flag, and comes with 192 pages in a hardcover.
The art for the series has always been incredible, leaving little wonder as to why there has now been so many artbooks. It's a look at not only what it takes to make the games, but as they take place in various periods of history, they each come with new settings, costume designs, weapons and in some cases, boats and transportation.
This book features a look at the concept art for characters, weapons, locations, ships, battles and more. The environment art has often been a standout and it's no different with Black Flag. Island vistas, towns, villages, coves, ship wrecks and more are all beautifully depicted in the work from the team. The character art also shows that the artists at Ubisoft have an incredible talent for not only creating interesting people, but distinct costumes that fit the time period of the game as well.
Set during the Golden Age of Piracy, Black Flag follows Edward Kenway, an Assassin navigating the Caribbean seas. The game combines Ubisoft's open-world gameplay and expanded ship exploration with their stealth and parkour gameplay. It boasts multiple detailed islands, busy ports and the dangerous ocean, while delivering a strong story too. The game was released in 2013 on PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Stadia and Wii U.
Check out the preview in the video above and subscribe to see more artbooks each week!
