On The Artbook Collector YouTube is a look at the new book from Insight Editions, Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory!

Released on October 21st, the 304-page hardcover takes a look back at the iconic and brutally violent Mortal Kombat series from NetherRealm Studios. With over 30 years of artwork for the stages and characters to share, it takes readers through the many entries of the franchise with insights along the way. It also includes a chapter for the movies, shows, toys, and more.

The book can't include everything, there are over 100 fighters that have been ripping each other apart over the years, so instead it features over 30 with their backgrounds and artwork, giving them more of a focus, rather than showing very little for all of them. The art that is on display ranges from early paper sketches, through to 3D models and modern digital concept art. It's a good mix that shows how the art has progressed, as well as the games themselves.

If you want deeper thoughts on the book to find out if this is worth adding to your collection, you can read more here; Book Review - Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory.

The Mortal Kombat series is a long-running franchise that started in the arcades in 1992, created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The series quickly became known for its eclectic mix of fighters and violence, using Fatalities to finish opponents in gory fashion. In the world of Mortal Kombat, realms battle for dominance through tournaments of combat, pitting Earthrealm’s champions against Outworld’s rulers. Over more than 30 years, the series has maintained it popularity and has rebooted its story more than once for newer audiences. It's experimented with mini-games, 3D adventure games, and more outside of its classic 1 vs. 1 gameplay. The last release was Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023, the second reboot of the series. The fighters have also become iconic, with the likes of Sub-Zero, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Goro, and more, being some of the most recognisable names in the fighting genre.
