'The Book of Deodato Jr.' Heads to Kickstarter to Celebrate the Comic Book Veteran

Mike Deodato Jr. has been showcasing his talent in the comic book industry for over 30 years, working with the biggest publishers to deliver stunning artwork. To share some of his best pieces, a new artbook, titled The Book of Deodato Jr., is on the way after being fully funded on Kickstarter.

The hardcover is set to deliver over 200 pages of Deodato Jr.'s art in a 9" x 12" format, with the illustrations and rare pieces being curated by the award-winning writer Joe Pruett, who is also designing the book. The campaign went live just a couple of hours ago at the time of writing this, but has already surpassed its $10,000 goal, which is unsurprising given the artist's popularity.

As is common with Kickstarter campaigns, there are multiple tiers when backing the project, which includes a copy of the book for $70, a slipcase edition for $120, and a $25 trading card set. The campaign will run until June 11th, so be sure to visit the page to support Deodato Jr. and Joe Pruett, as well as ordering a copy of the book for your collection.

Mike Deodato Jr. is a celebrated Brazilian comic book artist famous for his dynamic storytelling and dramatic character work, that has spanned more than three decades in the industry. He became increasingly popular in the 1990s while working on superhero runs, including at Marvel and DC. He created art for characters including Wonder Woman, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and Spider-Man, later working on titles such as New Avengers and Dark Avengers. Deodato Jr. helped define the modern look of Marvel Comics, which includes a darker and more cinematic style. Outside of Marvel and DC, he has also illustrated on creator-owned projects and his own personal projects, creating a career that has led to him becoming a fan-favourite and influential name in comic books.
