The upcoming book from IDW Publishing that takes a look at the artwork behind Star Trek: Lower Decks has suffered a delay, moving the release date for the book out of January and into May.

The Art of Star Trek: Lower Decks will give fans a peak at the work of the artists across the 5 seasons of the animated show, perfect for fans wanting more following its ending. After the most recent delay, the 192-page hardcover is now set for release May 5th 2026, as confirmed on the websites of retailers.

The book has hit by delays before, but are hard to track due to the nature in which they are handled—silently. Admittedly, a previous delay was missed on the site, and only in noticing this new date, did I discover there had been another before. Hopefully though, this is the last delay it will be hit with.

When it does arrive though, The Art of Star Trek: Lower Decks features sketches, designs, full-colour images, and more for the hit show, showcased alongside interviews with the creators. It will cover all aspects of the show, including the characters, the Cerritos, locations, and individual episodes.

Check out some previews of the book below.

Star Trek: Lower Decks is an adult animated comedy set in the 24th century, focusing on the support crew of the USS Cerritos, a Starfleet vessel that doesn't get the high-priority missions that others are tasked with. It focuses on the lives of Beckett Mariner, Brad Boimler, Tendi, and Rutherford, crew members that deal with everyday tasks, awkward social dynamics, and unexpected moments aboard the ship. This corner of the Star Trek universe delivers humour and franchise lore, packed in a colourful and fun animation style, that made it a hit with fans.
