The upcoming artbook dedicated to the visual history of the iconic fighting series, from publisher Insight Editions and developer NetherRealm Studios, has sadly moved its release date back a couple of months.
Originally set for release in August, online listings for Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory: A Visual History of the Iconic Series have been updated and moved the book to a new publication date of October 21st 2025. It's worth noting for those that notice, listings in the UK have it coming on October 16th, though I would be inclined to disregard this as almost all artbook come out on a Tuesday, which would be the 21st.
Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory will feature the visual history of the gloriously violent fighting series that took over arcades in 1992. Included will be the early sketches and illustrations for the games across the book's more than 300 pages, covering their huge popularity from the 90's, through to today's gaming scene. As well as this, it will include interviews with NetherRealm Studios about their work continuing the legacy of the long-running series.

Fans of the games will also get deep dives into the characters, environments and the moves themselves, making this the perfect book for players that need more Mortal Kombat in their life. There will also be details on what it takes to create the games too, making this much more than a book of artwork.
When this delay happened is unknown, it is not a book I have checked for a while. Schedule changes, as anyone that takes a quick look at the news page will see, are very common for artbooks, so this isn't a unique situation.
This book is coming with good timing though, as only a few days ago, during PlayStation's State of Play, it was announced that the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection is also coming this year. No exact date is given, but the collection will release on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One and both Nintendo Switch consoles.
The confirmed games that will be included are as follows, with more to come;
Mortal Kombat – 1992
Mortal Kombat II – 1993
Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995
Mortal Kombat 4 – 1997
Mortal Kombat Advance – 2001
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance – 2002
Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition – 2003
It's looking like a good year for Mortal Kombat fans then and a perfect time for those newer to the series to go back and not only play the older releases, but see their artwork too.
