'Circus of Bones: The Art of Mike Mignola' Arrives December 2026 for Mignola's Latest Exhibition

Mike Mignola, the mind and artist behind Hellboy, is sharing his art at an upcoming exhibition at the Philippe Labaune Gallery in New York, and the good news for the many that can't make it there, is that they will soon be able to enjoy the art too. Circus of Bones: The Art of Mike Mignola will share a look at that artwork, as well as some other pieces when it arrive later this year.

Coming by way of publisher Image Comics, the book is set to be released on December 1st 2026. This upcoming 144-page hardcover will share a look at 53 watercolor paintings that will be shared at the gallery, allowing more people to enjoy Mignola's incredible bold, and often surreal, work. Not only this though, but Circus of Bones will also feature more original artwork of pencil drawings and inks, making this a nice book for the shelf of collectors, even for the people that already attended the show.

The book arrives less than two months after the gallery ends, which runs from September 17th to October 24th. This isn't the first exhibition or book either, as in 2024, Hell, Ink & Water: The Art of Mike Mignola was published and shared his art that was on display at the Philippe Labaune Gallery that year as well. Below you can see a cover of that book, and a watercolor piece titled Lost Hope that was shared at his last show.

For those that don't know, Mike Mignola is an American comic book writer and artist, most famous for his series Hellboy. He worked at both Marvel and DC, before taking his unique style with heavy shadows and bold shapes and creating the Hellboy comic (and resulting multimedia franchise) in the early 1990's. As well as using gothic themes and the supernatural for that series, he has also used it for other comic books, making him a favourite amongst readers, as well as an influence to other artists to this day.
