Video Preview - The Art of Wildwood

On The Artbook Collector YouTube channel this week is a book that shares a look at Laika's upcoming stop-motion movie with The Art of Wildwood!
Rizzoli Universe published the book on October 6th, 2026, giving readers a look at the artwork and models across 176 pages. Laika, like other animation studios, has decided to release this book ahead of the movie, which is out on October 23rd, so it goes without saying that spoilers are within the preview of the book. Inside is a look at the early sketches, key frames, storyboards, and photos of the models, all highlighting the work of the artists involved. It's generous with unused character designs, as well as written details and interviews with the creative team that speak on the development of the movie and its visual design. The inclusions of the models compliment the artwork and show how they were executed in the final movie, giving fans a sense of the impressive scale and detail of the stop-motion world they created.
In my review I praised the artwork, especially the keyframes and environment art, all of which could easily be used in promotional art and help sell people on the movie. It has a nice mix of content and art styles from the team too, making it a fun read. There are some pages where the print comes out very dark though, but this is only for a small number of images. Wildwood is a stop-motion fantasy film from Laika, the studio behind Coraline and Kubo and the Two Strings, with Travis Knight in the directors chair. It's based on the novel of the same name by Colin Meloy and follows Prue McKeel, a young girl who enters a dangerous forest to find her baby brother. Set in Portland, Oregon, it takes Prue and the viewers from the world we know, into one of fantasy characters and magic. Wildwood boasts an impressive voice cast, including Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, and Angela Bassett.
