'The Art of Toy Story 5' Coming May 2026

Pixar are continuing their long running tradition of releasing an artbook for their movies next year with an entry for the upcoming Toy Story 5. They are partnering again with Chronicle Books to deliver fans a look at the artwork for Buzz and Woody's return to the big screen in 2026.
The Art of Toy Story 5 was spotted on retailer listings and currently has no cover art to show, but some details are available, including the release date of May 26th 2026. As expected, it will include character art, storyboards, colour scripts, and interviews throughout. The hardcover book is also noted to have 172 pages and retails at $50/£40.
You may have noticed that the May 26th publication date is before the movie's current release of June 19th, which is unusual when most artbooks for movies and video games come between weeks and years after a release. This is normal for not just Pixar though, but also all Disney animation artbooks from Chronicle Books as seen with their recent releases, including The Art of Elio, The Art of Moana 2, and The Art of Inside Out 2.
If you are a Pixar fan but haven't checked out the artbooks before, you may find a lot to love inside as the visual style seen on-screen is also wonderfully displayed in the work of the artists. The sketches, colour keyframes, unused designs, storyboards, and location concepts all carry the charming aesthetics that make it into the movies. If you are feeling impatient and want some Toy Story on your shelf sooner, then there's good news as Disney/Pixar The Color of Toy Story: A 30th Anniversary Celebration of Colorscripts and Creativity is out September 23rd. This book boasts over 300 pages of artwork for the first four movies, taking readers through their stories with colour scripts and concept art.
Whether you grew up with the movies, are a new and younger fan, it's a great time to be a lover of Toy Story, especially if have some space on your shelf. The books will also appeal to aspiring artists and people already working in the industry too, which is even mentioned in the description of the book.
The artwork above was officially released by Pixar for Toy Story 5 and comes with a brief description of the movie ahead of more details and a trailer. It will focus on Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the toys as they are introduced to the modern day child and their new obsession in technology. This is no doubt a big release for the studio as Toy Story was not only the first full-length animated feature, but having come out in 1995, has spanned generations and is beloved by a huge audience, all of which will surely make the story hit home for many.
