Abrams Books is back with an unsurprising, yet exciting announcement for an artbook based on Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter. The live-action movies are no strangers to getting the artbook treatment and that is set to continue when the The Art of Star Wars: Starfighter arrives in 2027.

The book was revealed today at the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at New York Comic Con, and is already live on retailer listings, including the website of Abrams Books and Amazon US. No cover art is available yet, as is always the case for the early listings for Star Wars artbooks, but its release date of June 1st, 2027 has been confirmed. We also know that it will come as a 272-page hardcover, with a reasonable expectation that, like the previous entries from the publisher in the series before it, it will also have a dustjacket.
Like the last release, The Art of Star Wars: Andor, it will be authored by Phil Szostak, who shared the news of the reveal on X. Expect to find a look at the concept art behind the characters, locations, weapons, keyframes, and as suggested by the movie's title, ships as well. The Ryan Gosling led movie has a strong cast, though little else is know about what to expect without a trailer, but it's safe to say that the visuals and designs will be a strong part of the movie, which always makes the books enticing.
The series of books have set the bar high with their quality, coming with a huge amount of early concepts, designs, artist insights, and more. There has been a long tradition of the movies getting artbooks, going all the way back to the original Star Wars with The Art of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope from 1979. More recently, even the Disney+ shows have received the artbook treatment, with more likely to be announced in the future. You can get an idea of what to expect in this upcoming look at Star Wars: Starfighter with a preview of the last release in the series below.
Star Wars: Starfighter is a standalone adventure from director Shawn Levy, taking place five years after the events of 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Ryan Gosling plays Kade Auberon, an unknown rogue that encounters various characters while embarking on a dangerous journey. Star Wars: Starfighter is scheduled to be released on May 28, 2027, and also features actors Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Amy Adams, and more. This new hardcover will give fans a look at the art that helped it come together when released shortly after the movie.
